Anyone else think we may as well start with Robinson on the left wing? Am a bit underwhelmed by our transfer activity with one week to go....but it always seems like this....

Assuming Dibling and Edozie both go, i think at some point we'll be starting games with AA (RW) and Robinson (LW) with Downs / Stewart / Archer up front.

Is BBD injured?

I assumed he off given his absenteeism today. I guess it could be genuine. Hard to know what's true and what's not with the players atm.

Apparently not. Aribo absense also unexplained. Smallbone and Taylor have picked up injuries though.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Wrexham come in for him but not featuring in next week’s game.

Ipswich have just re-signed Cajuste from Napoli. He's certainly a premier league level player.

I’m not sure theyve sold other than Delap but they’re surely going to win the league

I thought you could only make big signings at the end of the window and you had to start the season significantly underpowered?

I totally agree with this statement. What exactly was our track record against lower league sides in the Cup competitions last season!!!

We are losing our best players and still have so much dross to shift with little quality left behind. I honestly think we could be off to a very bad start to the season.

Seems have started OK to me just chill and see what happens

Axel Tuanzebe to Burnley. Not sure if he was all that anyway. Ensico went back to Brighton too.  They look decent. Is Hutchinson not going to leave?

After being sent out on loan, you have to imagine he wants out. I know its a different manager, but players like to be wanted and as a club we didn't want him.

I imagine the same boat as us with Tyler and Fernandes, think if the fee’s right he’ll leave but depends if there’s suiters

Philogene and Hutchinson are huge for this league though

Can’t remember him being that special  in the Championship a couple of year.s ago, Jack Clarke on the other hand seemed ‘dogs bollocks’ for Sunderland for much of the season.

I thought he was excellent at Hull, which was why Villa took a punt

That would explain an awful lot about his performances.

Should have been nominated at the BAFTAs

wasn't he a prominent part of the 'ull side that took the piss out of us at SMS?

Possibly, thought they also had Carvalho to take the piss (especially having turned us down twice).

Settled manager , very good championship squad, I think they will win it comfortably,

Will Leicester ever get a points deduction?

I’d imagine he’s waiting for 90 minutes up against ‘breezy’ to further inflate his valuation somewhat

So Fernandes and dibling sold. Who do we get in to replace the massive hole left?

Dibling played today. Not certain that he will be sold.

On the team front, I could see something like this possibly being a good use of what we have:

--- Bazunu ---

- Edwards -Stephens- Quarshie-

Sugawara - Charles - Downes - Wellington

-- Robinson or Matsuki or Smallbone --

- Downs - Archer -

Obviously the AM spot is the weak point.

AM spot not yet filled, so the obvious weak spot is the centre of defense, we have no chance with Cpt Jack in the middle of a three. The carnage will be unwatchable.

Saint86 means the 60min behind closed doors match from yesterday morning vs Brighton. (I think he will be sold though)

I understand that people wanted some more experienced signings, and I too think we need some, particularly a decently weathered GK.

But I think the kids and younger 20s will be the stand outs this season, particularly the ones who were away for 2024-25's car crash.

Charles, Robinson, Welington, Quarshie, Downs, Edwards, I'm hoping for them all to have a strong impact. They've looked tidy in pre-season.

Hard to say this early, but I think we might finally be breaking away from the malaise of Mara, Edozie, Sulemana and Djenepo.

Let's hope if the cash comes rolling we can invest in more quality.

I am sure will still would like a couple of players of his own,  who he can trust and worked with before.  I think spors selected quarshie and downes.

I really wish the club wouldn't treat us like idiots by proclaiming Fernandes is 'ill'. Everyone plays from the same script, it's pretty cringe.

It's amazing how often a player falls ill just before he departs.

The problem we have is when they do it before joining us, it's usually genuine and keeps them out for 6 months!

Very good. The problem is, it probably means Fernandes is actually pushing for the move and following the agents 101 on getting a transfer.

My current views:

Mateus and Tyler are as good as gone.

Ditto Sam Edozie & Joe Aribo - if JA lowers his wage demands.

Will Smallbone is now in final year and I’m sensing he’s not going to get renewed. Club may just let it roll. Or sell him to another Championship club for £3-5m.

FlynnDownes is a very good championship MF but could be a star in Scotland - I think he’s going to leave for £10m if Rangers can find the pennies that is.

THB may find suitors ditto Nathan Wood - but not both - I think one will leave the other stay. And the sellable one is obviously THB.

Got a hunch Stewart will go out on a loan just to get minutes in his legs. DD is obviously ahead of him

Also think we may recruit a veteran goalie as back up or even starter - the free agent Still knows is the favourite.

Why on earth would we sell Downes for 10m?

With the limited CF options we’ve got I was hoping Stewart might stay put.

(meaning at the club if fit and available, rather than in the treatment room).
