Midfield_General Posted Sunday at 13:59 Posted Sunday at 13:59 (edited) They smash us 9-0 on our own patch and then sign not one but two of the defenders who helped make that happen. A geriatric Ryan Bertrand whose legs had gone, and £15m for the BP shipping fleet's Jannik Vestergaard. Then they tonk us 5-0 and 4-1 in the same season and decide that one of the stalwarts of that side, strollin' Joe Aribo, now another two years older and three stone heavier, is just the man to inject the fight and passion they'll need for the scrap to stay away from the relegation zone, and offer to take his wages and Gregg's bill off our payroll for the rest of the season. Not only that, but if rumours are to be believed they have also put the man who masterminded those two defeats, Russell 'Call Me Russ' Martin, at the top of their wish list to be their new manager. Then, just for the lols, they put Ralph the 9-0 guy on there as a fallback as well. So, Leicester City, we thank you 🙏. In our darkest days you never fail to bring joy and laughter, and your board increasingly make the clown show running our club look like the pinnacle of strategic excellence. Now, would you like to buy a goalkeeper and a left back? They're both Irish internationals, you'll love them. Edited Monday at 08:51 by Midfield_General 1 39

This only works if they can procure the services of a manager who is going to get the best out of them. Fortuitously, Russell Martin is sniffing around his next gig at the moment.
Tamesaint Posted Sunday at 14:43 Posted Sunday at 14:43 Is there the remotest possibility of them receiving a points deduction this side of Christmas 2026?? 3

Dr Who? Posted Sunday at 21:28 Posted Sunday at 21:28 The place that I get my car serviced at here in Carlisle is owned by a Scottish bloke who is a Rangers fan. I was talking to him about Russell Martin when he was in charge at Ibrox, and the conversation changed as this Scottish bloke said, “I tell you what that Aribo is on hell of a player”, I thought he was joking, but no him and his Rangers mates season ticket holders think he is brilliant. I left scratching my head in bemusement.

I have to say I can't laugh at Leicester as it's like holding up a mirror to remember just how bad we are, 2016 was best year in our "modern" history, we finished 6th just missing out on Champions league, yet there they were top of the league lifting the trophy with Andrea Bocelli singing Nessum Dorma, they experienced highs way beyond us. 2021 - meeting them at Wembley fa cup semi final, they go on to win the trophy 2024 - both find ourselves in championship, they win the league thrashing us along the way 2025/26 - they are supposed to be in financial trouble signing no new players with a transfer fee yet before last weekend sat above us in the league Will this points deduction ever actually happen? I left scratching my head in bemusement. That was the more mobile version of Aribo. He was played in a lot of positions, helping support shortcomings in the squad. Not least being an emergency forward. The standard of opposition was lower. But played out towards the right of midfield, he had room to control and run with the ball. We saw some glimpses of it, when he was under Martin, and I think right after he joined. Martin had words, and it had an effect. Obviously, we knew better than to play him anywhere he'd been better at while at Rangers.
SaintsBarry74 Posted Monday at 20:18 Posted Monday at 20:18 Doubt they're dumb enough to sign Bazunu after having endured Danny Ward. Would be amusing if they signed Russell Martin.

Baird of the land Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Probably not great timing from saints perspective. The sudden jeopardy of the relegation zone may buck up their performances

Surely the stiffest possible punishment is 6 points, Aribo for the rest of the season and Martin as their new manager for the next 3 years, no take backsies. 1 1

If you fail in your appeal, we will punish you further... *checks Southampton's squad list* ...with Ryan Manning. 7

Every other team in the league gets to unload one player onto them that has to play at least five times. Nobody would abuse PSR ever again. 1
UpweySaint Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago It feels like they’ve got off really lightly - assuming there isn’t more to come- and yet their board have come out with a pithy statement railing against the injustice of it all. Muppets! I think a their more sensible fans will probably be just glad to have it resolved.

I don’t really expect much else but it’s still just a bit pathetic. They are acting in self interest of the club which is their job but the weaseling out of things has left a bad taste and i would just once love to see someone come out and say yeah we fell foul of the rules and accept there had to be a consequence, we’re getting the house in order and will do better. It’s not going to happen and I’m very man yells at clouds here, I’m aware 😅 They’re certainly far from alone and there are also plenty of arguments to say the rules aren’t fit for purpose. Their fans on the whole seem like a decent bunch but the legal clever bollocks just pissed me off I think. I’m probably just bitter about our attempts to beat the rap for our second points deduction failed so spectacularly. Hypocrisy and tribalism from a football fan? Who would think it!
