Saints v Hull - Play Off Final - Saturday 23rd (maybe)

Totally agree with you about Hull, I have been thinking the same. Massive game for them and a great achievement for them. They are completely innocent bystanders in all this and now their fans, team and club have to live with all this uncertainty, hassle in making their travel plans etc. What an utter mess and shambles.

Judging from their local media, they don't want to play Middlesbrough, who beat them 4-1 at home, and they don't want  their preparations and travel arrangements messed up by having the final postponed to a later date. They very much want the final to go ahead as planned, on May 23, against a Saints team they did the double over this season.

Other Championship clubs Middlesbrough have contacted will be weighing up who they'd prefer to face next season: Saints on a long unbeaten run or a fading Middlesbrough team. Of course, they'll also be factoring in the effect of a possible points deduction.

Meanwhile we have Pompey fans pretending to be Saints fans posting on local Teesside media, "we think you should be given our final place at Wembley."

Everyone has their own agenda in this.

Igorning this spying nonsense their form before the play offs was pretty poor, 3 wins in 12, one of this was home to Sheffield Wednesday. Didnt realise Mcburnie had got 17 league goals, he absolutely bullied us up at their place. Can see it being a tight game.

Yep it’s not going to be a walkover. Mcburnie is the issue for me too - control him and a lot of their forward play is easily nullified

Hopefully, Hull will complain to the EFL that they've prepared to play Southampton, whereas Middlesbrough have prepared to play Hull, which puts them at an unfair advantage - more advantage than you'd get from some kid with an i-phone half a mile from a training pitch.

Rumour has it Boro players have been given the weekend off but will be back in training on Monday. I say rumour because I got it from their forum and you can't believe anything they say right now because their minds are made up that they'll definitely be in the final.

What is Hull's usual attendance? Long way to come too.

I went back to Hull a couple of weeks ago. It's a fair old hike, but the train from 'ull to Kings cross on a Sunday morning only took 2 hours 32 minutes.

Sorted my tickets while still managing to talk on a work zoom call without them knowing what I was doing. It was that easy, I don't know why people have so much trouble with this stuff.

Sorted, but still had the issue of it saying I didn’t have permission to proceed or something once through waiting room. Then clicked on ticket link again and it worked.

Got 4 tickets in 2nd tier so I'm happy with that.  Only actually need one ticket but I'm an anti social bugger and it gives me room to stretch out.

Sell some to Boro fans they can see how yo play football.

You probably shouldn't, there isn't going to be a game at SMS for weeks. Do the security guards know you're there? Are you a spy? :suspicious:

Well I've just read that apparently Middlesbrough have officially approached the EFL and demanded we are removed from the final and they take our place, you couldn't make this up, the neck to officially ask for our removal....

It’s just pr, and Gibson explaining to Boro that they have no part in this process. I don’t think many of them had realised it’s EFL charging Southampton for a breach of rules, reported by Boro. Got zero to do with Boro now. So, he needs to plot his way to litigating against us once the verdict has been handed down, so that they are directly compensated. Basically he wants cash from us.

Safe zone for when you fart after your pre-match pie and several pints.

Yes you can.

If anyone has the ability to get a ticket but can't go and would happily pass it on, please DM me...I can get one but not two and my brother in law and nephew want to go if they possibly can. My nephew is too young to travel up on his own and my brother in law won't go without taking him which I totally understand

Thanks if anyone can help me, it would be very appreciated 👏🏻

Real shame that there’s next to no interest in the actual footballing side of this tie as it stands. I think the first goal will be absolutely huge in this tie. They’re pretty decent on the break but not the most expansive, there should be chances both ways. Score first and I think we’ll be fine, I don’t love the idea of them leading then sitting in and playing on the break though.

Fitness depending, I think the team pretty much picks itself for this one. I think Fellows/Matsuki is probably Tonda’s biggest headache and possibly whether Captain Jack is fit or not. Our bench is ridiculously strong at this level regardless.

Any idea how ticket sales are going?

Very well, on sale to season ticket holders with one away game at the moment but that includes FA Cup semi

All lower and middle tier sold out, fair few upper have gone, still have half the upper tier to go on sale still which will happen on Monday once existing blocks go.

Two years ago we were given an additional 1000 after selling out taking it to 36,900 so could be scope for that to happen again. Expect it will sell out Tuesday.  Looking forward to it

CM is his biggest headache. He's got 3 excelllent players and unless he changes his spots he'll have to pick only 2 of them. Given how well charles and Jander played i'd lean to towards it being them.

Judging by Nathan Woods reaction this morning in Winchester coffee lab, he is tired of all this as well or maybe that's just his default 🤣

Were you spying on him? Probably trying to enjoy a rare Saturday day off

Personally think it’s got the potential to be a cracking game of football. Think we should gave enough assuming all are fit and we handle mcbernie well. They are dangerous on the break and they will get an opportunity through the game. We will want to dominate the ball and play in their half in the main or try to drag them out to get in behind - we are more than capable of both.

Keep mcburnie contained and stay tight to belloumi and think we will have too much for them

Anyone thinking of not going because of our alleged spying , consider this. Yes I want to strangle ( figuratively speaking) whoever in the club thought that the rewards for doing this outweighed the risks, let alone the moral question, but the innocent party in this, besides the fans of all clubs is the players. It is their careers on the line and it can not help but have has an effect on them. They have been brilliant for us for the last few months and deserve our support more than ever. I for one will be singing and shouting louder than ever next Saturday (if we play)

Bearing in mind Manning hasn’t got tight to a right winger all season, that might be asking a bit much. Need to keep Belloumi busy with doubling up on Scienza

I hope not, but there was someone yesterday on one of the threads, and talk of tickets being easy to get that made me think it might be.

It looks at this stage (before it goes on sale to members) that more tickets have been sold for this game than for the FA Cup semi final.

Who gets all the middle tier tickets? Are these corporates?

60% of middle tier is various "neutral" club wembley passes, mostly owned by London based corporate companies who use them for entertaining clients, annual pass covers all England games, FA Cup semis , FA Cup final, Carabao final and play offs. Company i work for had them for years, often went unused unless big 6 team involved.

40% of middle tier is then split between teams competing like we had in semi final, Saints have already sold out of our allocation of those. Its a padded seat with a good view.

Agree that take up by season ticket holders appears to be very high, we have 10k plus members who can buy from Monday afternoon
