pimpin4rizeal Posted Thursday at 00:46 Posted Thursday at 00:46 Good result really .. if he carries on the level he’s been at so far we would be lucky to even have him in 2028. can’t believe so many people wanted him out really sports republic have made some shit decisions in their time, but this seems a real step in the right direction from solak to put the results and football first .. Dragon has gone way up in my opinion 5

Home results are obviously not an issue but Tonda needs to improve the away performances and results. To be fair to him we should have beaten Wrexham but didn't take our chances in the first half, Birmingham draw was a decent result but Watford and Lincoln performances were below par. 3

Give him a new contract asap or he won't be here next season - regardless of which league we're in. You don't let a manager like Eckert run his contract down. 8

It's more the recruitment who left us with not a lot to come off the bench.

"Football gives you a chance to connect rather than divide". Nice. Tonda has always spoken impressively, but that that press conference was superb. What struck me is how much of a proper manager of the players he is, rather than just a coach. I suspect many managers would have avoided the Israel/Ireland issue like the plague before the players went, but he was all over it. 6

Agreed, but my worry now is that Tonda gets 'cancelled', a la Ed Sheeran, for taking a neutral stance on a political matter... 2

Said right from the first interview with Tonda that he was a very measured man. He doesn’t avoid the questions and will always answer to the best of his abilities. This press conference was always going to be a little more difficult (hence sky turning up) and he handled it superbly. It cannot be easy having every word analysed especially as it’s your second language. The players must love working with such an honest individual. 7
Pilchards Posted Friday at 08:15 Posted Friday at 08:15 I always feel with Tonda that he’s not going to leave us anytime soon. Many managers in the past would leave after a season or two like Hoddle and Poch did because the demand for them elsewhere was too much. I suppose Tonda will feel he owes us something plus many clubs wouldn’t touch him because of the spygate situation. 1

I'm not sure the demand for Tonda elsewhere is anything close to the other managers you've mentioned. Right now he needs to pull his finger out just to match Russell Martin's points tally. When he gets us promoted and we're having a solid PL season, then I'll start worrying about him getting poached by bigger clubs.
DT Posted Friday at 08:23 Posted Friday at 08:23 Presumably we get a new manager when the ban kicks in then? 😉

Does that mean all other clubs are cheating somehow?

Not sure he's that far behind Russboy who led us to a season total of 87 points. We currently have 10 points which would be 14 without the deduction so if we can win against Pompey that would be 17 points actually won from 9 games. This equates to an average per game of 1.88 which, if maintained, would give us a season end total of 86.88 (less the 4 point deduction of course). Lose or draw to Pompey and I appreciate it's a different equation. However, I'm reasonably confident we will win on Sunday and go on to finish the season with more than 87 points but others will take a different view which is fair enough.

Which is a long winded way of saying if he beats Pompey he’ll still be a fraction worse than Martin in terms of PPG. Like I said, he needs to up his game before we start talking about bigger clubs snatching him away. 3

Some clubs (especially abroad) will identify his work/talent/potential regardless of the overall outcome and might be interested if his contract doesn't get renewed. 2
Willo of Whiteley Posted Friday at 10:35 Posted Friday at 10:35 I think he’s on his way to earning a new contract but the away form is a concern. We need to beat Portsmouth and cement ourselves in the top four at least given our points deduction; and go to teams like Watford and Lincoln and simply batter them. Not show up expecting it’ll be a walk.

Have to hope this episode and support from those around him at the club will have secured some goodwill. He mentioned Dragan, Johannes, and (more surprisingly perhaps) Phil in his interview, which I hope bodes well. My thought is that the new contract was probably in the pipeline towards the end of last season, but was put back in the drawer after ‘Spygate’ erupted. I’d expect it to be dusted off again soon. Really hope Tonda gets us up and has a crack in the EPL. 1

We dont look as sharp and switched on and maybe the poor pre season has had an impact BUT now he's in the clear we have to now push on, personally I think the club should've got rid of him and Parsons, and I still believe Parsons shouldve gone but hopefully Tonda can pay back the fans and get us moving forward, too late for top 2 but so we're in good form come play offs

Indeed. This time last year: Leicester were 3rd Preston were 4th Stoke were 5th West Brom were 7th Ipswich were 9th Hull were 15th We were 17th Wrexham were 18th Derby were 20th The table now is pretty irrelevant. 2

Rohl delivered surprisingly good results given how much of a train wreck Wednesday were, getting the maximum out of the players available. It was enough to get him a job at Rangers, which is a job more on par with a decent Championship than a step up. Tonda will need to get into the hunt for the autos and stay there if he wants a bigger job at another club. Having one of the best squads in this league and finishing 6th or 7th isn't going to bring people knocking. 1

I would think, for a young 33 year old manager, taking his side from lower mid table to finish 4th and 6th or 7th this season (assuming you are correct) might bring quite a few people Knocking.
