Slightly surprising selection. Assuming Quarshie is in for his athleticism, hope Tonda has told him to play every bit like the beast he is and not hold back.

Downes for Bragg felt like it was coming and everything else is business as usual. Really intrigued to see how we balance our own attacking width with what will probably be a rapid counter attack.

If that was a Pompey team that would all be the same person

Vestergaard is 6 foot 6, Quarshie is 6 foot 5.

that's the reason I'm placing on that selection

Quarshie to deal with Fatawu on the counter?

I think it's a bit of both. It's a pace and height decision.

It's the way he completely misses his kick sometimes that gets me.

Other than that there's a player in there.

Stephens or Quarshie? Could probably apply to any of our centre backs

Quarshie is fast, our other centre backs aren't. He hopefully helps deal with Leicester's attacking pace in a way Stephens couldn't.

I’d rather have Quarshie than Vestergaard. He’s got the raw materials to be a good defender, he’s not going to improve without game time either. Our other summer signings (bar Downs) have started to click, let’s hope it’s Quarshie’s turn.

Interesting changes. I was wondering whether we'd go unchanged or not.

Hopefully not so many as to be unsettling. Looking forward to this.

3-1 Saints. Back to the old school score!

But Big Jannick can't jump or run

Vestergaard is incredibly slow, he cant jump & always has at least one mistake in him.

We all thought he was quality and well worth the money you paid for him.

He was glacial for us so dread to think what he’s like a few years on. I suppose if you never had pace you don’t have to adapt to the loss of it either.

Hughes and Bowen weren’t chuffed with Mr Sanatogen for signing Jannik

Yeah you don't need to tell us. Sadly we are all too familiar with his faults. Did he play for us in the 0-9 game?

Helping Manning out; would have been tempted to play Wellington, a better defender.   I suppose our old mate Manning has been in pretty good form. Good lineup though.   C’mon Saints.

Well that puts paid to conspiracy theories that Stephens is undroppable!

In guessing he’s got a niggle or something

Is this where we kick on and get a good result against a good team

or

Is it where we a brought back down to earth with a bump ??

Dont feel too confident if I am honest because the defence is still suspect.

Big test for the team and the coach

Could be a bore draw. But with the likes of Scienza, Fellows, Azaz, AA, Fatawu and Mavididi on the pitch I'd be amazed if there aren't goals goals goals

Belly full of winter-style food, bottle of Old Peculiar on the go, wife asleep on the sofa next to me (with an unguarded glass of Rioja....big mistake) and a cat on my lap.

Nothing wrong with being an armchair fan when it's cold out, and work starts early tomorrow.

Let's do this fucking thing!

3-1 Saints.

Couple of dodgy bits from Quarshie early on, then a promising run from Leo and an early attack for Saints was offside.

I wish I was working tomorrow, I can watch about 60 minutes of this game then I'm off to work to deal with the tail end of the Chelsea/Barcelona game for my sins.

Two Fd passes from FD, progress there then.

Still think going forward it has to be Jander and Bragg/Romeu.
