Walsall Weather Watch / Build-up Thread - Game called off!

Heavy snow to hit West Midlands tomorrow and Friday.

"As this front sweeps south, it'll open the doors to an Arctic blast of winds and heavy snow showers.

"Snow will mainly affect coastal and northern parts initially, but are increasingly likely to affect northern and western areas late Thursday and into Friday. Some 10cm-20cm are possible, up to eight inches."

The Met Office has said there is a 60% risk of heavy snow during Thursday for areas including north west England, Northern Ireland, Wales, southwest Scotland, southwest England and the West Midlands.

I will be at the Walsall game on Saturday and looking at the latest weather forecast I saw that it looks like there might be a lot of Snow etc and I would like these questions answered please:

1). Is the game likely to go ahead or will it get called off?

2). Does Walsall have undersoil heating or what?

3). What is the closest Pub to the ground for away fans as well?

Would be Good to know like I along with the people who are also going to the game on here in advance as I am getting the Train to the game which may be fun getting back depending on the weather ;)!

Thanks :D!

COYR :D!!

My old man was up at Staplewood yesterday to interview everyones favourite Brazilian Loanee and the talk was that, if the weather forecast is correct, the game will indeed be called off. There will be a pitch inspection on Friday but the outlook is bleak. I was really looking forward to the trip as well. Bloody weather!

It's already been called off in my house, I was supposed to be picking junior up from Luffbro Saturday morning, going to Walsall, going home.

Now going up to Luff tommo, will be well ****ed off it's on! (really can't see that it will be, LOL at those asking if Walsall have undersoil heating, this is the third division FFS!)

many many years ago I forget when, I went to watch Saints at Coventry but as we arrived it got called off....the effects of snow and very cold weather I seem to recall but strangely Walsalls home game against Brighton was on so we went and stood in the Brighton end!!

Maybe Saturday we'll end up at The Ricoh with the Norwich fans..................!!

First away trip for a couple of seasons be gutted if called off. Still got Charlton to look forward to....have they got undersoil heating?!!

This game could go ho-ho-horiffically wrong for us if we don't snow what Walsall are going to set out like. Persnowally I would play this team, and give a few fringe players the chance to snow us what they're made of:

--------------FATHER CHRISTMAS------------

PRANCER-----DANCER-----BLITZEN-----ELF #1

ELF #2--------MACAULAY CULKIN------ELF #3

-------MRS CLAUS-------------THE GRINCH---

-------------------RUDOLPH------------------

Will Holly Lancashire be playing for Walsall?

I did exactly the same that day, thought it was due to waterlogged pitch howeverI went stood in with the Walsall fans that day, which was played at their old ground at Fellows Park

seem to remember we won the rearranged game at Coventry 3-2

it probably was, the memory aint what it used to be!!

Walsalls Ground is right alongside the M6 so I've put in a request to my friends in the Highways Agency to open up the 'near side' of the salt gritters another 4" so the whirlygig things on the back shoot onto a wider range. That will ensure the pitch is ready for the Match. Incidentally it's snowing here in Telford (at 1805 or Five past Six in old money)

So instead of playing in the snow...which is totally possible we'll be playing in a foot of slush,shît and grit. Yeh right on.

Football used to be played in the snow, brush off the lines and wheel out the old orange ball, don't know where all this namby pamby postponing came from.No-one ever worried if upped on my arse on my way to the Dell, if the pitch was OKd by the ref

the game was on and everyone just had to make the best of it.

Nice use of the Christmas Tree formation.

I found out today that Andrew Davies was on loan at Walsall earlier this season, but went back to Stoke when he got injured. It's a real shame to see how much his career has been affected by injury, because he was very good for us in 07/08.

Anyway, it's been snowing all afternoon but not settling here in the East Midlands and will no doubt freeze tonight. Not optimistic at all that this game is going to happen.

Saddlers bar next to the ground.

Costs £1 to get in - the beer is cheep - the food is good.

Last season there were more Saints fans than Walsall fans there.

Cool thanks for that information SimonRichards Mate as it will be my first time there on my own if the game goes ahead sooo I wanted to know before I get there sooo I can have a pre-match pint before or have a pint after depending on what time I get there ;)!
