Nice touch from Cortese.

"We got up here just after half nine last night. It's been great fun, we've been playing football in the car park, the security guards have brought us all teas and coffees, they have been fantastic. We camped out all night in our sleeping bags just to be able to make sure that we got our tickets.

"We just want to say a big thank you to the Chairman, fair play to him he came out here and saw us all first thing at 6.30am, shook our hands and thanked us for being here and made sure that we were being looked after."

Probably not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but still a nice touch I thought. Would the previous chairman have done anything similar? He would probably have had them kicked off the car park for trespass;)

Just to annoy people and add a slight balance, Rupert Lowe did once talk to me as I was buying tickets and said he hoped I enjoyed the game etc.

He said "well done" to me outside the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on FA Cup Final day 2003 (after the game). I said "hello Rupert" to prompt the response. I think he was taken aback by the familiarity, but I couldn't really fault him at that exact point in time really, might have said something different post-2005.

Yeh, he initiated a brief chat with me once when I was queuing for tickets at SMS as well. All this Cortese = angel, Lowe = devil is a little monotonous to say the least!

Erm, honestly, I think Rupert might have. He might have had some wacky ideas, and he may have been smug and unlikeable, BUT he was actually quite a polite man, and I think in this situation he would jhave done similar.

Not taking anything away from NC, who I am so damn impressed with.

Ticket Office staff have been at work this morning from sevenish. They worked late last night with hardly a break all day. NC arranged for them all to be served lunch from Corporate and a buffet in the evening whilst they were still servicing the queues.

Wow! You don't get that sort of treatment at many football clubs.

What a nice gesture from Mr Cortese. It's these little things that make all the difference.

When Lowe was at Saints those taking the supporters bus to Pompey were charged to park at St Marys. It was only a quid but it was the principle and it said it all about how the club valued its supporters.

All I'd say is where was the coffee when we ST's were queuing for our single tickets last week. Get the picture?

Fairweather 'fans' welcome, old lag ST holders **** off. Remember how we couldn't get our own seats for the early cup rounds?

It's OK to woo potential new customers Nicola but don't forget the loyal band who've stood shoulder-to-shoulder at SMS during these past few years trying to prevent our beloved Saints from dropping into the abyss.

Perhaps the extra discount on ticket prices for cup matches might be the thankyou to Season Ticket Holders.

Perhaps the coffee at 6.30 in the morning was for the people who decided to queue from the early hours of the morning in the middle of winter which Season Ticket Holders didn't have to do.

I thought you were off to follow Arsenal anyway............ ;)

I would have demanded biscuits , and proper McVities Digestives too - not that cheap rubbish you get at Lidel's .

If you mean Lidl, you can get McVitie's Digestives there. But you pay less for them. As one notable supermarket chain always says...

Every Lidl helps..! ;)

I agree. It went badly wrong at the end but i think Lowe with time Lowe will be judged more fairly.

Biggest mistake was not appointing Hoddle in 2004.

People may yawn, but the Hoddle debate will continue for many years as we are able to assess the crisis years at the club. Without a doubt it started with the appoiintment of the inexperienced Sturrock.

Also, there was a minority of very vocal fans that played their part in this most ruinous of choices.

So Lowe was a weak chairman then?

Make your mind up.
