Pip Posted May 15 Posted May 15 This is beyond ludicrous now. Boro are definitely bringing the game into disrepute and I hope we are storing up enough evidence to sue them to Kingdom come.ย In no way is this worthy of a fine of millions and a 6 or more point penalty but those figures are being bandied about so that we're relieved when it's less than that. Only positive is that the longer it goes on, the deeper Gibson digs himself in. 8

BotleySaint Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Honestly, at this point aren't Middlesborough just opening themselves up to legal challenge? It's starting to get to the point where a fair trial simply isn't possible due to the amount of whining BS they've been spouting in the media. We'll have to be let off as it's no longer possible to reach an unbiased opinion with all that noise! BBC have really conducted themselves like idiots too. Clearly a Middlesborough fan in their ranks. I'd love to see Middlesborough try to prove how we had a competitive advantage over the two games by looking at the footage. You wouldn't even get past the first half of the first leg before concluding that's just a nonsense opinion. They were all over us! 2

Holmes_and_Watson Posted May 15 Posted May 15 14 minutes ago, The Kraken said: I thought that too. Maybe because the infringement of the 72 hours rule also automatically brings the other one into play. Dunno lol. But the 72 hour rule is definitely written in such a way that one can assume watching training outside of the 72 hours is ok. It does. The 72 hours thing is because clubs will work on their match tactics within that period. By putting that number into the rule, clubs know when it's fair play to work on specifics. With training grounds being wide open, breaching it brings in the good faith part of it. As for punishments, it's a larger fine than Leeds. Larger, but with an eye to not being as large to fines that would be handing out for dodgy payments, contracts etc such as a Chelsea were doing. Any immediate points deductions, or for next season, would be disproportionate. It impacted a single post league game, as far as we know and not involving the everyone else is doing it. If the EFL want to impose more extreme punishments, then they should look at updating the rules. 3

Cabrone Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I'm thinking the young analyst screwed his days up, he was supposed to get there on Wednesday but something caused him to lose a day and he thought he'd chance it to not get in trouble. Young, naive and maybe a bit too eager to please. OK, fair enough the club takes a fine and possible 3 points but it's hardly international espionage, more keystone cops. Boro then sense an opportunity to get back into the playoffs, have a massive overreaction, pump up a media shit storm and generally trash SFC in a hail Mary attempt to keep their season alive even though they lost fair and square. Now they are trying to influence the EFL with overbearing bully boy tactics. Had they discreetly gone to the EFL with their concerns they would have credibility. However their constant shouting and stirring is losing them any sympathy they initially had. I doubt the EFL will appreciate their conduct. On top of that they may face consequences w.r.t how they went about their business as this may have serious commercial implications for SFC. They and their media lap dogs have tried to defame the club before the club have ever had a chance to properly reply. ย 7
