Not happy with the way some Premiership clubs acted re interest in Chamberlain. Says he threw faxed bids straight in the bin  I love Cortese.

Apparently there will be a full length interview with the great man on the Telegraph website tomorrow morning

What about the bid from Arsenal that was hand delivered by a bloke in a car...? ;-)

"Oxlade-Chamberlain is wanted by Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, but Cortese revealed that he refused to enter into negotiations for the 17 year-old winger"

"We focused on what we wanted to do and not what others wanted to do. I was in the driver’s seat. There was not a second I doubted that he would stay.”

True to his every word in the December BBC interview then.

Nice.

I wonder if he will come out and rubbish this takeover rumour in this interview? Or will he just ignore it as he said he will not respond to ever silly little rumour made?

He's already rubbished any takeover stuff in the big interview he did with the BBC a few months ago.

This will be ignored by Cortese because it is complete rubbish.

He's definitely true to his word.

Oh, so you don't even know if he actually said there would be one. Just going by somebody's word on here? Must be 100% true then. Personally I couldn't care less if there's a fans forum or not.

Going on what Solent (and people at the dinner) reported. Also lighten up. I was (mostly) joking.

Yes that's what I thought. Plus I've just seen the solent report saying officals at the club have rubbished the reports but will not be making a comment. I'm pleased cortese told wicked uncle Wenger where to go. It doesn't sound like a chairman looking to sell the club does it?

Solent Twitter: "Saints say..."

Who is "Saints" in this context? Cortese? Jordan Sibley? Lady in reception who answered telephone? Etc

;-)

Well as Cortese confirmed to the season ticket holders at the dinner, the fans forum was something which needed to be organised as soon as possible. I would imagine it unlikely that he did not agree with the solent message but maybe I am mistaken.

Awesome interview from Cortese, not a man to be messed with! :D

Reading that article I think Chamberlain will be with Saints until at least summer 2012 if Saints are promoted to the CHampionship this year, and will only leave if Saints aren't a Premier League team for the 2012/13 season.

The Daily Echo is quick to publish versions of negative stories from other papers such as the Daily Mail.

Will be interesting to see if the Daily Echo reports on this Daily Telegraph story, and if it does whether it puts a positive or negative slant on it.

Hyp, you're a dude. But seriously your posts over the last month or so have been very borderline Alpine_saint. Give us a break! I don't think there's a club in the country with a future as exciting/bright as ours IMO. Stop being a negative betch.

I was largely joking (and have been off work so time on my hands!)

"Saints too quick to dismiss bids from top clubs". Or;

"Chamberlain furious that Cortese didn't even consider a bid from his dream club".

personally I would have sold Ox got good add ons and then bought Antonio from Reading. We know he can make a difference in games.

1) Oxo is one of the highest rated youngsters in the country.

2) Antonio, while very good last season, has not been anywhere near as good for Reading.

3) Antonio is out of contract in June, therefore we can get him for free.

If the £10m packages quoted are correct then maybe this would have been a plan but the reality of the offers was probably a lot lower.

3m with add ons would have done nicely. I dont believe Ox is equipped to change enough games for us to have the luxury of him.I know the majority will agree with me but that is how i see it without my rose coloured specs on.

Antonio did have the know how and strength to do so.

Not quite, compo will be due and if he is offered another contract by Reading, that will also need to be taken into account on the compo reached.

why would we want Antonio anyway? The two lads we've signed recently are probably just as good.
