Barnard Injury

Yep, we won't see him for a while.

Agree with Connolly too - let's just hope he lasts it....as we all know he's made of glass! Good player to have up your sleeve though but our squad is looking very very very stretched at the wrong time.

He has been brilliant but let's not panic. Connolly looked superb when he came on but as others have said, he is so fragile so how long will he last?

We will have Lallana back soon so he can come back in with Guly going upfront if required. Forte can also go upfront so we have cover. The main thing we will miss with Barnard is his goals and work rate but Guly, Forte, Lambert, Connolly, Lallana etc can all chip in and can put the ball in the back of the net.

Conners looked different class when he came on, constanly on the shoulder, intelligent runs. He'll bring something different to the remainder of our season if he can stay fit. Not sure he'd have Barney's energy levels for 90 mins but there's definitely goals in him.

Feel bad for Barney, he looked in a lot of pain and we could do without him being injured for the run in. Any other big players who fancy getting injured now? It's starting to get a bit of a joke.

Saw Barny leave in his kit, grabbed some tea and saw him coming back down hill lane an hour later (Guess footballers don't wait like the rest of us)

Got to be a good sign being sent home straight away.

Very nice car Mr Wilkins :)

Connolly played well, but he did not look "a different class".

Really ?

He never gave the ball away once, he made intelligent runs, he made himself available whenever anyone was looking for an outlet, and he was comitted.

The chase and block on their guy towards the end was excellent.

I thought he was class and hope he can stay fit, he is more than an adequate replacement for Barnard.

He played well, but he was not a different class to the rest of the players on the pitch. He put that performance in over about 10 minutes. Had the game carried on playing he'd have been much quieter.

Incorrect, he came on in the 66th minute and with 5 minutes of injury time he put in that performance over more like 30 minutes.

10 mins ? Were you there today ??

I am not so confident as you on this. He has, apparently, a small groin muscle tear which will be bl00dy painful and cannot be rushed back. I speak from personal experience, you understand.

I dissagree. His endeavour, movement off the ball and positioning was absolutely top draw, played a massive part in opening up the Rover's defence time and again towards the end of the game.

Well Forte went off injured and Lambert was hobbling for the last half hour.

Agreed with everything until I read that last bit. Don't think he could do it for 90 mins like Barnard would - DC is a superb player to call from the Bench but I just don't see him playing from the start in any of our remaining games. I will, of course, be happy to be proved wrong!!!!

I'd start with Connolly unless the medical advice is that he really can't last for more than 30-45 minutes.

If Barney's out for the season, we're down to just three recongised strikers - including Guly. Who is probably the most frustrating player I've seen in a Saints shirt. Amazing natural ability, but still manages to look sh1t quite a lot.

A sprained ankle is actually damage to the ligaments so that was always going to be the case ! What matters mainly is whether there is any actual rupture of the ligaments. Either way it is very painful, bruising is likely to extend for some way and the degree of bruising often indicates how bad the damage is. Main thing we need to know therefore is how bad the ligament damage is.

I'm sat with Ryan Dickson in a bar and just asked him how Lee is. He said he text him and said he wasn't sure if it was a breakage or not bit he's at hospital. I asked if it looked nasty but Ryan said he was too exhausted to run over and look. Was a real hard, physical game for the players apparently, which is exactly how it looked from the stands

Thank Ryan for his performance today. I thought he was good.

Could you thank Ryan for his performance today from me too. Make sure you say it separately from Tamesaint's thanks and make sure Ryan knows it is from me. I don't want my thanks lumped in with Tamesaint's thanks.

He didn't mention our chances and our conversation was short. He's with his girlfriend (very attractive, blonde, lots of make up, but not sure if she'd be all that first thing in the morning) he only said that it took a lot to break down rovers and that it was their cup final. Wanted to make more conversation but mate kept taking the p!ss cos he's not as fussed about him being on the same table as I am.

Dickson's a class player. He's been criminally under-used this season.

Go back and tell him thanks from Deppo. Tell him I thought he was good. Tell him I thought he was better than what Tamesaint thought he was.

Harsh coming from the guy who thinks that 'better than Fred Dinage' is a yardstick...

Fully agreed. He showed a level of desire that had been massively lacking in the majority of the team towards the end of the second half. Could be an important attribute in the last few games. The thing that gets me is that he's physically diminuitive, but always makes a nuisance of himself regardless of that.

5 games, connolly and forte to chip in, lallana back. We've had injuries but it could be a lot worse. We've got a strong squad to cope as we have without so much quality. How many teams would get by without their three best midfielders?

He could be our best striker, provided he can stay out of the treatment room for the remaining 5 matches.
