Should be a game in which we dominate possession and can play a slighlty more attacking side, whilst giving a bit of a rest the starters who've played consistently for the past few weeks.. i.e Bree and Downes.

More nervous about this game than the QPR match. We have a habit of being the gift that keeps giving on. We have to start fast and hit them hard. Longer it it says nil nil the more we will get edgy and the more confidence it will be give them.

I watched a fair bit of the game v Norwich, was surprised to hear their keeper, Dieng, is an emergency loan as thought he was very good keeping Wednesday in the game, Norwich also wasted quite a few chances. Guess most of their players know this is an audition to get a move in the summer.

I do sympathise with Wednesday fans, must be tough turning up each week seeing another defeat with no goals to cheer, used to think of them as our sister club in the 90s where we both had Sanderson as a sponsor,  a few of their legends also starred for us, David Hirst, Gordon Watson, Carlton Palmer, Chris Woods spring to mind

I feel the same way re their fans, their fall and relegation isn’t really due to football and the team, but the previous dickhead owner. I’d like to think we don’t have to go through the singing “going down, going down” sort of tedium on Saturday but it’s probably an obligatory from the songbook for some of the saps.

Can’t say I felt too much for them in the 90’s though, always seemed a bogey team.

We should win comfortably, however this team has some heart in it despite everything it’s been through. It will not be a pushover and if our players are complacent / relaxed about the fixture, we’ll lose.

Why would he change a winning team? He won't!

Start strong, get the game won, then use second half subs to "rest" players.

Despite the joy of Tuesday's result, there is still the ominous memory of Boxing Day,  when we

went to Oxford (and they were in the drop zone) with no form to speak of, and despite our 71%

possession, we managed to lose the game.  Ironically, many of the points we've dropped this season

have been in matches where we had most of the ball -and even more shots than the opposition.

When we get the ball we should attack even more - and not f**k around with dozens of back passes.

Wednesday's current form makes our last season look half-respectable and despite the fact that

they are already relegated - don't think that they won't put up a fight.

I went a few years ago to the Friday night season opener and had a good time in the city before heading on to friends in the north the day after. The trams weren't working so I went in to a pub after the game, got chatting and some local fans gave me a lift back to my digs. It would have been a long walk! We need a different chant:

We all hate our owners, we all hate our owners, la la la la, la la la la!

Probably not nuanced enough, ours just seem incompetent..

Their current predicament is down to Chansiri, but their financial problems go back much longer than that. He bought the club in 2015 but they have been grossly mismanaged since the turn of the century when they were relegated from the PL with massive debts.

Living in the city I know quite a few Wednesday fans, and I really sympathise with them. Barring a couple of promotions from L1 and getting into the Champ playoffs a few seasons ago, they've had such a rough time over decades now.

As for Hillsborough, it's almost embarrassing how much of an eyesore it is for the city now. It's such a run-down, dilapidated shit hole and really should have been demolished and replaced a long time ago.

I often felt similar about Coventry. Especially after they took the SISU bullet - very much there but for the grace of god and all that. Lampard is a bit of a berk but their fans generally seem a good bunch. Much the same Wednesday. They have been truly shafted by Chansiri and I respect the ways they tried to force his hand. The fan on TSP seemed to think they might end up with Ashley and was fairly prosaic about it. For their sake I hope they get somebody who can put them on an even keel.

I think they are about 7 to 1 to win. Its well worth a safety bet as losing this game is exactly what we have done throughout our history

Sheffield Wednesday are one of those teams who always feel to me like they should be in the top division. This is entirely down to collecting Panini football stickers when I was a kid and having loads of copies of their badge as a shiny sticker on my swaps pile that I couldn't get rid of. I must have had about 10 Sheffield Wednesday shinies at one point, literally couldn't give the bastards away.

Applying this scientific criteria more widely, I have decided that Fulham, Brighton, Burnley, Brentford, Bournemouth and Sunderland should be thrown out of the Premier League with immediate effect to be replaced by Sheffield Wednesday, Luton, QPR, Coventry, Wimbledon and Saints.

My wife was given a shiny Panini Saints shiny yesterday in her school. One of her pupils remembered she had a Saints connection (me). Having not had a Panini book for about 45 years, I am a bit of a loss as to where to affix it. I dare not ask for suggestions! My Laptop is probably favourite at this juncture. I know, I know, life in the fast lane....

On the back of your Maths book, next to a crude attempt at a drawing of Robocop, obviously

At least that's where I always had mine :)

Oxford, Blackburn, Norwich all games lost this season when they have been at bottom and playing badly.

None of those are comparable to the mess Sheff Weds are in.

you are of course correct but even you must agree that the sentiment people are referring to is "when Saints are nailed on certainties to win a game" we have a horrible habit of fucking it up!

Yeah, I'd probably start the same team. Maybe bring Charles in for Jander for the "former club" voodoo.

I would expect Charles to come back in, it's possible that Downes may be given a rest as he has started both previous games? Also, Larin may make way for Stewart to start?

Possible. I feel like we may as well protect Stewart in games you would hope we're strong favourites for.

Jelert looks really lightweight to me. I thought he was woeful in the first half of the Leicester FA cup game. He was playing right in front of me and I used terms to like "lightweight", "passive", and "second best" during that 45 minutes. I didnt really watch him in the second half. I think he may have been better, but I wouldn't rest Bree for him.

After his injury earlier in the season, the club isn't going to start Stewart in a midweek game again after he has played a league game the Saturday before. I think the same applies with Charles (who also had a long time out) until he is deemed fully match fit. Seeing as both were rested during the week and the next game after Sheff Wed is eight days after, there seems no reason not to start both this weekend, if they are the preferred choices.

Losing at home to Notts County, who went on to be relegated, was a major factor in us not winning the league in 83/84. Rochdale did the double over us in League One. In the Championship we lost to Doncaster...

I’d love to see eight so would you mind burying yourself in a lead-lined box that no light, sound or human contact can penetrate please

Get someone to dig you up after though 👍

Just realised I don't have my tickets. Has anyone else not had tickets posted? Anyone arranged to collect? Can't contact club as now not open or tomorrow

My tickets arrived ok. But it is not uncommon for them not to make it, such as for Sheffield United. Or for Oxford where Sints neglected to frank the envelope. I usually find the home club are very helpful in giving you duplicates if you can show them your booking details with seat numbers

Since your box specs don't allow for air, there's no real urgency in the digging up bit. 🙂
