Plymouth con ?

It's a joke that it got moved and now maybe none of the three players will play for their countries.

However it does give us the advantage that Morgan might be back fit by then (very little news around his state of fitness). Plus as mentioned earlier in the thread AOC should be available rather than playing for the U-19s. And even if Morgan isn't back by then, as far as central midfield goes, it reduces the number of games Hammond and Chaplow have to play before the yellow card amnesty cut-off from 5 to 4 - the cut-off is the 2nd Sunday in April (10th), and they're both on 7 yellow cards, if either reaches 10, they get an automatic 2 match ban. So we need both of them to get no more than 2 bookings from Charlton home & away, MK Dons home and Orient away. Plus we'll have Gobern back for the Charlton home game, which should take the pressure off them a little.

Finally, since we'll be playing our last away game on a bank holiday Monday, we should get a big following down there, certainly more of us Northern Saints are likely to make the long trip southwest. The only down side, as others have said, is that it's quite likely now that they could be down by then, and relegated teams often play without fear and improve their results - certainly remember Charlton improving once relegated 2 seasons ago when we went down with them.

Actually I'm coming around to liking the idea of the game being postponed now.

After Tues we have a 10 day break to recharge the batterys, ease injured players with minor knocks back up to speed, even integrate all our new loanee players  into the way we play and what will be expected of them!!

Hopeully by the time this game comes around we may be over the hills and far away from the chasing pack and the travelling hordes can have a Bank Holiday party down in Plymouth.:badger::badger:

I reckon it should be put back on, breaks don't seem to help us, we get rusty, we are on a winning streak lets play every week.

I agree.

It was dodgy to say the least when it was called off as it was surrounded by Ifs, Buts and maybes but now there is no problem it should be played...and for the reason you state !

This, plus Plymouth may have been liquidated by then (which would be good news for us, albeit I would not want it to happen) and will almost certainly have been relegated.

If they're liquidated they don't exist any more so relegation doesn't come into the argument. They'll simply no longer exist and won't play any games.

Am I missing something here. This game is now arranged to be the penultimate game of the season meaning we have that game advantage going into the last week. And the big advantage is Plymouth could already be relegated (or already safe)

Err, this sums up the situation rather well.

The only issue is whether you think (or care!) that Plymougth have pulled a fast one because they already knew that maybe 2 of these players were not likely to be fit, so 'fixed' the postponement so that they would have time to recover to play against us later. Financially they gain too, as they've already got the money for the tickets they've sold for the orignal date, and will add to that the extra for a bumper bank holiday crowd.

Many people would rather we had the points now than a game in hand at the end of the season.

Tell you what Ken, I wouldn't be too happy if I was one of the staff being asked to take another wage deferral and have to explain to my mortgage company when my employer spurned the opportunity to get a big gate in and pay me. Hope we stuff them.

And I suppose there will be more of a chance Morgan might be fit.

The trouble they are in I don't think a few thousand extra on the gate is going to get the staff paid. I think they're basically having to wait until the club is taken over.
