so22saint Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 they've assembled a pretty good side to be honest - makes our 0-1 home defeat not seem so bad. scarily if we win our game in hand we're 8 pts off the play-offs. I've said it before and I'll say it again - in League's 1 and 2, anybody can beat anybody on their day. Luck + a good defence are the 2 things you need to get out
S-Clarke Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Swindon are the best team we have played at St Mary's this season, so they are there by merit. they have done the double over Leeds, both 3-0 scorelines. They aren't ''crud''.

Badger Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Put simply, Swindon have a group of players who play as an effective team, rather than a collection of expensively assembled individuals.

S-Clarke Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 they have added to the squad fantastically. Johnathan Douglas, ex leeds, is arguably one of the best CM's in this league and the signing of the season on a free. I'd have him in our midfield any day of the week. Austin is the hottest prospect outside of the PL, the guy is prolific. Add to that - billy paynter, who's always scored goals and the pace they have down the flanks...they'll always cause problems. ART Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Well done to them and woe betide to all those who said how crap they were at the start of the season. They aren't ''crud''. I agree, they look a good side, it's more the way they look organised. I remember the game at their place at the start of the season and they played us off the park. They had a couple of cracking wingers that tore us to shreds.
derry Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Played neat passing football, used the whole pitch and kept the ball for long periods. I like the way they played. Kingsland Red Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 I thought Swindon were the best team we've played this season by some, a very controlled team, comfortable in possession and able to absorb pressure. Good luck to them.

You may be right about Leeds next season, and the loss of key players from the current squad. However a club of their stature will always be able to attract good players for the division we are in. beatlesaint Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Leeds fans will be gutted haha So should we be, the League will be easier to get out of next season if they go up this year. Teams like Huddersifeld, Swindon and Millwall are, like us i suspect, prone to a great season preceeded or followed by an average one. I would rather Leeds get out the way asap ! You would still expect them to be stronger than Swindon. When teams like that over perform you usually see the manager leave or players sold or both. Micky Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Time, for some, to start giving teams and managers the respect they deserve - Swindon are where they are on merit. Just goes to show though - next season, will not be the 'walk in the park' that some people think that it will be... intersting times ahead. Fan The Flames Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 After the arrogance of the Leeds fans at SM, I'm enjoying them dropping like a stone. stevegrant Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Never really been a great fan of Danny Wilson but he's done a great job there and they - like Millwall - are hitting top form at just the right time. I don't know who you think this star player is, but I hope you're not talking about McNamee? I know a lot of Swindon fans who were glad to be rid, he's very over-rated and not rated that highly by the Town fans. Oh, and they are a decent side, and in 2nd on merit. Singeon Sears Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 For me Norwich were the best team i've seen against us (even though they didn't beat us once) - they looked a very good side at St Mary's. Swindon were the next best. So I am not surprised at all with the top of the league. Whether Swindon can stay there is a different matter, now the pressure in on them to keep it. In the same way it is for whoever is in 6th place each week till the end of the season.
