Lump in throat moments

Camara's winner against Norwich.

Such a mix of relief, joy and hope..... such incredible hope that we could and just might make it out of the hole we were in. I was on the verge of tears of joy.

Alas no.

Being 4-0 up at Wembley after an hour. It still doesn't seem possible to me yet it was, couldn't care less that it was only the JPT, after the last 5 years, after all that crap, and then balanced with all the activity and improvement this year, THAT was the moment when it sunk in. Yes, I can now be proud of my club again.

higginbotham scoring the last minute equaliser at Palace to keep us going for another week and the whole of the day at Wembley and yet another one, the day and as a whole with all the different emotions when we lost at Pride Park in the play offs heartbreak in the end but the comeback and Rasiak goal to take it to extra time was special!

The ovation that greeted Big Ron when he returned to The Dell and ran to the centre circle even though he was captaining Pompey at the time. The Pompey players held back and he ran out on his own to a really heartfelt welcome.

Similarly,Terry Paine's return with Hereford United.

Clapping and signing for the last 20 mins of the first win at SM against Charlton. Everyones arms must have ached to **** but the adrenalin kept everyone going, it was as though we were told if we stopped Charlton would score. We were definitely the 12th man and the will of the fans that day was something to behold.

After the rape allegations, cannot remember year, Mark Wright and Steve Moran held in Sweden, Lawrie Mac led the team on to the pitch to play Notts County and the crowd just went mad in their support that afternoon.

Also after last league game at The Dell but not until i was driving home and realised that was it for competitive football at The Dell

Was just going to mention that Notts County game in 1982-83 - about as bad as it got in the early 80's. Two players in jail, out of Europe, bottom of the division after some really bad results including a 0-6 at Spurs. Woodward and McMenemy led the team out. Fantastic support all through

Also - seeing the camera cut to Ted Bates and Bill Ellerington on the bench at Wembley after Bobby scored.

A personal one - at West Ham in the runners-up season. One of their players has a shot - craning forward to see it - seemingly inevitably - hit the back of our net - only to see Nick Holmes chest it down and clear. God I loved that man...

Did Luthor Blissett make you cry W.S?

Was that a weird thread or what...??? Went right over me.....

Gotta say - I never cried though - after all he could still be alive, not have a gay brother and be in gainful employment somewhere.

Man I was (am) confused...!

Undeniably " Abide with Me" in Cardiff, 2003. I was not only proud of Saints, I was proud of Saints fans.

Missing out on signing on Jack Rodwell.[/QUOTe]

Sorry what did you say? too busy looking at your avatar!

when Rasiak scored that goal in the last minute of the play off semi final against Derby, not only coming back to haunt his old club but making a complete mockery of Burley's team selection.

One touch, BANG - far corner, keeper no chance

The pub I was in just exploded with noise

Forest away 09/10. With things being about as bad as they could get over 3,000 Saints fans made the city ground rock, leaving me with the biggest goosebumps I have ever had appear a right lump in my throat as I had never been so proud to be a Saint.

Yep one of the best weekends of my life. Immense support.

The play off game at Derby, going from tears of joy as Rasiak scored to tears of sadness as we lost the penalties. Slumped back in my seat with the feeling that the club was going to go downhill from there which unfortunately happened.

Crouch vs the skates, Pahars vs the skates.

Camara against Norwich, felt emotionally drained after that game, still remains my favourite game I've been to at SMS.

When Danny Wallace bought the match ball out before the Bolton game in the 03/04 season. Don't think anyone knew he was going to do so and it was sad to see him struggling like he did.

The final whistle at Villa Park in the 03 semi final and then during abide with me at the subsequent final.

Watching Kelvin and Deano lift the JPT at wembley.

3 key moments for me that almost had me in tears:

* FA cup final 2003. Was so proud of the boys and all the Saints fans stayed right until the end. We were clear underdogs, but still.

* Relegation from the Premiership 2005 - on the drive back to Reading, my old man and I didn't say a word to each other. Absolutely the most gutting moment as a Saints fan.

* Marians last game. If this didn't choke you up, you ain't a Saints fan. I love that little Latvian.

Ive only come close too tears once, Sheffield United last game 07/08. I didnt want to go to the game that day, couldnt bare to see us go down again, the old man dragged me through the door though and it was well worth it. When the Kingsland did that motif' thats when it really sank in, and I had to hold it all in.

God im a wetty.

During the Norwich JPT game, I dropped my uneaten hotdog on the floor of the Kingsland. Was a bit upset, they're not cheap, and I was hungry.

Being a Saints fan is all about ups and downs, highs and lows. We cry for the sad things as much as we cry at the good. This is something Man Utd fans and other glory supporting fans will never understand.

Got a bit of a lump in the throat around the time Markus took over and they played that video of Saints history on the screens. It really drove it home how much passion there is for the club, what a massive gesture Markus made in rescuing the club from oblivion and what a debt of gratitude we owe NC for putting Saints on Markus' radar.

travelling up to leeds with you and that guy behind us saying the game was off!

I don't remember believing that. :D My memories from that day are:

-Freezing my tits off

-Meeting the Leicester fans at Leicester Forrest Service station. Their game had just been frozen off (Cardiff away I think). Seemed odd that they would be there.

- Having a free seat next to me because someone didn't show up

- Listening to Liverpool collapse and lose at Pompey on 5Live

- Loads of snow in Leeds

- My uncle lending you a hat

- Waigo and James being appaling.

- A great goal from Snodgrass.

- Harding putting a howitzer JUST wide with the last kick of the game.

- That fat bastard Leeds fan falling on his arse on a patch of ice and looking up to see 3 bus loads of Saints fans giving him the Vs.

- You and Matey Boy singing "we're the dark side over 'ere" when my spotlight got stuck on and I couldn't get to sleep on the bus.

After reading the thread on Pahars it reminded me of how his farewell lap at SMS and the fans reaction to him made me shed a tear, how many other saints moments have made people feel like that?

I felt nothing other than good, been carrying that sick note for to long now, glad his contract was up.

You are a brave man. But, I'm with you on this one!! Never a consistent performer, no idea why he gets looked on so fondly (he had some spectacular moments obviously, they were just very sparse...)
