JRod to come on and turn the screw and bag our second of the night, 2-0.

Steven Davis will start, 99% certain. I would suggest instead of Juanmi or Clasie. Otherwise the team almost picks itself as above.

Honestly don't think Clasie should start yet. Doesn't know his team-mates well enough, doesn't know our system, isn't fit enough.

How did you think he should get to know how his team-mates play, get to know our system and get match fit? Wouldn't playing a match help?

Reed or Davis alongside Vic.

Reed hasn't exactly played a lot for the 1st team either and Davis often plays in an attacking midfield role and may do again on Thursday.

Full first team with Pelle leading the line at home, win 6-0, and then rest most of the first team on the away leg. Play J-rod, Long and Juanmi on the away leg as a counter attack team to get the away goal Follow up with a fully rested first 11 (ish) to hump Newcastle...........If Carlsberg did Europa league games:D

Point 1: Longer with the squad, more training, minutes in the Espanyol game, minutes as a sub in the prem

Point 2: Reed has been around the 1st team for a while, knows how we play, has experience of prem-level tempo, is much fitter and is (at the moment) a more effective defensive midfielder.

Was saying much the same to my 15 yr old son, on way back from St Mary's yesterday after buying him his new home shirt

When we were in administration and even later when Cortese came out and said that despite us starting the season on minus 10 points, that we'd be back in the premier league in 5 years, that in 2015 we'd have been in premier league again for 3 seasons, just about to start 4th and would also be in in Europa league, with a Wembley win along the way.

What an incredible journey from Tuesday nights in Hartlepool to Thursday nights in Arnhem, I've loved it all.

Agreed,

I think the darkest day for me was when we lost 0-3 at home to Watford the season we got relegated to League one. I left early that game, it's the only time I have!!

To be in the Europe League & a strong, established mid table premier league side has been some journey!!

The hospitality seat question has some relevance to it, given that there are over 1,700 of them in the stadium.

Just because he decided to support the same group of 11 men kicking a ball around a field as you doesn't mean he represents or should embarrass you. If that is what happened then he embarrassed himself, not you or any other Saints fan.

I saw a Liverpool fan-written article that suggested their second string were good enough to win the Europa League... You have to hand it to them, they know a thing or two about arrogance...

By their second string, they weren't referring to us, where they?

Quite some boast when their first choice XI couldn't beat Besiktas over two legs in February.

LOLZ as the kids say.

Well, quite...

http://www.thisisanfield.com/2015/07/second-string-liverpool-xi-bring-europa-league-success/

My bad, they've been sensible about it... After writing an entire article in which they build themselves up as though to suggest they can do it.

"Using a second-string XI will be a considerable risk, but Liverpool do have the quality in their ranks to progress.

"Whether they can truly succeed, however, is unlikely."

Sold out and under floodlights, and because people have had to specifically buy the tickets there shouldn't be any gaps for season ticket holders who can't make the game: the place should be buzzing. It might be worthwhile getting there a few minutes earlier than usual.

Early round of the Euopa, decent price and we sell out; perhaps we need a bigger ground? ;-) /ducks/
