Well the season is done and dusted (well unless you're a real big optimist). So as the dust starts to settle who's your player of the season? Compared to last year it's an embarrasment of richs this season and quite a hard desicion.

However after much consideration I'm plumping for .............

Dan Harding

I don't think I've seen him have a bad game solid performance week after week. Fantastic performance in the cup final playing out of postion, winning goal against Leeds and all for free (bargain). So who's your player of the season?

Got to be Lambert. Not just for the goals, but his all round game has been top drawer. Think he's got 21 assists as well this season - that's around 55 goals this season down to him.

Agreed but Harding, Schneiderlin, Lallana and Hammond run him pretty close. If Fonte had been here all season he would have won it IMO.

Harding??????? FFS Ricky lambert. This thread will be full of random players that various posters will throw out there to look intelligent, much like idiot tabloid football journalists throw out crap opinions each week. lets just al say ricky and be done with it. Oh and if anyone says

Kelvin the clown Baj will shoot you

1. Rickie Lambert

2. Dan Harding

3. Adam Lallana

Lambert because his impact has been massive. He scores at crucial times, sets up countless goals for others and his all round play has been first-class. He's got a chance to make himself a true legend at Saints, lets hope he is here to take us to the Premier League!

Harding's in with a shout too as he's been a top draw signing by Pards. A very shrewd acquistion, especially on a free transfer, and he's arguably been our most consistent performer throughout the campaign. I can only think of 2 games where DH has been below-par, a great achievement IMO.

As for Lallana, he's come on leaps and bounds this season, proving that he CAN cut it in this division despite some critics early on and I think he's shown enough to suggest that he could make the grade at a higher level, if not the highest. AL has also popped up with numerous goals over the course of the season, and to score 19 from midfield is a great feat.

Adam has improved so much this year, not sure if thats down to Adam, AP or just playing in a better team than last year (maybe all three) hope he stays.

I think a lot of it was down to confidence. The sh!t that was happening on and off the pitch last season must have had an effect on all of our young players.

1. Lambert - My first hero in a Saints shirt!

2. Lallana - Lived up to the hype mostly this year

3. Harding - Best free signing ever, I dont remember seeing him have a bad game..?

Would have had Morgan 3rd but he has been hit and miss.

Last year I thought Morgan was really powder puff with the physical side of his game. This year he has really upped that side of his game. Maybe a little two much what with his two red cards and having the most yellows in the team. Still the most technical player in our team IMO.

Over the course of the season, you couldn't really ask for any more from RL, DH or AL. Practically a dead heat between the first two IMO as they have bith been fantastically consistent. Harding just edges it for me. He looked average against Oldham and that was easily the worst I've seen him play.

We'll have a proper poll after the Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafend game.

Paul Wotton for me....

In fairness to Wotton while he lacks practically any footballing skill he has always given his all for the team everytime he has played. You could say the same for a lot of this years fringe players Perry, Murty, Connolly, Thomas and Mills they've all looked committed when they've been called upon such a difference to lasts years team.

Lambert for me, with a smattering of Schneiderlin, Lallana, Harding after him.

I really am surprised that some people don't recognise how important Schneiderlin is to our system. The ability to spray 40 yard balls to the wings when the midfield is packed is a massive plus, especially when playing 4-5-1. If we lost him, well, see how Liverpool have done without Xabi Alonso. He did the same job there.

Your top 3 would be more interesting.

Lambert

Harding

Lallana

........and I really want to include Morgan and Fonte!

Spot on you have to give it to Lambo he has been immense Harding Lallana have also been great with Morgan & Fonte just behind.

Just 2 or 3 signings at Right Back and Centre Midfield hang onto the 1st team players and we will have a fantastic team next season cant wait.

1. Lambert

2. Harding

3. Morgan

Lallana would be in my top 3 if his finishing were more consistent as i believe this has cost us key points at places like Wycombe but it is hard to be tough on a youngster who gets as many goals as he does - but he really is good enough to be scoring 25+ a season like Matty did.

Honourable mentions for Davis, Fonte and Barnard and also for impact both Waigo and Antonio deserve a mention.

Maybe I will get slated,

Lambo

Davis (come on, how many times has he kept us in the game)

Lallana

Couldn't agree more about Davis. There is a reason he was player of the season last year and it wasn't just because we were rubbish. He's class. Would have Harding third though.

I think Davis has played well in the last few months but I thought he started the season poorly TBH and though Bart should have kept his place mid-season.

Lambert is clearly player of the season

Special mention goes to Lallana & Schneiderlin though, because 12 months ago fans were seriously slagging them both off (especially their attitudes), but they have had brilliant seasons & now look the part

Let's hope we can keep all 3 of them in the summer + Pards

I agree that Harding and Lambert would be worthy winners as well as possibly Lallana but what about Morgan without him we do not seem to perform very well

I think thats an indication of how good this team is becoming that you could suggest half a dozen players this season for player of the season with some justification. This time last year I'd of struggled after naming Kelvin. If we keep this team together next season It could be really hard with Barnard,Fonte, Puncheon and Antonio all being in the mix.

Has to be Lambert for his all round play not just the goals, his presence on the pitch is huge for us these days, he lifts the team AND the fans

2. Harding, he has been excellent all season, what a free he has been, best ever free maybe.

3. Lallana for his workrate, assists and his goals, best season by far, last year screwed him up royally.

Next season if Fonte plays a full season then it will be interesting

Lambert for me, but when it comes down to the actual voting I'll vote for Harding.

Why?

Tactical voting, Lambert will win by a country mile (so I'll let others vote for him), but I think Harding should get a close second, I don't remember him having a bad game, even when played at RB.

Third & forth IMHO are Jiadi & Kelvin, although I which order I'm not sure. As for Lallana, he's certainly come of age this year, but, he's plenty of years in front of him to pick up one of these things.

As others have alluded too, it's been a great year & seems a real shame that only one player can win this. In previous years any of the above would have won on this seasons performances.

Special mentions for: Antonio, Papa, Kelvin, Morgan and of course Wayne Thomas.

yep...kelvin has probably had the least to do since he can remember this season...

but when he has, harldy put a foot wrong..

deffo wont be here long enough to be a legend but he will be a great in my eyes
