Well, I don't know a lot about Lewis and was worried that he would be an outsider who was saddled with handicaps but hopefully he will turn out to be a thoroughbred who can do the business furlong time...

Hopefully he'll be the glue that brings the whole team together.

Heard today that only five players had more goal contributions in the league last year than Dobbin and he rarely played a full 90 minutes so that makes him seem more impressive.

Not entirely his fault but a pretty crap start for this lad it has to be said. Obviously only two games so far and plenty of time to come good but at present nowhere near Azaz and hasn't done much in terms of being an attacking threat either.

According to the report we beat a host of Championship teans to his signature, including Middlesbrough. That's fuckin hilarious if true.

Perhaps they’ll have the last laugh with the bloke they later brought in (for a position we needed).

I fear he might fall into the ‘not quite sure what his best position is’ type of player.

We were told by Preston fans he isn't very good on the left. No idea why he was being played there today.

From what I’ve seen the past 2 games it’s pretty clear, substitute.

Fine if he makes an impact when he gets off his arse, but does he ?

I really struggle to see how he fits in our squad tbh.

Hes not a target man, he’s not that pacey. He doesn’t appear to have the touch/guile of a 10

So far he reminds me of Archer but without the shooting ability. Hope he settles down and it works out, but I think it’s a weird signing.

Odd, that's exactly how I described him to someone earlier.

Think archer would have been the better choice today out wide .

I think the difficulty is there are already players for this position. Azaz is the starter. Matsuki has done well, is a AM by nature but we have this weird habit of playing him wide when he doesn’t have as much pace.

Bringing Dobbin into the mix is a good option, but clearly he hasn’t been brought in as a starter.

We’ve got multiple players for the RW, AM and LW positions now - ability is questionable for all of them though, very weak on the right hand side and left/centre heavy.

I said that, sad. Hope he picks up as he settles.

I thought he showed some neat touches and beat the opposition a couple of times.

Definitely think he's better off in the middle. Didn't the PNE fans say that?

Will come good I reckon.

Yeah. They said he was at his best when he gets on the ball in central areas behind a focal point who can hold it up / lay it off

Azaz had a slow start, let’s give him time.

Exactly this.

Not sure why he didn't start in the middle with Leo in his favoured position, but there we are. Thought he got in some good positions, one which he should have definitely got a shot off from in the first half but he passed instead.

I think he will grow as the season goes on.

I didn't see the game due to other commitments. Did he look confident on the ball? What was his touch like? Was there a talented player there? It was a sizeable chuck of cash, so I'd hope he at least looked like a talent even if nothing came off yesterday.

He was mostly playing from the left with Leo somewhere in the middle of the parm

was crap all round. We looked much better when Leo went wide and Azaz came on.

weirdly, Tonda has been shifting Leo more centrally at times in the last group of league games.

need Azaz fully fit ASAP

He looked decent enough IMO. Touch, agility, movement and picking up spaces you'd want but yes things didn't come off and he doesn't play like Azaz so people don't trust it. He's only just started, no need for overreaction.

I’m sure our wonderful analysts have run the profile, complied the videos and crunched the data to make sure he CANNOT fail here

I guess any perceived "overreaction" might be less down to his performance yesterday and more down to the realisation that he's seemingly not the "Cover for Azaz" type player that the club said they were going to source, and we were lead to believe this was said player...?

It would make a mockery of us spying on him for six months if he did!

He is though. He just happens to have some different qualities and the flexibility to play elsewhere as well. He’s his own player in his own right but is quite obviously still the player people perceived him to be before his first two games.

Like Baz does?  Maybe he's our Azaz replacement?

What do you want him to do? Literally just play the same way as Azaz and sit there like a good boy when Azaz is fit? Or is he allowed to have his own attributes and contribute to the team when Azaz is fit too?

Why's he not? His best position is Azaz's best position and he chipped in with a good amount of goals and assists from that position last season...

Fair enough... I guess people might have been expecting him to be more similar to Azaz, rather than someone who "doesn't play like Azaz".

Anyway... Early days... Interesting to see how he progresses 👍🏻

I'd like to see someone who doesn't do very much with the ball, looks to recycle it, doesn't  appear to have any dribbling skills, can't pick a pass, doesn't have any vision and contributes nothing in terms of making something happen, breaking the lines, putting them under pressure, getting in a good shot etc. I saw him at Eastleigh and wasn't impressed but it was early on. Didn't think much of the game against the German opposition and didn't think much of him at the Colchester game. As I said, we have to play differently to accommodate him and that basically just means playing in front of the opposition and lack invention, guile, style, or penetration. So useful stuff.

I'll take the point that he's new, but all I've seen is that he's reasonable two-footed (which is a good thing) and apparently (but not really seen it and given how we'll play don't expect to see much of it) he's a good outlet when we're under the cosh because he's fast. And that basically means we need someone to 'feed' him and unless it's going to be THB with an early ball (but if he's in the middle he'll be outnumbered and I see nothing about him to suggest he can manage that) then he'll be stuck with a defence to beat.

Someone said he took up good positions etc in the first half so maybe there's something there but currently I don't see him as being a worthwhile attacking midfielder and clearly he's not a winger or a centre forward so I don't know what he is.

Presume he'll start against Stoke so we can see what he can bring to that game.

So far, he has yet to show that he is either better than Archer or more suitable for our preferred way of playing.  Not impressed with him so far but, after several more games, I hope that I shall be.   🤞🤞🤞

Is he fast because my impression so far is that he's a bit slow.
