With Man City struggling (relatively), Chelsea looking shit, Martin out of a job….

Good news for those of us who cannot stand the pedestrian style of football

Inter v Barca restores my faith that football can be entertaining. Just the 162 goals Barca have scored this season

Another 4 more in the first half against Real Madrid

If you were offered at the start of the season for Saints to finish 4 places below Man Utd, would you have taken it ?

It could’ve been the mid-70s again but for the 3 promoted teams being so far adrift, with Man U and Spurs spending time in the second tier. Even more staggering that they are competing a European final.

Lord knows what the Forest owner was thinking of there.

Liverpool fans giving TAA a torid booing. Bunch of entitled twats.
Real Madrid are a bigger more successful club. Fact.
Can’t blame him for giving it a go.

* PS now you know what it feels like when a bigger team poaches your players - shit isn’t it. 😂😂😂😂

It's not enough to help them win every trophy there is to win, you have to get them a £100 million selling fee too.

Entitled and despicable fanbase, hope they get left in the dirt next year.

Remember when they were signing players from us and they were all saying we should stand aside and let them leave to fulfil their dreams. Funny how that doesn’t apply now

United on 39 points with Chelsea and Villa left to play. They genuinely could be 17th, not that Spurs are any better.

Nailed on to beat Spurs though and get CL football. Funny old game.

I noticed the Forest owner has had another meltdown in public, had a row with Nuno on the pitch at FT.

He's a nut job that guy.

He needs to have a look at the last couple of seasons that Forest had. Nuno has done wonders with that club. I hope he gets Manager of the Year but I suppose that's going in the direction of Anfield. I don't like to see people get bawled out in public. No need for it.

He needs to look back 35 years or so. They’ve not done this well since Brian Clough days. Always liked Forest as a club, similar size to us and their period late 70s-90s was what Saints could have been had everything gone spectacularly well. Nuno done a great job there and let’s also not forget the job Steve Cooper did getting them up as keeping them there too.

Same when Gerrard was in contract talks with Chelsea during their glory spell, in an attempt to get some medals in his career.  The bestest fans in de world's response was a 'hate campaign' and death threats towards Gerrard and his family.  LFC is a club with a mobile mental health crisis - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-308410/Gerrards-U-turn-threats-family.html

Just noticed Tommy Widdrington won the FA Trophy with Aldershot yesterday. Didn't realise he was manager there. Good to see after his health issues.

The attendance was pretty impressive too at 38,000 - there was quite a bit of excitement at getting to the final locally in North Hampshire.

Sheffield united v Bristol City. City 3-0 down from first leg. Two things, where is BBD, not even in the squad and not listed as injured. Also, I don’t like Sheffield Utd, for the record.

I noticed that he wasn’t in the squad for their final game of the season, apparently been down with a virus.

Just lifted this from their website

“Wilder opted not to include Ben Brereton Diaz and Femi Seriki on Thursday but confirmed both will be available and in the squad for the second leg at Bramall Lane.”

..,not that too much can be read into that, could have had a relapse

https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/sheffield-united-injury-bristol-city-play-offs-femi-seriki-ben-brereton-diaz-5116341

The Blades have a clean bill of health otherwise in terms of injuries, with Ben Brereton Diaz the only concern for Wilder after his recent virus which kept him out of Saturday’s reunion with his former club Rovers. “Ben’s gathering pace, and we'll make a decision whether he travels or not,” Wilder said. “And if he doesn't, he'll definitely be involved on Monday.”

So, nothing cleared up either but kind of suggests that BBD is still in favour at least for a squad place.

Is it an obligation to buy if they get promoted?

I don’t care for them much either way kind of a club that’s never really been on my radar. I do like their greasy chip butty song though

Just done a FACT CHECK and so it was written by a Rotherham fan and adopted by them. I am surprised at this but I thank you for educating me on South Yorkshire terrace heritage 🙏🏼

6-0 on aggregate. Blimey.

Although it would be nice to see Coventry and Sunderland get up to the PL, the less sides with parachute payments in the Championship the better.

Watched the game and Blades were way better, but what's the point ? I can't see they have any real prospect of staying up if promoted. I like the play offs but the Championship instalment feels anticlimactic and a bit of a poisoned chalice really. Looks like the fans thought so too as the ground wasn't full.

What's the solution ? You've got to try and stay in your first season but FFP seems to have killed that. If Leeds, Burnley and the play off winners come straight back down the league is in a bit of trouble and it's starting to look like a closed shop &nbsp

First of all the 17 clubs stay in the league and reap the broadcast money, plus even more as the second and third installments of parachute payments just get divided amongst them. To fix the problem, I would start with that little caveat.

It's a difficult predicament. Of course it looks bad to us. But I would argue the PL probably doesn't care that much right now. International viewers are where the money comes from and most are fans of Sky Six clubs. In that regard, they live in their own world. They aren't going to care that Southampton, Burnley or Leeds can't make a dent in the Premier League, or that new blood isn't flowing in. The health of the football pyramid isn't of interest to them as much as bantering Man United or Chelsea on Twitter for losing to the minnows that week. The poor look up to the rich, but the rich would rather ignore the existence of the poor...

This season has been total crap as a Saints fan but as a neutral it's been really

dull.

The lack of any real jeopardy has been a significant contributor to that so I think the PL does care or it should as part of the attraction of the league used to be anyone can beat anyone but that's not really true anymore

I can't say much about the quality, as I've pretty much watched our games.

However, it has been good to see Forest and Villa push for CL places. Both have significant investment. At the same time, Man Utd, Tottenham falling away gives hope that within the 17, there can be gradual shifts. A few seasons without CL money will start to make a difference.

Yes, it does look harder to come up and stay up. However, SR's approach hobbled us, Leicester imploded from within, and it was Ipswich's second promotion in a row. Hopefully, more stable clubs can make a better go of it in seasons to come.

They mentioned if Sheff Utd go back up with Burnley their remaining parachute payments get redistributed amongst Premier League clubs, would we benefit from that?

Very possibly happens at the switchover. At the moment we become a Championship club, and can nip off to nab our new manager. 🙂

Yeah the timing is important, do Sheff Utd and Burnley get the share of unused parachutes or do we? I guess when we went back up last year we'd have benefitted if it's other way round

BBD and pace shouldn't go into the same sentence really. A proper carthorse.

Still very much on track to see some shitty red and white stripe shirted team get turned over every week in the Premier League next season.

The unused parachute payments get distributed to Premier League clubs. I'm not joking. It should be to the EFL teams but Man Utd and Liverpool really need that extra couple of million...
