Master Bates Posted 15 December, 2010 Share Posted 15 December, 2010 (edited) Heavy snow to hit West Midlands tomorrow and Friday. "As this front sweeps south, it'll open the doors to an Arctic blast of winds and heavy snow showers. "Snow will mainly affect coastal and northern parts initially, but are increasingly likely to affect northern and western areas late Thursday and into Friday. Some 10cm-20cm are possible, up to eight inches." The Met Office has said there is a 60% risk of heavy snow during Thursday for areas including north west England, Northern Ireland, Wales, southwest Scotland, southwest England and the West Midlands. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20101215/tuk-weather-warnings-as-snow-to-return-t-45dbed5.html Edited 17 December, 2010 by Saint_clark

alehouseboys Posted 15 December, 2010 Share Posted 15 December, 2010 That's 3 games oop country rearranged for long midweek treks...and likely to still be subject to weather in Jan/Feb. It's never easy following Saints.

InvictaSaint Posted 15 December, 2010 Share Posted 15 December, 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/2?area=Walsall Heavy snow forecast for Saturday according to the beeb... But if you click on the detail, it shows no snow for morning or evening and states "heavy snow for a time". I think it will be fine for the game to go ahead. dannysfc Posted 15 December, 2010 Share Posted 15 December, 2010 I will be at the Walsall game on Saturday and looking at the latest weather forecast I saw that it looks like there might be a lot of Snow etc and I would like these questions answered please: 1). Is the game likely to go ahead or will it get called off? 2). Does Walsall have undersoil heating or what? 3). What is the closest Pub to the ground for away fans as well? Would be Good to know like I along with the people who are also going to the game on here in advance as I am getting the Train to the game which may be fun getting back depending on the weather ! John Boy Saint Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 If it ain't snow a frozen pitch will probably scupper us, bit of shame if it does succumb to the weather. If it does survive they will be doing a roaring trade in Bovril!

hamster Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 If anyone needs their football fix this weekend you could do worse than go and watch eastleigh, they are playing Dover, do a bit of scouting. A tight outfit Dover, they really want something this season. http://dover-athletic.co.uk/index.php?p=teaminfo&ID=134 and http://dover-athletic.co.uk/index.php?p=teaminfo&ID=
Son of Bob Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 My old man was up at Staplewood yesterday to interview everyones favourite Brazilian Loanee and the talk was that, if the weather forecast is correct, the game will indeed be called off. There will be a pitch inspection on Friday but the outlook is bleak. I was really looking forward to the trip as well. Bloody weather!

sandwichsaint Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 It's already been called off in my house, I was supposed to be picking junior up from Luffbro Saturday morning, going to Walsall, going home. Now going up to Luff tommo, will be well ****ed off it's on! (really can't see that it will be, LOL at those asking if Walsall have undersoil heating, this is the third division FFS!) Sour Mash Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 Don't know why anyone is writing this games off already, it might be called off, but there is still a fairly good chance it'll be played, the forecast isn't THAT bad and there hasn't been a sustained period of severely bad weather like we had before the Hartlepool game. MarkSFC Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 many many years ago I forget when, I went to watch Saints at Coventry but as we arrived it got called off....the effects of snow and very cold weather I seem to recall but strangely Walsalls home game against Brighton was on so we went and stood in the Brighton end!! Maybe Saturday we'll end up at The Ricoh with the Norwich fans..................!! First away trip for a couple of seasons be gutted if called off. Still got Charlton to look forward to....have they got undersoil heating?!!

St Chalet Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 In case a football match does happen, this seems an apt thread for the pre-match build-up. Personally Fonte for Jaidi for me and hoping Chaplow back to replace MS.

S-Clarke Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 I doubt many games will go ahead this weekend, so we're not going to be left behind. hasper57saint Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 Walsalls Ground is right alongside the M6 so I've put in a request to my friends in the Highways Agency to open up the 'near side' of the salt gritters another 4" so the whirlygig things on the back shoot onto a wider range. That will ensure the pitch is ready for the Match. Incidentally it's snowing here in Telford (at 1805 or Five past Six in old money)

Yeh right on. Football used to be played in the snow, brush off the lines and wheel out the old orange ball, don't know where all this namby pamby postponing came from.No-one ever worried if upped on my arse on my way to the Dell, if the pitch was OKd by the ref the game was on and everyone just had to make the best of it. Chris Larkin Posted 16 December, 2010 Share Posted 16 December, 2010 I found out today that Andrew Davies was on loan at Walsall earlier this season, but went back to Stoke when he got injured. It's a real shame to see how much his career has been affected by injury, because he was very good for us in 07/08. Anyway, it's been snowing all afternoon but not settling here in the East Midlands and will no doubt freeze tonight. Not optimistic at all that this game is going to happen.
