Swindon 2nd....SWINDON.!!!!!

they've assembled a pretty good side to be honest - makes our 0-1 home defeat not seem so bad.

scarily if we win our game in hand we're 8 pts off the play-offs.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - in League's 1 and 2, anybody can beat anybody on their day. Luck + a good defence are the 2 things you need to get out

Swindon are the best team we have played at St Mary's this season, so they are there by merit.

they have done the double over Leeds, both 3-0 scorelines.

They aren't ''crud''.

how long has danny wilson been there..didnt they lose their best player in the summer..how much money has he had to replace said best player..?

danny wilson...ffs, I wonder what we would have thought if he was appointed ahead of pardew..?

just goes to show how much better we should be IMO

they have added to the squad fantastically.

Johnathan Douglas, ex leeds, is arguably one of the best CM's in this league and the signing of the season on a free. I'd have him in our midfield any day of the week.

Austin is the hottest prospect outside of the PL, the guy is prolific. Add to that - billy paynter, who's always scored goals and the pace they have down the flanks...they'll always cause problems.

not lambert/lallana/morgan now then..?

they were 15th last season...lost their start player and spent near enough nothing and are 2nd with a manager we would have laughed at who has been there 5 mins...

dear god..

Time will tell. The same was no doubt once said of Tony Funnell in Saints promotion season (likened to Gerd Muller at one stage,I kid you not) and Trevor Senior at Reading.

j/QUOTE]

When you can take Barnsley to the Premier League I guess you know what you're doing most of the time.

Except for his distinctly average time at Sheffield Wednesday, and his time as the nearly man at Bristol City, and wilderness year or so at Hartlepool.

No,on balance I'd take Pardew.

I wouldn't . I'm not really convinced he knows what he's doing at this level.

He'll be OK in the Championship but I think League 1 football goes under his radar a bit sometimes.

For League 1 I'd take Wilson or Jackett over Pardew any time...but now that he's here I guess he'd better get on with it.

Didnt Pardew get Reading promoted from League 1? Stop being so petty. Some of you lot can be such jealous babies!

Well done to them and woe betide to all those who said how crap they were at the start of the season. Pardieu said that it's Leeds who's fall away, and Leeds it is. Just hope enough to allow us Saints to slip into those play off places.

I agree, they look a good side, it's more the way they look organised. I remember the game at their place at the start of the season and they played us off the park. They had a couple of cracking wingers that tore us to shreds.

My recollection as well.

(By the way, your reply was to Window Cleaner and the comments in the quote were his rather mine!)

Leeds will fall away badly next season.

5 of their team are loans and Beckford and Snodgrass are leaving.

You may be right about Leeds next season, and the loss of key players from the current squad. However a club of their stature will always be able to attract good players for the division we are in.

Leeds fans will be gutted haha

So should we be, the League will be easier to get out of next season if they go up this year.

Teams like Huddersifeld, Swindon and Millwall are, like us i suspect, prone to a great season preceeded or followed by an average one.

I would rather Leeds get out the way asap !

You would still expect them to be stronger than Swindon. When teams like that over perform you usually see the manager leave or players sold or both.

Time, for some, to start giving teams and managers the respect they deserve - Swindon are where they are on merit.

Just goes to show though - next season, will not be the 'walk in the park' that some people think that it will be... intersting times ahead.

goes to show that those who think we will "walk this league" next season are a bit ahead of themselves..

but SWINDON..!!! ffs

I'm not surprised at all. Went to both games and they were very good in each. Just shows that having the right players who are willing to put 100% in week in week out gets results. Well done to them

I hope they stay in this league. We should try and get Snodgrass or Kisnorbo or both

Orient's manager has just been sacked. I can't start a new thread/build up thread or anything but I thought I would put it out there.

Could see a reaction from them Monday night.

lol typical.

i've lost count the amount of times that's happened to us.

at least they don't have the chance to replace him though.

just listening to the radio and they were talking about swindon..

they (apparently) have the smallest squad, smallest budget from those at the top

also, they had just sold their star player..

well, what a job wilson is doing i guess

Their budget isn't that bad, they are now owned by a very rich man. I don't know who you think this star player is, but I hope you're not talking about McNamee? I know a lot of Swindon fans who were glad to be rid, he's very over-rated and not rated that highly by the Town fans.

Oh, and they are a decent side, and in 2nd on merit. No wonder other teams fans think some Saints fans are up their own arse, especially after seeing this thread.

simon cox was sold..he was their ricky lambert..(joint top scorer last year i think) and have a small budget and squad compared to anyone else at the top...with a manager who has been there about the same amount of time as pardew has been at saints

fair play to them..if only we were that good

For me Norwich were the best team i've seen against us (even though they didn't beat us once) - they looked a very good side at St Mary's.

Swindon were the next best.

So I am not surprised at all with the top of the league. Whether Swindon can stay there is a different matter, now the pressure in on them to keep it.

In the same way it is for whoever is in 6th place each week till the end of the season.

If we fail to make the playoffs as seems likely the

whining and toy throwing will be unreal but

if we don`t win every game next season, the pardew haters

will wear their typing fingers out posting their vitriol...:smt024

A mass internet suicide....

I personally prefer being in League 1 as I go more often do not pay high prices for tickets find the pub uncrowded and the traffic not too bad.

Plus see a few goals and usually a Saints win
