Nope, I liked Koeman. This thread is to highlight to people like you that Puel really isn't doing a bad job.

Ok, we'll have occasional setbacks in the season, but that isn't the time for the endless negative drivel. Look at the bigger picture and we remain with a good chance of finishing top of the "best of the rest" outside the top 6 rich clubs.

Scoring more goals would of course be nice, but it is points/league positions that matter and Puel so far is performing well.

Good stat. I was in the Puel camp anyway, but it's reassuring to see that stat if only to calm my already shattered nerves. Having said that, I just took a look at the table, and I saw that everyone above is has a right to be there, and we are in a position that is a fraction above where we should expect to be. From here on in, the rest of the season will be about showing character and trying to sneak a couple of places above our weakest "superiors" in this division.

We're now on the same points total as game-week 20 last season. So 3 'free shot' games to come.

Interesting...those 3 games are fairly tough though, Spurs Baggies and Everton again I believe. 5 points would be a very good return from those.

It's amazing what you can 'prove' when you cherry pick statistics, isn't it mate?

Apart from a few games our play under Koeman was generally poor.I never understood why we mocked West Ham for their hoofball when we were pretty much the most hoofball team in the league. Winning games clouds the judgement on how we performed.

To quote another poster, we need to win 'our' league and see where that gets us. It may be possible to snatch 6th but it isn't likely - 7th is the best we can do this year.

That's not something I've heard leveled at us since coming back to the premier league , We've generally been known as a good footballing side who play it "the right way" what ever that is !?

Yes, Koeman had Mane last season but was also out of Europe and 5 places below where we are now at this stage of the season. Mane only really started firing on all cylinders in the second half of the season. From what I've seen of Boufal thus far, it wouldn't surprise me if he had a similar impact this season.

Not so sure about that mane went 4 months without a league goal ( Liverpool away to Liverpool at home) and was generally gash all through mid season.

2015 Relentless Koeman winning machine = 5 wins.

2016 Claude Puel without a Scooby how to win games = 6 wins.

Not celebrated what the this shows isn't we haven't got substantially worse despite what you an others have tried to make out.

We lost a manager, some good players, had to play far more games than previous seasons all in a league arguably harder than last seasons and yet we are pretty much maintaining our level good news I'd say.

Well Puel has played a lot more fixtures and has rotated the squad brilliantly and given the academy players a chance. I thought Koeman was a good manager too, by the way.

I still think that Puel is a good manager, as was Koeman.

Its clear to all sensible fans that whilst things can always improve we are absolutley nowhere near as bad as

the "doom posse" are making out but the desperation they are showing to avoid giving any credit to the club this season is a bit pathetic.

We all knew RK and the players who left were decent but is has not become dooms day and our abilty to move forward

should be respected.

Of course, I'd say it's not all about results - style of football & chances given to academy players should also be considered - but if we are only looking at results here it's worth bearing in mind that what made last season so successful was our performance from January onwards (even if we did seem a bit lucky at times).

I live in Quebec and have to speak french 3-4 times a day and even though I can mostly be understood, I can only converse with very simple French and the hardest thing is to put inflection into the correct parts of words/sentences. Maybe he is doing a MP. I can't imagine any manager likes doing media duties. Make yourself as boring as possible, and maybe they leave you alone. MP decided to do it differently via his translator.
