FIFA rule protects Lambert & Hammond from leaving

Scouts have been turning up in increasing numbers at St Marys according to todays Echo.

However, Lambert & Hammond are protected by a FIFA ruling that prevents footballers from playing for more than two clubs a season.

So anyone worried about these 2 players leaving in January don't need to.

Sweet !

Does it count loan clubs ?

Maybe we should lend Lallana to Bournemouth for a week.

Not concerned at all to be fair.

We are in the fantastic position of not needing to sell, and I'm sure the clubs ambition certainly meets Lambo and Deano's aspirations too.

Other can look all they like but unless its silly money ( which in todays climate it will not be), they would be wasting their time.

Thats not what I meant.

I meant if loan clubs counted, we should send Lallana out on a very short loan to stop him being pilfered.

I know what you meant. I thought with me saying Lambert & Hammond can be loaned out you'd guess that Lallana can be loaned out AND then still be sold.

How's you feeling?

I dont think they would

but would you not think that if Newcastle, Forest (with boo boy davies) or WBA came in for them, they would turn them down..?

I don't think that in the next transfer window they would. But in August, especially if we don't get promoted this season then the clubs you mentioned would be very tempting to our star players.

the clubs I mention will probably be in the premier league and will not go for league 1 players

Ah ha, the old sleight of hand trick eh!

We all look THAT way worrying about Lambert & Hammond and woosh

http://www.tribalfootball.com/fulham-boss-hodgson-targets-southampton-youngster-lallana-519901

Mind you, 1.5mil ROFL and all that

And Lallana' date=' 21, who came up through Southampton’s academy, is anxious to follow in the footsteps of Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott, who both moved to London from St Mary’s, rather than move further north.[/quote']

He's anxious to always be injured?

The only player I can see leaving against Pardew's wishes is Lallana, if he slaps in a transfer request and we get a decent offer from a bigger club, we should accept it and re-invest.

A player who wants to leave is no use to us.

Obviously there are some players who we will be practically kicking out the door come January though!

I'm surprised it doesn't say:

''cash-strapped saints will need to offload Lallana to raise much needed funds, and a fee of £1.5m should secure his services''

seeing as the tabloids have no idea that we are now ''rich.''

lol @ 1.5m though, easily at LEAST worth £6-7m if Delph went for 8m.

Good news on Lambo and Hammond. Stupid article on Lallana - he's worth more than £1.5m to Saints - price tag would be at least £3m I would think.

Interestingly, what nobody has mentioned yet in relation to the OP is whether the FIFA ruling might actually affect potential targets for AP in January. It could cut down the number of signings on his wish-list somewhat?

had no fears about Hammond and Lambert at all, but the question is can we hold on to Schneiderlin and Lallana? The fact both have been in tremendous form and yet we have not heard a dicky bird about new contracts for either suggests neither is interested in signing one.

In Lallana's case is it a case of only promotion will stop him leaving. He said he would see the season out, but after that?

If Morgan continues to play as he has done then the Championship beckons.

Fabian Delph went to Villa from leeds for £8m in the summer. He was a very good AMC at this level - if Lallana goes, surely he would be the same price range?

1.5m is just a laugh. (the article is prob a load of rehashed garbage though)

length of existing contract will be a factor.

nice.

It still surprises me to find people on here that don't see how much better he is compared to last season. In my opion its him, not Hammond that is running things in the middle.

I'm pretty sure I said lkast season numerous times that he was only 19 and he needed a lot more time to find his feet. He's now found them in my book. I dare say his rise has been helped by the drop in league, but he is right up there with Jardi and Lambert as our most important player and time for a new 5 year deal me thinks.

I could see our big players leaving in a years time if we aren't up near the top come January 2011 but certainly not worried about anyone leaving this season or in August. I'm more looking forward to us poaching other league 1 clubs decent players.

Firstly, it seems that a lot of people are looking at this possible situation wearing the doomsday hat that used to adorn all Saints fans from 1985 until July 2009. Understandable, to an extent, but still rather pessimistic given all the evidence to date.

Secondly, for the first time in decades, I am not in the slightest bit worried if a player does go - Lallana, Lambert (though I can't see it I'm afraid), Morgan - because at long, long last we have a Chairman and a Chief Exec who would ensure they are replaced with equal if not better quality. Their vision is not limited by finances or dependent upon one particular player, thankfully.

How would the echo know if scouts were in St Mary's?

I thought the Echo was banned from St Mary's anyway.

Doubt if it's just Lambert that they're looking at.We have players on loan from other clubs that the parent clubs might be wanting to sell, so where do scouts see them? yep where they're playing.

Scouts will probably be looking at Lambert, Lallana and Morgan just now.

All three will be considered by some scouting staff to be playing below their level.
