"relive pompey's open top bus parade".

They really have become the football club that parody's this very thread!

It's genuinely pathetic. They really do think they've got a history, don't they? Next they'll be crowdfunding a glorious museum so people from every corner of the world can revel in this illustrious mammoth of a football club.

If it was me it would be the last thing I would want to go to - a reminder of why and how the club had fallen so far.

On reflection maybe we should all go :)

Pompey fans view on Le Tissier below, from their forum....(brace yourselves)

f Le Conc had joined Pompey like he could have, he would have got used to proper atmospheric crowds, and playing like a bloke in front of real fans. He probably would be a much more rounded individual and won more caps.

Instead he played for Scumpton in front of tiny crowds who thought he was the best thing they had ever seen (and still do)

As Pompey have had a lot more history, he would have been just another good player, but at Scumpton be became Le God because of their near total lack of success, and their fans ridiculous love of him meant that he felt he could never go anywhere else and be loved the same. This is where his lack of confidence comes from.

That is why he had so much reticence for leaving the club, and why he couldn't play well for England. He effectively needed to have an arm around him playing for another club ie Chelsea / England, and didn't get it.

They wouldn't have fitted the team around him either beacuse they had other players who could win games single handedly.

Scumpton effectively killed his England career by treating him like an all conquering hero, even though all he ever did was save them from promotion a few times with his underachieving team mates.

I wonder why he would do that, particularly as we were always in the top league in his time :)

If only we had real heroes like N****o Kanu and Sol Campbell ? (btw did they ever get the monies the sued them for ?)

They cheered Le Tiss to the rafters when he played at the Tumbledown Temple for Alan Knight's testimonial.

If I recall, they even praised him and saw the funny side for his cheeky humour in revealing his Saints shirt.

Perhaps their delusion comes from the fact he wore a p****y shirt that day.

I thought that at first, but the last couple of paragraphs, coupled with other posts on the thread from the same guy, lead me to conclude sadly not. There's plenty of others on there with similarly bitter delusional views, but that one in particular stood out

 So in the 3 year period Le Tiss made his England appearances, and while playing in the top flight in front of "tiny crowds" he could have been turning out for plucky little p*mpey at the fr*tton cauldron. Hang on, over those 3 years their average home attendance was (I'm sure it must be a mistake) 8,200, 9,400 and 8,800. Massive

In the second tier. Where they were for the 14 years from 1988. Can't imagine why Le Tiss didn't want to...

To be fair to the inbred that posted that statement, he did say MLT 'could have' joined them.

In the same way that Maradonna 'could have' been their manager in the prem and they 'could have' drained all the water from Portsmouth Harbour to make the bestest potty stadium in the world or that Riquelme 'could have' joined them when they were in the prem.

On the sceptic isle, starting a sentence with 'could have' [or the much greater spotted 'could of'], makes things far more believable for the simpletons and becomes the basis upon which 'facts' are created.

So to sum up, Le Tissier was a useless and lonely individual who craved affection and couldn't trap a bag of cement - but had be played in front of their toothless cross-eyed crowds of 8,000 they could have turned him into a decent player?...

And why are we having this debate?

Have they run out of stuff to talk about down there?

Just seen Paul Cook driving into Port Solent and then parking near David Lloyd holding his mobile to his ear. Are there any rules they won't break?

For those that care, he drives a 65 plate black BMW (5 series I think) M sport.

At the end they also chucked concrete bits of Krap over the wall into the visitor's enclosure and we were kept in for at least half an hour.. Mind you, as the police liaison officer said "Haven't seen some of these lads for years and years...".

Hardly a debate, more sort of pointing and laughing. Again.

Tbh it's just another skate showing off the massive chip on his shoulder. I'm willing to bet he's the type that begins frothing at the mouth at the mere mention of the bigger club up the better end of the M27.

As I said before, the whole statement is very childish.

Just think there is a reasonable chance of Saints, AFCB and Brighton all playing in the Prem and Eastleigh joining Pompey in Division 4 (aka L2) next season

Wonder what are the odds of that happening and, if it did, what would be the scale of meltdown with our historical/hysterical rivals if Eastleigh ended up in a higher position in Div 4?

If BHA come up and the blue few stay down the absolute fury from down the road will be epic.

You won't be able to move for newspaper articles/football focus/SSN/etc features about "the rise of south coast football" and not mentioning them.

Of course, they'll be happy in their little world of "real football" and won't be jealous at all no way, no sir.

What a thing of beauty that would be, especially if Eastleigh got into League Two and the skates failed in the playoffs

Dear lord the inferiority complex of your average skate would be in over drive for the entire season, they'd be twitching more than redknapp at the mere mention of it.

the likes of scum think they're this big club, so when a near relegated team wins the league, it puts the whole systems nose out of joint and shows up clubs who have done nothing season after season despite the bigger budget or better academy etc.

And on POL, on a thread about half and half scarves, this image cropped up...

There won't be time for jealousy. They'll be far too busy planning the celebrations for the sixty-seventh anniversary of winning the First Division title on goal average.

You remember goal average? It was a number people used to be able to work out in the old days using long division before electric calculators were invented.

How interesting, in the corner of the skates grotto dedicated to Kippershed Utd is a book from Postsecret. For those that don't know, Postsecret is an ongoing art project dedicated to suicide prevention.......

How delightfully ironic

In the eyes of a Pompey fan, the Premiership is now riddled with "plastic fans" , lifeless stadiums, obscene money and huge debts. Only since their demise has this been the case though. Conveniently when they were in the Prem it was brilliant. They'd never want to go back to the Prem, no way. Not at all. Nasty Premier League. It's only pure coincidence that this theory happens to coincide with their football team clearly not being capable of ever returning to Premier League. Pure coincidence.

another cup final this Saturday, Plymouth at home , the team directly above them.

If they lose, 6th will probably be the best they can hope for.

and in other news, Pompey reject Ricky Holmes, not good enough for the Fratton star line up has been nominated for L2 player of the year.

Pompey fans showing yet again why they are the bestest role models in the whole wide world...

Trust chairman Ashley Brown added: ‘Thankfully we managed to get the win in the end on Saturday and no-one was hurt, but if this sort of behaviour continues the club will be subject to heavy fines or potentially even receive supporter or points related sanctions.

That would be a shame...

Points deduction? FL would only apply that when it benefitted the fishy few the most so not this season then.
