I don’t think it’s SR, but the recruitment around football data/scouting is pretty ruthless and fast moving. If you do a decent job, then one of the bigger clubs will be making moves quickly.

I don’t think SR are wedded to a philosophy. They gave Wilcox free rein and he bought possession style with him, hiring Martin. 

Makes buying players a pain in the arse though.

Director of Football Operations is very different to a DoF.

As a simplistic view, the former is responsible for day to day processes, the operational side of things, the latter is responsible for strategy and the long term.

I know and I did not say they were identical roles. Clubs use these roles in different ways and there is some variation and crossovers in duties.

my boss doesn't give a fuck what i do because I deliver what the company needs. It's not like your day when the pools of typists you managed would be chained to a desk only allowed to leave if they asked for your permission to go for a piss or when it was their scheduled coffee break LOL. Job title are totally meaningless, it’s the job role / responsibilities that’s important. I have a client that one of the key contacts has a job title of intergalactic commander weirdly. Media company so probably sums it up i guess.
