Wade Garrett Posted Tuesday at 18:02 Posted Tuesday at 18:02 Glad I switched off as soon as the Argies scored their first. Predictable.
BotleySaint Posted Tuesday at 18:03 Posted Tuesday at 18:03 (edited) I can understand the frustration from Egypt. Especially given the precedent set earlier in the game. If it was England we'd be indignant Edited Tuesday at 18:05 by BotleySaint
skintsaint Posted Tuesday at 18:05 Posted Tuesday at 18:05 Funny how we never got a proper look at it, oh wait because it was Messi's Argentina that will be it....🤦 6

Argument would have been constructed to say "too far back in the move".

BARCELONASAINT Posted Tuesday at 19:55 Posted Tuesday at 19:55 (edited) Fantastic game earlier, Egypt really only have themselves to blame. They had the game won and then imploded with some lousy defending and Messi doing what Messi has always done. Yup some VAR decisions were questionable but we all know VAR is shit and thats one of the reasons we enjoyed the Championship so much last season. I said at the start of this tournament Argentina were not particularly good having watched a lot of their qualifiers. They rely so much on their talisman and he has not failed to deliver in every game he's played in this tournament. He took his goal magnificently. Should we get to the semi final and Argentina do likewise we should be confident of beating them providing we are not without the likes of Bellingham and Rice who are sitting on yellow cards ahead of the Norway game. Saint Pete Posted Tuesday at 21:35 Posted Tuesday at 21:35 Missed the first half, but on basis of 2nd half so far, can't see either of these beating Argentina (or Egypt if they had got through). So if we can deal with Erling on Saturday, reckon it'll be the Argies in the semi, but wouldn't be too worried about that having watched their game earlier. Reckon Norway may be the bigger challenge as Haaland is so difficult to deal with.

Polaroid Saint Posted Tuesday at 22:08 Posted Tuesday at 22:08 (I don't think this has any relevance to the dullness of this game...) ...but I find my self ranking the World Cup Managers on their assumed relationship to The Fall. Murat Yakin looks like he might have played percussion for The Fall during their early nineties toura of Southern Europe/Near Asia in the early nineties. Néstor Lorenzo absolutely, I am sure, did the booking and ticketing for Mark E Smith + others during The Falls difficult late nineties period. Looks like a man who knows his way around the whiskey options of a 7-11 or Spar. 1 2
die Mannyschaft Posted Tuesday at 22:21 Posted Tuesday at 22:21 More chance of a red card than a goal. But Trump will get red removed for whoever plays Argentina.

Lighthouse Posted Tuesday at 22:52 Posted Tuesday at 22:52 I don't know why players attempt these stupid 'run up and thump it' penalties. Just do a stuttering run up and stick it the other side of the keeper FFS!! 1 1
die Mannyschaft Posted Tuesday at 22:53 Posted Tuesday at 22:53 How to bore the opposition to death and progress to QF. I suppose If England find themselves struggling v Norway they can allways do a Switzerland. Thank god that games over.

I cant imagine any England players doing these pens in QF or SF if in pen shoot out.

Holmes_and_Watson Posted Tuesday at 23:05 Posted Tuesday at 23:05 Egypt's Zico can expect to be in a bit of bother. "It's clear that the tournament has been fixed." Can't imagine Infantino or host Trump putting up with such a scurrilous accusation. Presumably stemming from them moaning about a penalty, rather than focusing on defending their goal. Both Switzerland and Columbia also spent a fair amount of time play acting. 1

Both Switzerland and Columbia also spent a fair amount of time play acting. They've got a pretty fair grievance in fairness. If VAR is going to intervene and disallow that Zico goal for a very minor foul in the build up, then they have to at least review Argentina's 3rd goal as well for consistency. The argument against that is that if they had deemed it a foul on Salah and disallowed the goal, then the ref has to award a penalty to them and it wasn't enough of a foul to justify that. But we've seen VAR give penalties for less in this tournament - like the one they gave Mexico against us. 1

He was doing the crossed arms signal to the ref when his team were under pressure, trying to force a pause in the game. Then completely forgets about alleged abuse, not a good look for him.
