I read something that suggest club sources feel he is too 'light weight' for the Championship. It should have been obvious when they were scouting him, no? I think he's a good player with time and space, but it looks like he could snap in half with a bad tackle. 1
SNSUN Posted 14 November, 2025 Posted 14 November, 2025 Playing as Arsenal on FM22 and Mika Biereth and Folarin Balogun are banging them in for me. In the real world both play for Monaco and score a fair amount and are still a good age. That's my scouting done. Make it happen Saints. 😝

As you say, bizarre if that’s the case. Physicality is surely something you can get a good sense of ahead of getting a player in - it’s not something a little more subjective like personality type/aptitude. We’re not blessed with options so I would like to see more of him should he stay and be able to get fit. He does look more than decent for this level.

It might be our decision, but if he is not getting games, maybe the player and/or his parent club want to cancel the loan. It might be out of our hands if the loan contract requires he plays a certain number of games. I don't think I have seen him. Is he actually a left back or right back?
Patches O Houlihan Posted 14 November, 2025 Posted 14 November, 2025 (edited) I see JWP has been linked again. We know that he can play alongside Oriel, but it would be a shame to squeeze Shea Charles & Casper Jander from playing time. That salary is probably better spent with a striker. We have Scienza for free kicks (and Manning bizarrely). But if we did get promoted it would be lovely to see him break Beckham's PL free kick record in a Saints shirt. Would he even come? Alongside Oriel he would definitely drive up professional standards in the dressing room. Thoughts? Edited 14 November, 2025 by Patches O Houlihan extra

Patches O Houlihan Posted 14 November, 2025 Posted 14 November, 2025 He looked good technically but did look like he would be muscled off the ball regularly in the Championship. Its like Sports Republic are size blind: They spot the technical ability, and assume that they've paid a bargain price, failing to realise it is because the player will struggle with the English game which must be a big driver of player pricing. 2

We continue to recruit players who are too lightweight. Spors suggested he was going to fix this but he has done little other than signing Quarshie who is one for the future and the recent signing of Romeu. Spors should be studying other clubs like Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace and Sunderland. We have far too many shrinking violets who shirk at the first sign of a physical battle. 1

Yeah don’t really understand the fascination with beefing up the midfield when we have plenty of options in there. Fitness issues in there are an issue though. Plus it’s lovely PR play from the club with him and OR signing, so I suspect that’s behind any motivation to do it. Think it smacks of playing to the crowd which Solak especially is keen to do.

He would probably still improve us but having already re-signed an experienced Central midfielder in Romeu the timing doesn't feel right for him to return now, would have definitely taken him at the start of the season if he was available then. Agree that the salary would be better spent on improving our striking options now and let Jander and Charles come on more with the help of Romeu providing the know how in midfield.

Willo of Whiteley Posted 14 November, 2025 Posted 14 November, 2025 I’d take James Ward-Prwose back comfortably. Let’s be brutally honest Shea Charles isn’t signing a new contract so we’ll be cashing in on him next summer. Flynn Downes - quite simply, I hope he leaves. I’m extremely confident we won’t be signing a goalkeeper, because it’ll be another admission of poor business by Sport Republic (for Gavin Bazunu). I’m struggling to see what Spors and Sport Republic will do regarding signings in January, I don’t see them many many, if any. But I’m sure they’ll be keen to still try and offload a few such as Sam Edozie and Joe Aribo.

Hamwic Posted 15 November, 2025 Posted 15 November, 2025 Apparently Newcastle are interested in James Trafford in January. Would that mean a timely return for Ramsdale? 1
hypochondriac Posted 15 November, 2025 Posted 15 November, 2025 If i was in charge I'd loan out one of our keepers and get the Sunderland keeper in on loan. I'd get a tall striker possibly on loan and maybe jwp if he wants to come. I'd offload Aribo and Edozie and maybe Downes, bring back Bree and it looks like Jelert is going back for some odd reason. With everyone fit my team would be: Patterson Bree/Mads Wood/Stephens THB Wellington Romeu/jwp Charles/Jander Fellows/Armstrong Scienza/Robinson Azaz New striker/Stewart

MLG Even at 40%+, our squad wages will still be at the very top end of wages paid in the Championship. I understand the loan fee for Ramsdale was between £3-£4m which, if true, is a tidy sum and I guess Saints will allow him to find another club at the end of this season and try to recoup most of the £22m, reportedly, we paid for him. It would be interesting to learn how much loan fees were for: Smallbone (Millwall) Taylor (WBA) Brerton Diaz (Derby) Bella Kotcha (Verona) Sugawara (Bremen) Sanda (???) Probably £2-£3m in total to add to Ramsdale say £3m and say £95m from the sale of Dibling/Fernandez/Bednerak/Tall Paul and Sulemana. So say £100m revenue from sales and around £46m from inward transfers. That leaves us with a big squad which probably sits on our books at an overall cost of around £168m, with another £40m 'worth' of players out on loan. The overall squad expenditure certainly doesnt seem to be translating to value on the field of play!!

Stud mark of doom Posted 16 November, 2025 Posted 16 November, 2025 The Parrott winner today reminded my of Gordon Watson’s in the 3-1 comeback win against Newcastle, in front of the Archers. A very deft finish with the studs of the boot, before anyone else could react 2

Seeing as AZ brought him for £6.5m for the 24/25 season (before Spors arrived here), since then he scored well for them and to top it off AZ play regularly in Europe. This is from May and according to Dutch media AZ wanted 25m when Leeds wanted him. https://www.leedsunited.news/transfers/leeds-united-give-response-after-being-told-to-spend-25m-on-striker-robbie-keane-thinks-is-clever/

DT Posted 8 December, 2025 Posted 8 December, 2025 Whatever we do, a goalkeeper is a must. JWP back might work too. And we need a striker. Offload Aribo who has looked truly awful recently/legs have gone and Downs, who just does not look like he is the solution to anything. Baffling signing. The thing we should be worried about is losing Scienza already. He is the reason we have been winning, and to a certain extent has got Eckert his contract. Not totally sold on his managerial ability yet as it has been hidden by goals...

sockeye Posted 8 December, 2025 Posted 8 December, 2025 while I think we still need a keeper, I don’t think it’s likely to happen this window I’d like another forward.
