Ipswich already tried and failed in an attempt to get Miley, and with Tonali now injured he'll be a regular in their squad.

What about Lewis Cook? I thought we might help ease him back to full fitness with a 4 month loan.

Wouldn't be against that one, he's a really tidy CM. Not sure he's the tallest though from memory, more Harrison Reed in height and physicality.

The long and short of it is, if you stay in the championship, you are fucked. We should be doing anything we can to make this side the best in the league this season, and that includes loaning PL players.

Yeah I think loans are definitely a good supplementary option

I just don’t think there’s a ton of good available prem loans, at the moment, maybe we’ll see more this week

Our issue last year was we wed ourselves too them, THBs price was outrageous, Downes we got held over a barrell and Fraser… well.. last year it was an awful signing (probably been pur best player so far)

Lets see what this week brings us

But it's not a sustainable model for growth.

Anyway, irrelevant of this, it's what I heard early Summer and none of our business so far shows it to be incorrect information.

pontificating on this, expect Aziz to be the 10 but if Fernandes goes would be great to have him with charles being the deep lying pirlo and having someone like spets as the full out attacking goal scorer.

Massive reach i know but if we keep matty i'd have him and charles in CM in the 2 downes can take a break or maybe leave as based on the season so far he's been the weak link in CM.

Jo Tessem still saying we still need a striker and Downes, Armstrong, Stewart, Archer are not good enough.

I tend to agree.

Can we not spell his name wrong? It’s literally 4 letters

If he and Aribo depart, do we have enough bodies? I guess how much Still rates Sesay will matter here. If he is seen as good enough to play at Championship level pretty much now, then we may have enough.

I think defensive midfield is our weakest area.  Charles & Downes are the only experienced players there yet we seem overloaded in numbers elsewhere.

Azaz the first decent signing we’ve made.  Will improve us straight away.

Disagree - Mads was the first decent signing.

Why not? Unless you bind yourself to obligation to buy deals, you don't actually have to buy anyone you don't think is good enough for the step up.

There's nothing inherently unsustainable about using the loan market. The only thing that's unsustainable is shit scouting, and it remains to be seen if we've addressed that yet.

Sounds like Edwards is off to QPR.

Also noted someone on Twitter saying this earlier too was also saying if Hackney agrees something with a PL team Boro could pull out of the Azaz deal.

That was only getting pumped by 11 blokes from Coventry which is like a brisk warm up for Bonnie.

If Edwards is off is it rather risky going into the season with only 4 CB's? I guess Taylor could play there in an emergency.

Would probably signify a return to 4 at the back. Taylor can play there if needed too though it seems.

Finn Azaz feels more like a panic buy to me. Reading some of the write ups from Boro fans suggest that he’s ok in space in the AM role but will go missing in quite a few games.

Stats are ok though so happy to reserve judgement.

Looks like Blackmore has changed his tune on Fernandes. As I said earlier, links have cooled as cost is too high.

from Blackmore's lips to our ears.  Always put a lot of value on info coming from him.

And Bree and Charles - in emergencies.

Chelsea close to buying Garnacho from Man United (for some reason). So surely one of their younger wingers will be needing a loan deal to get some playing time this season....

Would he go missing if we are dominating games? I would expect us to do that more than Boro.
Are these stats of someone who goes missing often ?

Panic Buy …..hmmm

Feels nothing like a panic buy to me. We offered a lower bid to test the water and then went back in and met his valuation.

I believe you. And as you say, so far we have not been linked with any loans.

As for sustainable growth model...lets see how much growth and sustainability there is when the parachute payment drops from £48m to £8M in two summers time if we fail to get promoted.

He's one of the best attacking CM's in the league, so if this equals a panic signing consider me whelmed.

Really hope Edward’s isn’t off on a permanent. He has made the occasional mistake but can play RB, CB or DM. Great potential.

Agreed, I think it would be a stupid decision and one of many in the transfer mistakes this lot make. We only signed him last year, it makes no sense.

He looks like a fish out of water in a 3, but in a settled 4 he's one of the better CB's this league has to offer - as proven at QPR last season. It's not like he's being kept out by prime maldini or serigo ramos.

Is that true? I thought the rave reviews he got last year from their fans were when he was playing DM.

I'm sure he played in a back 4 for them mainly, he did play some games in DM though as the typical 'front sweeper jack Stephens (tm)' role. But he can do that, because he's technically sound and good on the ball.

We lose a DM, RB and CB with him going and I don't think we're particularly blessed at either RB or DM tbh.
