Pompey Takeover Saga

So PST want the players to drop 75% of their settlement. If they do, Portpin will want the same, if the offer is not matched I'd expect Portpin to be more difficult for PST to negotiate with!

I'm surprised there hasn't been a leak of Portpin's new conditions, maybe they're reasonable!!!!

appleton said: ‘i spoke to trevor at the weekend to see if i could have a copy of their (portpin’s) cash flow and what they expect to spend.

‘he’s mentioned the offers and it’s about sifting through that. Then he has to see what is the best offer to take the club forward.’

no you gimp, it's about the the best offer for the creditors, or have you completely ****ing ignored that small point again.

Hopefully it is just BS, but even so, any sniff of them signing more players is disgraceful.

No idea who Peter Gilbert is but if they're trying to sign Delroy Facey then, frankly, I say let them carry on... he wasn't even good at that level 10 years ago

In Delroy Facey's 15 year professional career he's played for 14 different clubs, and that doesn't include Hull shipping him out on loan for a 2nd stint at Huddersfield.

Mike Handjob. Hey Penny, the recession is hitting hard, we need to help the city - shall we look into generating jobs across Hampshire by seeking funding from central government for regeneration schemes?

Moneypenny. Or shall we share concerns with Cameron and Clegg about defence cuts that are creating hardship in our constituencies?

Mike Handjob. Sounds a bit boring....

Moneypenny. Tell you what, let's just pointlessly waste a day writing another self-indulgent open letter to a stranger, in an effort to protect a serial tax-dodging money-laundering business that can be linked to local service cuts, ward closures and job losses - and we could eat sticky buns too!

Mike Handjob. Yeah! We'll gloss over the links to organised crime and foreign criminals, I could have my picture in the paper, and you could too! People might vote for us, and we wouldn't even have to do any of the proper work that we are paid for.

Moneypenny. Forget all of that MP drivel, let's just play sports fans for the day!

I'll ask 'a friend' for confidential details of tax affairs, you buy the cakes, get lots, don't wipe your sticky fingers on anyone - and with your big ****gy mane you could also frighten common people in Essex by peering through a hedge at them.

Five wasted hours and two dozen doughnuts later -

Dear Mr Chinny,

you've never heard of us and don't give a sh!t what we think, blah, blah, passionate fans, zzzzz, write off millions, self-promotion, blah, blah, please vote for us, blah, blah, yawn, etc....

I have sadly come to the conclusion - and apologies that its taken me so long, but I do like to give folks the benefit of the doubt - you know, see the best in people, but I have come to the conclusion that Appy is simply too stupid to get it.

If he had a shread of intelligence, a shread of integrity and a brain of any kind really what he should have been saying to the press and fans is really rather different....

So in a parallel universe where Appy is a top man he recently said:

Official statement following announcemnet that none of the current 1 month deals will be renewed (M Appy - Parallel Universe)

''I know its tough on fans, but as manager I have to stand for what is right and together we need to make good - we need the people of Portsmouth , the local businesses and the charities to believe in us again - to see we have really put the wrongs of the past behind us. As difficult as it may be for fans to witness, we will be playing our youngsters - I cannot morally justify spending money on player wages in excess of the bear minimum to put out a team, whilst the club has unpaid debts to creditors and whilst the repayment of that debt is a pittidul 0.2p in the pound - It simply goes against everything I stand for, and would be an affront to my personal and professional integrity - I thereforre call on all fans to support this action, get behind these lads and whatever teh results recognise that this is the only way we can hold our heads up high, and regain some much needed pride and self respect in our club. I will now answeer any questions you may have....''

Appleton primed to make compromise plea to ex-players

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/appleton-primed-to-make-compromise-plea-to-ex-players-1-4202843

‘Then, if it gets to a point where I need to intervene to speak to players who have left the club, then I’ll do my best to do that.

‘We’ll pursue every avenue we need to. If I have to have a conversation with the players who have left then I will do.

That's assuming they agree to reverse the charges when he calls...

Agood read taken from a blog,

Pompey Takeover saga jaws to a close

A Shark’s Tale 29/8/12

There are 94 species of sharks that dwell in the South China Sea.

We at Pompey have identified for marine biologists a ninety fifth, first spotted three years ago off England’s south coast but known to have originated in Hong Kong, namely the Horribilus Gittus, more commonly known as the loan shark or Balu Chainrai for short.

Yep, the portly Portpin proprietor is back on the Pompey takeover scene, days after withdrawing his bid in a spectacular “nobody loves me” hissy fit.

The news Portpin were “reluctantly” applying yet again to buy the club brought a collective groan in the PO postcode area worthy of a group orgy porn film ending.

All the excitement generated amongst Pompey fans by the Portpin withdrawal, shown by the bumper 18k crowd against Bournemouth and the loud blue army who witnessed the entertaining 2-2 draw at Colchester, melted away like Michael Jackson’s nose a week ago when Portpin announced their new bid.

The fact that the fans’ very own Pompey Trust’s revised bid was due in last Friday morning I’m sure had nothing to do with Portpin’s fresh bid delivered late last Wednesday night, thereby giving little time for a response from anybody else.

Chainrai claimed in justifying his government-style U-Turn that the admin outfit PKF, Portsmouth City Council and the Professional Footballers’ Association all wanted Portpin to reapply, a Pinocchio-style claim roundly denied by all the three parties mentioned.

His new bid doesn’t seem to differ from Portpin’s original one, barring the emphasis the player settlements would be honoured in full (£8.4m), Portpin also snidely highlighted the Trust’s £2m offer to the players as “problematic”.

Portpin’s proposed CVA is due to run for 4 years, with the players being paid up in full over that period (4 x £2.1m). The Sky parachute payments end after two years so I am not quite sure how the club will be able to afford to pay the player settlements after that. Why doesn’t Portpin propose to pay the players the £8.4m out of the parachute payments in two years?

The Portpin four-year plan theoretically means Portpin putting money in, an alien concept I should think to the British Virgin Islands-based outfit, whose sole purpose, as stated often recently by Chainrai himself, is to get their money back.

The Trust’s bid says the players will get their £2m in next two years.

Unsurprised and undaunted by the Portpin late entry, the Trust put in their revised bid on Friday, the culmination of many months’ hard work, a bid backed by the fans, local MP’s, ex-players and the city council.

So it’s now a straight fight for ownership of Portsmouth Football Club between the Trust and Portpin, a whole community versus a remorseless money-making machine.

Trevor Birch of PKF has said his firm will look at both bids and decide which is best for all concerned, the club itself and the creditors. It’s a balancing act akin to King Solomon thinking about his pearls of wisdom while using a razor blade as a pubic hair nit comb.

The day after Portpin’s new bid there came new that there was a new third party interested in buying Pompey, a Mr Laurence Bassini. Watford fans were immediately all over the social media network like window-licking Jennifer Lopez stalkers warning Pompey fans about him, namely he had changed his name after being declared bankrupt, that he had sold the club to the Italian Pozzo family, lumbering them with huge debt that still has to be paid off.

Tales flowed of sacked staff, frozen bank accounts, our old friend Andrew Andronikou from our ex-admin crew UHY involved in the sale, all the familiar hallmarks of Pompey owners in recent years to be honest. I did check to see if he had changed his name from Azougy, Jacob, Gaydamak, Yossifoff, Al Faraj, Al Fahim etc but he was known as Lawrence Bazini previously.

The Pompey Trust acknowledged his interest and politely suggested that Bassini should submit a bid in his own right. In other words - go and do one.

If Portpin did succeed there would be the question of our beloved manager Michael Appleton, who was a tad miffed to say the least at Portpin’s late reduction in the player budget. Appy said Portpin had been “slightly unprofessional” in this matter, a massive understatement like saying Medusa often had a bad hair day.

Appleton said he would be happy to sit down with Portpin (who had slagged off Appleton in their hissy fit) if they took over and discuss what their plans were and, if he and Portpin were on the same wavelength, then he could foresee no problems but, if they weren’t, he would deal with that if that was the case.

As Appy is one of the club’s biggest assets at present, Portpin would be idiotic not to keep Appleton happy but there again, Portpin were the ones who lent money on three occasions to a non-existent Saudi so don’t be surprised if MA were to leave if Portpin took over.

Always wondered why Chainrai has never chased the actual bloke he supposed to have lent money to. £18m is not exactly loose change is it? Perhaps Balu is doing so as we speak, putting a whole new slant on the phrase “chasing his own tail”.

Talking of going round in circles I see Mr Chainrai has stepped in and saved the Liverpool Ferris Wheel from going out of business. Chainrai is no stranger to investing in the Ferris wheel industry in Asia and the Middle East and no doubt there will be a debenture issued to the new company Wheel Operations Ltd taking it over.

No doubt Cilla Black, Jimmy Tarbuck, Ken Dodd and Liverpool City Council all begged him to bid for it too.

We just think as a club – without being disrespectful to Rochdale – we are bigger and hopefully have better players, so are just right for him.

It won't be longer than a month....all were signed on non-contract terms. In separate news Appleton gets the begging bowl out again to sign yet more players.....quite unbelievable...his refusal to put youngsters on the bench seems to go without comment from the League. Just so he can say he needs new players to be "competitive". They really are a cluster of a club and the Trust have not made any details of their "revised" bid public. Bet those that have pledged at least 1K are happy that they don't know what the hell is going on.

Wouldn't it be ironic if it turned out that Antoniov was completely innocent?

It suddenly dawned on me that, that would be the funniest outcome of all of this

And I am having dinner & then off out clubbing with Nicole Scherzinger tonight down on Palm Island (she wants some proper X Fackther rated entertainment apparently) while Ne-Yo performs at Eric's private Real Ale festival at EoA Mansions with the Guest List composed of Miss Emirates Airline Hostess of the year Finalists in Swimsuits.

Think this is far more likely than your scenario ;)

Have to say though that Gemmel has got be thinking, I mean I wonder IF brown envelopes might be used

Well, it's 11:15pm and strangely she hasn't turned up to collect me.

Perhaps I need to go back to packing for visit to FMDP's parents to sort the wedding out next year.

Will make horrid typos from my HTC over the next couple of weeks but Keep up the fight in my absence fellow nutjobs!

Appy still doesn't get it. And Neil arrears to have forgotten about the transfer embargo.

That said, a fair proportion of those leaving comments do seem to get it.

With a 20-man squad deemed competitive by the Football League, Pompey’s boss is reluctant to blood any more of his promising youngsters into the first-team set-up.At present, only Webster and Ashley Harris have represented his team in League One this season.

Appleton knows by promoting more of the former Academy players, it will count against him in that 20-man tally.

Pathetic. How do they continue to get away with it?

That's no longer fair.

Wigan have a very small fanbase, can't compete in their own county, and are destined to forever live in the shadow of their neighbours - but the similarity ends there.

They have a talented manager, an understanding of their level, a good relationship with local charities, and they pay their wagebill.

There's a better comparison out there now.

Got to a cup final, dropped from Prem to 3rd tier, went bankrupt, dissolved, weren't missed - quietly reformed in some distant football backwater by a handful of supporters.

Gretna of the South.

Neil Allen really is an odious turd on twitter isn't he ?!?! He seems to have some "better than you attitude" and thinks any "scummer" knows nothing.....in fact, he should probably ease up in the use of the word "scummer" whilst representing his paper. If thy won't use th eword in the paper then he shouldnt be using it whilst representing them on twitter.

Still, I guess the good news is that he will probably be out of a job when it goes to a weekly publication.

I mean, it's only fair that they should be able to outbid a small but well-run club on the up, isnt it, in the interests of being 'competitive?

DCFSBs.

Meanwhile, Russell has spent the summer trialling with Stevenage and was offered a deal. But he has been holding out for a Pompey move having long been a target of Appleton.

Two more players coming in:

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/pompey-set-to-complete-double-swoop-1-4208618

Personally, I've numbed to this kind of news. Rules of this particular game changed some while back, so their little forays into the lower leagues market can no longer fill me with outrage. As long as they operate within their budget, I'd be interested in seeing what Appy can assemble on a monthly basis...

Shame that those youth players their future hinges on is once again being used in a unscrupulous attempt to improve a begging situation. It's really no better than beggars hiding their legs and pretending to be crippled to evoke more sympathy and more money. And this time round I fail to see the purpose - if Appy indeed does work under a budget from Birch then it shouldn't matter what the FL has to say? I mean, either he can afford a given player under Birch's budget, or he can't...

so this fantastic manager is saving old carthorses from glue and dogfood factories and refusing to play the youth, just so he can pile more conference-rejects on the heap?

And their one shining beacon of hope for the future, the boy Magri, is currently signing for QPR because he can't get a game at the Fatpipe Arena.

I'm not sure that Appy has ANY sort of plan. :scared:

By comparison, Cotterill and Lampitt are starting to look as legendary as serial relegation specialist Uncle Avram - all the heroes together.

For more laughs they need to let the Trust take control with Chinny pulling the strings via his debt, and they must retain Appy - it would be a Nutjob win-win!
