Hell of a squad for the Championship. Surely no more incomings if we get Jander, Scienza, Azaz and Fellows... surely... (Gets greedy and wants more..) Pretty good. Personally I'd say two upgrades needed though. GK and CF but neither will happen. 1 1 1

Willo of Whiteley Posted yesterday at 17:26 Posted yesterday at 17:26 So I’ve been working all day, on a 8-20:00 today, can someone clarify - have we suddenly bought every player in Europe? Ive read several reports on six or seven players we’ve supposedly agreed deals with today.

saintant Posted yesterday at 17:44 Posted yesterday at 17:44 Some great signings and if we get all/most across the line we're in for an exciting season. My one gripe would be lack of decent striking options but I guess maybe all the creativity will provide chances that the likes of Stewart, Archer, Downs and AA will be unable to miss 🙂 Or could we have a cheeky loan option in the pipeline on the last day of the window? Fingers crossed.
saintant Posted yesterday at 17:47 Posted yesterday at 17:47 Reckon Will is going to be putting the names in a hat to pick his starting line-ups. He's going to be spoilt for choice.

hypochondriac Posted yesterday at 18:02 Posted yesterday at 18:02 Bazunu Mads THB Stephens Manning Jander Charles Fellows Azaz Scienza Stewart Would have the added bonus of only containing 4 players potentially affected by last season. 2
verlaine1979 Posted yesterday at 18:03 Posted yesterday at 18:03 Time to watch some YouTube compilations I guess.

I still have a feeling we may see one more after these signings depending on outgoings.
spyinthesky Posted yesterday at 18:04 Posted yesterday at 18:04 Perhaps there are a few 'oldies' on here who remember the 'good old days' when we had two out and out wingers ie Terry Paine (World Cup Winner in 1966) and John Sydenham supplying crosses to Ron Davies (30+) goals a season. Those were good days when Saints may not have won anything in the old 1st Division but boy was it enjoyable!! 15
Turkish Posted yesterday at 18:11 Posted yesterday at 18:11 including loans when Fernandes is confirmed and if we can get shot of Edozie, Aribo and Smallbone that's 21 players gone in one window, never seen anything like that before. A great job getting rid of that lot, it does feel like a clean sweep. Get the 4 new boys over the line and that a much more streamlined squad which is very strong for this league. 8
Andrew Watson Posted yesterday at 18:11 Posted yesterday at 18:11 Well pleased with all the signings to be,the only slight worry is do we have the forwards to stick away all the chances we will surely make each game. As has been alluded to,we cannot keep a clean sheet and therefore need to score at least twice to win a game.

Saint Matty 76 Posted yesterday at 18:15 Posted yesterday at 18:15 Was hoping that Edozie, Smallbone and Aribo would all go permanently but starting to worry about those a little bit. Much like Bella-Kotchap, never had much of a hope about Brereton-Diaz being anything other than a loan departure.
verlaine1979 Posted yesterday at 18:17 Posted yesterday at 18:17 Archer plays off the shoulder and needs a proper AM behind him looking for that through ball or a hold up striker who can play him in. We haven't had anyone like that in the squad since he's been here. Azaz looks like he plays that way based on his highlight reel. 5
Saint Matty 76 Posted yesterday at 18:18 Posted yesterday at 18:18 I feel confident with Archer knowing how he can finish now that we've invested in actual creativity behind him. Stewart and Downs will have to do a lot off the bench to fight for a spot but I'd be giving Archer a run of games from Portsmouth onwards to see if he can claim it. 1

Scoobysaint Posted yesterday at 18:22 Posted yesterday at 18:22 (edited) I think Stewart and Downes are going to be prolific with two “white paint on their boots” wingers playing. Looking at Fellows assists compilation from last year, a lot of them were step over, gain a yard and flight a lofted crosses to the back post to attack. Stewart is 50-1 to be Championship top scorer, may have a fiver on it!! Most importantly, we are losing so much of the scar tissue from the Martin era. We have an attack that will be positive and drive forward, rather than a pass back to retain possession. I still have some reservations about the defence arsing around it with too much but Still will be onto that. It was audible the other night at Norwich when he was whistling across to Macca to go long and not bugger about. Edited yesterday at 18:23 by Scoobysaint 3
verlaine1979 Posted yesterday at 18:24 Posted yesterday at 18:24 Jander looks to have quite the cultured right foot.
