Arizona Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Never been a fan of GK as captains, Hammon would be my first choice. Even though er... I've never seen him play. :-s
Give it to Ron Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Has it been said that he will be changing the captin? KD will still officially be captain, but on the pitch on matchday there will be one closer to the action to help when players are starting to get involved in trouble etc. I agree with above it will be Hammond. Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 No other choice other than Hammond I would have thought.
Scudamore Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Kelvin Davis - Club Captain Dean Hammond - Team Captain Is how i see this one panning out... Pardew said on the forum that whilst he feels Davis is the best captain he's ever had in terms of taking things off his hands...he felt (and had spoken to KD about it) that he needed someone in the middle of the park who can communicate with the ref... iansums Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Jaidi perhaps? but I would go with Hammond. Very impressed with how AP dealt with this issue (at the forum) and especially his praise for KD.
LaptopSaint Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 The great thing is we have options. Murty, Jaidi, Perry, Hammond would all command instant respect. Given injuries and likely playing time throughout the season I agree Hammo is the most sensible choice. Good that we've moved on from playing the academy though! Minsk Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Hammond would be the obvious choice. Other contenders could be Murty, Jaidi and Lambert.
St Marco Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Hammond for sure. People *****ed about our team having lack of passion etc just watch this guy, he has been amazing for us.
NickG Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Critieria and preferences under each one in order; character - Hammond, Murty, Davis, Jaidi, Lambert position - Hammond, Jaidi, Murty, Lambert, Davis likely to play every game - Davis, Lambert, Hammond, Jaidi, Murty Hammond for me. S-Clarke Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Surley has to be hammond. has been captain at all his clubs (ok, only 2 - but colchester & brighton) and plays in a way that leads the team. only logical choice imo.

KK the 2nd Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Only seen Hammond in the last match and have to say I was impressed. So if this a question of who would be the best outfield captain then I could go along with that. However I am a big fan of Kelvin and Curbs talks highly of him as captain therefore I would stay with KD as captain.

What Pard's (i assume you ment him, rather than curbs ) elluded too in the forum is that he'd like a ''90mins'' captain, and would keep Kelvin as the club captain. He wanted someone closer to the game during matches, and in his words...''we needed someone to control wayne, when he threw someone to the ground again''

RedAndWhite91 Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Has to be Hammond. No argument.
the saint in winchester Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 We're all agreed. Murty and Hammond have captaincy experience, but Murty is likely to miss games with injury at this stage of his career. So Hammond would be the probable candidate. And I agreed with Pard's reasoning that we do need an outfield captain to negotiate with the ref.
Cabrone Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 1. Hammond 2. Jaidi 3. Lambert All come across as leaders.

Clifford Nelson Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Hammond is the obvious choice. Give him another couple of games to establish his authority in this squad.

S-Clarke Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 i think it's great that we can go through our team and have several options as outfield captains.....it's something we haven't had the luxury of in recent years. I wouldn't choose Jaidi though, i like captains to be in the midfield - whether you're attacking or defending, they'll always be involved.

Saints67 Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 So out of our squad we've got thee following who have been captains of our team/other teams - Davis Perry Jaidi Murty Hammond Thomas (think he was captain at Burnley but not 100% sure) Not a bad lot to choose one from? My guess is Hammond and not Thomas as he's the one the captain will be keeping in check!
Fowllyd Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 I think we're forgetting the influence of Dean Wilkins here. How could AP fail to be swayed as DW regales him with tales of his brother's elevation to the Chelsea captaincy at the tender age of 18? Surely AP will give youth a chance and appoint his on-field skipper accordingly. So, Schneiderlin it is then. For the hard of humour, this is a joke. OK, it's not a very good one. So sue me. Maybe the armband would stop him from wanting to fight everyone!!! In all seriousness though, I agree with most of the people above, Hammond leads by example. SamKimish Posted 23 September, 2009 Share Posted 23 September, 2009 Yes I know it's controversial giving the wristband to Hammond instantly but we have been lacking a midfield leader for a long time and he is proven in the role. I said when he came to the club that we should use him as our match captain!
