So standing in a field outside the training ground that overlooks the training ground, with a mobile phone.

Can that really be sanctioned?

I don't think so, he was in plain site not on the training grounds and left when asked.

Will be some not in the spirit bollox but he wasn't hiding and was on a different property.

The best end for this is a fucking convincing win over the two legs with no mention at all from any one of our players or staff about this ridiculous affair.

Jesus their fans are absolute weapons 😂

This sounded quite funny at first but turning quite serious. Their form suddenly getting unbelievablely better when the manager took over is probably not a coincidence. Absolute cheating cunts”

“joking aside if this was a title decider in the EPL, involving pep, arteta,Liam, etc etc this game wouldn't be going ahead tomorrow ,absolutely no chance”

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Some are calling for them to get some dodgy ref decisions. Oh so now you don’t mind a bit of cheating?

So, is Flynn Downes doing the Boro catering tonight? Seems like we have infiltrated them in other areas...

All that's needed now is for us to set off fireworks near all of their players' homes.

Can we send Bonnie Blue into their pre-match breakfast meeting? Get their eyes off the game.

They left off this bit:

Middlesbrough have since been told by whistleblowers that this is not the first time a member of Southampton’s analyst team has been sent to record opposition training sessions this season.

Nothing wrong with that if it's outside 72 hours before the match.

The relevant information is how many other clubs do it.

Middlesbrough are a bunch of hypocrites moaning about us potentially breaking a minor rule, yet no comments on the EFL allowing them to sign a new keeper outside the transfer window?

Blackmore and House just been on Solent saying they believe the story is true.

I'd prefer it if the two of them could say they've done some journalism so that they can tell us whether it's actually true. It wouldn't totally surprise me, but on the other hand it's in the Telegraph.

Nah, keep quiet and let the storm in a teacup pass.

They essentially told us it was true without saying it explicitly. Adam has obviously spoken to the club.

This is the funniest pre game story since the one in the 70s when there was a threat that someone was going to release a snake on the terraces at the Dell at a Saints v Pompey game.

Just seen the weather forecast, its going to be called off waterlogged pitch now isn't it

Maybe that’s why we’ve been overwatering our pitch the last few games.

Not only do we spy on their training, we control the weather and have been preparing for this for weeks.

Game set and match.

No chance we say anything publicly until at least after tuesday night.

I can foresee a club statement along these lines:

As part of our normal logistical preparations for an away game, a junior member of Saints staff was sent to Middlesbrough. He walked near to the Middlesbrough training ground on land open to the general public but, at no time, entered it. This was on his own initiative and he was not instructed by the club to make any recordings of training. The club has not seen any of the videos that it is alleged he recorded. Southampton FC is aware that this incident has caused controversy and apologises to Middlesbrough FC for any distress caused. The staff member has been given words of advice.

Didn’t happen until the Carling Cup game and Westwood took a slash on the seats.

Ok spygate has got me out of retirement.

So walking around in a public area on a different property to the training ground, with an iPhone in hand, making a phone call constitutes spying. Wtf. This story is just put out the to garner sympathy and wip up the Boro fans into a frenzy....

Exactly. They didn’t even catch him when he popped into the golf club to recover his hidden hold-all, take a shit, change clothes, put on a wig, stupid glasses and a fake moustache before making his escape in his car.

When Leeds got in trouble for it the rule setters (EFL / FA?) didn’t change the rules to ban what Leeds did, they just introduced a time frame you couldn’t do it. Within 72hrs of a game.

it must happen a lot tbh, especially with technology these days.

Funny that on Tuesday a fellow fan and I were talking about going up he actually said…if we could win at Wembley then get a points deduction to stay down. He loves winning in the championship

I have a bad feeling about the outcome of this.

It is what it is, nobody really knows what happened exactly, what the club will do and what any punishment would be. No point stressing over it as a fan. The play-offs will go ahead, the players will remain focused and it's business as usual for now.

They aren’t going to kick Southampton out of the play offs because some fuckwit took a trip up north with a mobile phone.

There are so many cracks in the story now it’s bordering on bullshit.

The bbc are stating that the analyst who most believe to be the intern Will Salt whom Boro staff recognised from the picture on the official Southampton website , I’ve not looked but would we have a picture of an intern on the website so that can be proved ?

This is a complete lie which puts the whole complaint in doubt. Maybe they should be asked to point to the picture of Will Salt on our official website.
