Leeds Tiwtter currently going through the Spertsyan song and dance. You love to see it. 🥲

He's very excited about joining Leeds and the owner is supportive of him going to a higher league.

Not.

I really hope this one gets done, this is the one i'm really excited about. He is quality!

I'm not questioning your knowledge but I am curious where this opinion comes from. Have you seen him play?

At the age of 26 his career looks (apart from the last 12 months in a relegation threatened team) average at best in lower league and reserve team football.

Hope you are right!!

I speak to my son regularly who lives abroad and has been a football scout for the last 4 years and is currently head scout for an American football team. I'm bias off course but the lad knows his players and has rarely picked a dud. I mentioned to him we were linked with Sceinza last week and he immediately said the lad is a class act and was really surprised if we were to actually sign him.

Obviously i've looked at his YouTube reels and to be fair he looks mustard, a real flair player but the main thing for me is my sons recommendation. He's rarely wrong with players, we have great debates over current Saints players!!

Looked offside to me and on replay.

Regardless, what else did he do? He's never been prolific before and I've seen nothing that makes me think he's suddenly going to become so.

Both AA and Stewart have at least been so, if in small sample sizes in Stewart's case.

It's actually more of a shame that we've got 4 to choose from, none of which are actually any good anymore/ever have been. I think Stewart + AA is a better option than Archer or AA leading the line.

11 in 20 for Middlesbrough the last time he was in the Championship. 7 in 20 the previous season.

The Premier League has proven to be a step too far for him but his finishing looks good at this level

Interested to know your son’s thoughts on the players we have signed this window, especially the ‘potential’ players like Quarshie, Downs and Jander.

Can we stop the Americanisms please.  Roster used here and parking lot on the Flynn Downes thread.  What is wrong with squad and car park?

We are not fucking Americans.  Please use the King’s English you wannabe yank wankers.

Gee, no need to get so gnarly Wade. The window SLAMS SHUT on September 1, then we will know our fricking awesome roster for the remainder of the 25/26 EFL soccerball series!

Just saw this. Supposedly a physically strong CM. Guessing Spors might have inside track on Serie A given his time at Genoa

Well there’s the other CM then… can’t see it though, too late in the day and Smallbone and Aribo still here

Wait, what!?!?! A physically strong CM!?!?!

If this is true, I will need a fucking box of Kleenex right away.

Downes or Smallbone you'd think. The fee involved is higher than I guess I'd have expected for a Smallbone replacement but we've seamingly been spending when needed again.

It's middling though really isn't it. It's still only ever 11 goals in a full season and at a rate of less than a goal every 2 games even then.

I dunno, it's one of them, I hope he comes good I just don't think players simply unlock something that they've never had.  And he looks like a headless chicken most of the time - granted mostly in the prem.

So if todays rumours are true we are potentially signing another 3 players on top of the 4 we have signed this week already! Elias Jelert, Sceinza and Doumbia. That would be two thirds of a starting 11 replaced!

I'm enjoying the ruthlessness of it all tbh. It's quite refreshing.

Funnily enough, if you had made a poll at the start of the summer, most people would have hoped to get a number 9 and a new keeper.

Neither of those positions have been strengthened (don't mention the crap third choice keeper from Norwich)

21 year old Italian midfielder.

Hopefully a finished article and not another project

I think the clues on the term "21 year old"

Championship clubs don't generally get "finished articles"

For context Wanyama was 22 when we signed him and had played a similar number of senior matches too.

Doumbia looks big and strong. Exactly what we've been missing from our midfield for a while. Can certainly see why we are going after him (if the reports are true). Maybe Downes is on his way out?

Jander is 22 and considered the finished article. Fernandes last season was not a project, he was good to go as a starter.

The word ‘clearly’ is doing a ton of heavy lifting here

He's level at most in this shot, so wind it back to the point it left Azaz's boot and he must have been onside.

Anyway, the point here is that it's a bit unfair to call him an offside liability based on this incident. I think he timed this one just right. An offside liability, to my mind, is someone who carelessly wanders offside on a regular basis, like Sulemana for instance.

I really won't be surprised if Downes goes tomorrow, i honestly think he is one of the players STILL has talked about as not wanting to be here and this stems from the moment RM was sacked. He has been playing with a massive strop on ever since.

Downes has been playing, Smallbone and Aribo haven't even been picked for the bench. I think that speaks volumes for who would be replaced. Though if both stay, we probably won't bring another CM in but for our sake I'd rather take our chances on this fella than Smallbone, even if we know little about Doumbia. Unless the plan is to send him to Goztepe/Valenciennes...

Thank you for sharing.

I'm curious who he doesn't rate in the current Saints team 😄

I agree about his general stropiness and attitude, I just can't see who buys him to be honest? He's too much for a champ team and not good enough for the PL and no-one else has the kind of money we'd want...

Not saying he won't be good, and we definitely need a big DM in the vein of Wanyama or Romeu, but finished article is what someone is at their peak.

I want a good player with no upper limit when given top class training facilities.

Good to start with. But with lots of room to improve.

He isn’t going to benefit or develop going from playing in Serie A to the French 3rd tier.

Bit of research on Doumbia reveals hes a bit more of a well rounded/box to box than an anchor/destroyer. But strengths are his positional play, physical attributes and range of passing.

Sounds like more of an Ugochukwu style midfielder.

Ipswich I would expect. They've got the cash.

Well Goztepe then! (OK I haven't been following Valenciennes, sorry Christoph!)

Anyway we're in for a fun deadline day with these late links.

Feels a bit of a panic buy for Leeds. If they really wanted him they could have bid three weeks ago.

Where he might have done OK in the Championship for us, the step up from Russian League to Prem could be like the steps up that the likes of Onuachu / Djenepo / Elyounoussi / Boufal / etc all failed to take.

Good luck to him, if it actually happens.

Thought Smallbone was injured
