Secret Site Agent Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 It has happened against us..................Do you think it will happen for us? I refer to the fact that whenever a manager takes over a team we are about to play, they play their socks off and beat us. Are we going to do the same? What do YOU think? I refer to the fact that whenever a manager takes over a team we are about to play, they play their socks off and beat us. Are we going to do the same? What do YOU think? I always believe that new manager syndrome only ever worked against Saints. I predict a draw at MK and a win on Saturday

Liquidshokk Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 So how will people feel if we lose on Wednesday? Will they just shrug it off like I kinda did on Saturday?? (I'd given up letting it get me down after the previous two results.....)

(I'd given up letting it get me down after the previous two results.....) the same we always do. Come on here and slit our wrists, call for Nigel to be sacked and claim we're only good for relegation. If we win however we will all claim auto promotion is certian, Nigel is the greatest manager in the universe and we have team all the other teams in league one (and the championship) would kill for. Danny R Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 No chance, this is Saints, when do we ever follow the norm. I think we will play really well but lose. Probably to another dodgy refereeing decision.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 Personally I feel that the fact we're playing MK Dons means it's a bit of a waste of the 'new manager syndrome', as we always beat them anyway!

Arizona Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 Sturrock won 3 of his first 4 games in charge, but went and lost against Pompey. Pearson came in and made us difficult to beat pretty much instantly, despite a collapse at Hull. Wotte went on a mini-streak of good form when he took over in Jan '09, although that may have had more to do with Saganowski scoring.

SW5 SAINT Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 Apart from Sturrock, struggling to think of another Saints manager winning his first match in charge going back nearly 40 years to when McMenemy took charge(and I'm pretty sure he didn't win his first, I'm sure we were about 5th when he took over in December 1973 and ended up relegated)
Ian the Red Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 Think Nicholl won his first game in charge... So it's about time we had a new manager winning his first match; 3-1 to Saints tomorrow!
Saint Stimp Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 If we win the next couple of games it wont be new manager syndrome. It will be because they are both games that we should be winning.
dubai_phil Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 Totally do not expect NA to win his first game in charge..... Unless...... If there really was some "unease" in the team due to "outside alleged influences" affecting motivation In which case I think we could just Murder them, after all New Manager Syndrome and we are their Bogey Team.... Yeah right win for MK then

Professor Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Scunny won 4-0 in the end. So maybe looks like 'No Manager Syndrome' - which Saints didn't have while Wilkins was covering the gap. After a 2-0 home defeat by Bristol City in Adkins last game in charge at Scunny, either you try to read something into that, such as their first team coach is a genius, or more likely you just have to accept that football is a funny old game. Scvnthorpe do have a caretaker manager though - Ian Baraclough Step forward all those who blamed our poor recent results on Cortese giving Pardew the chop? At the end of the day, it all depends on how professionally the players handle change. Scvnthorpe players coped better with losing their manager than our players did. "Simple as that" or Ian Baraclough was the brains behind the operation at scunny were as clearly Wilkins wasn't for us. Maybe the scunny players were glad to see the back of Adkins and the saints players weren't happy to see the back of AP. Someone could dress this situation up in lots of ways to suit their agenda. I can't see the link myself.
