Ways to improve the stadium

I was thinking last time I was there that in te concourse it's bloody dark and un inviting.

The plastic cladding around the outside woud, in my opinion be far better if it was see through so it coudl let more light in. This would brighten up the whole concourse and enable us to not use the loights so much and save on the leccy bill and do our bit for the enviroenment.

If you look on this picture

All you'd need to do is remove the lower gray portion (the bit under the windows) that's above the doors and you'd have a much nicer councourse.

I'd also liek some of the exposed piping and tv's cleaned up a bit as it's starting to look dirty/tired.

Personally, I think the concourses are ok. Certainly, compared to those at Coventry etc it's all pretty standard.

Improvements for me would involve seemingly smaller touches. Re-introducing live match coverage on the concourse teles during the game, ensuring the facilities are correctly staffed/stocked. It wouldn't take much to improve things.

How long before someone with a beard, posts about the need to sell real ales, despite the complete unsuitability to do so...FFS

Well, obviously the lager-louts got here first! And I haven't got a beard. And it is feasible, but not to anybody who doesn't know what they're talking about and has a "that's difficult" attitude.

does anyone know why the live TV feed to the concourse disappeared? I guess the only reason was so people were given every incentive to get back to their seats after half time so the caterers could clean up. Pain in the butt when you need to make a quick exit after final whistle though.

They started to re-paint the metal structure that goes around the stadium before last season, then randomly stopped half way through? Even now you can see some has been painted, some hasn't. Any reason why this is?

just using up the rest of the paint Lowe had bought. Either that or NC had a change of heart and wants to paint it blue.

Mods,,,to the lounge with this fred, We got lots of good ideas,

You aren't in a great position to comment on other team's stadiums when you visit Fratton Park every other week and the club's only idea of infrastructure improvement was to use seven years of Premier League TV money to put a roof on the away end.

Brighton's new ground will have real ale.

I know. Almost makes me want to become a Seagull.

(not). But if they can do it so can we. How flippin difficult is it to chuck a keg up on the back bar the night before so it settles and then stick a tap in it? Not rocket science.

Would like to see a large piece of public art installed outside the stadium - something that would do for the stadium site what the Anish Kapoor sculpture is going to do for the Olympic park.

Would also like to see some form of pre match ritual to get the crowd going. The occasions that we do the R & W cards on every seat create a fantastic visual spectacle, but obviously that would only work for full house matches. The eagle at Benfica's ground is an amazing spectacle so perhaps we need our own version of this.

Getting replays back on the big screen would be great. I know it's to do with the TV facilities in the stadium but it could work.

Food sellers in the gangways - like baseball - buy from a guy who carries round snacks.

Better on pitch audience participation at half time. get local clubs involved in a season long competition of some sort.

I believe this is now forbidden by the league. Something to do with protecting the authority of the referee and linesmen. If the replay demonstrably shows the ref in error all hell could kick off. I might be wrong though, just what I heard.

Are you suggesting the officials sometimes make the wrong decisions?

It could also solve issues. I remember Henry scoring against Niemi (at Highfield), Niemi moaning it was offside or something only for the 2 of them to watch the replay on the big screen. Niemi saw he was wrong and got on with it.

They have them in the Prem and Championship games that I have been to this season.

Good idea that would definitely work if we bought the waterfront area infront and had a prestige piece overlooking the water with a walkway to the ground from it.

Surely if we had this every game it would devalue the times we did it? Unless you go for fan organised things like you see on the continent. It would be unique to this country and encourage people there earlier.

Spot on but is that not also a tv rights issue?

They used to have the food seller at the front of the stand but stopped doing it for some reason, never understood why since it was a good way to keep the bars free from those that just wanted food/soft drinks and helped less able fans

Personally i'd get rid of half time entertainment altogether since in my 25+ years of going i'm yet to see anything decent (well except for ****ed up dog displays and the like at the old dell). Also get rid of that gimp that "gees the crowd up" before games. He's painfully embarrassing and talks absolute ****. Either that or move him down the family end away from the Northam so he stops trying to be involved every game.

ok, maybe I'm wrong. But wouldn't it require a sophisticated setup akin to what Sky brings along when they film? Surely you would need eyeballs on an editing suite at all times and some kit to cache the feed etc. As far as I am aware when it is just filmed 'in house' there is only one bloke with a camera up in the Kingsland above the half way line.

How about scantily clad nubile teenage cheer leaders of the B&H Albion variety?

We used to have a quiz and other fun things in the Dell bar before the game. Long haired fella, forget his name. Was trying to get into radio. Wonder what he's up to these days. That always made it more fun. Especially the times when we had VIPs give a talk after the game.

I think it is 'controversial' decisions that aren't allowed to be shown.

I think the Dell bar is a real missed opertunity. How much is it for a membership? Should be open to all. I know space is at a premium, perhaps an expansion?

On quiet games so long as you ask nicely the stewards let you in. Otherwise, sorry to be defensive but if yer name ain't down you ain't coming in! Too right - it is a private members club! (shame it can't be a men-only club ;). There's a good crowd that meet in the Dell bar. Good grub too. Beer's still smeg though.

I get your point. Just seems like a good business move to have fans spending money in the club.

I believe that's correct. For all the PL games there is a live edit going on whereas in the FL for anything that's not televised live or is the featured game for The Football League Show it's just one camera recording the footage.

Put some imagines up against the metal fence where the railway line is. Pictures of the crowd, JPT win, 1976, promotion etc. Gives the outside more identity.

Also, finish painting that bridge. Half is red, half is green. Looks naff.

Would be great if we could get the land where the gas works are, and the bit on the waterfront at the front of the stadium. Could have some spacious bars etc create some pre game atmosphere.

I hear it was because 'we' insisted as the original job was below expected standards. Why they stopped, I do not know. Maybe a contractual dispute over who foots the bill. ;-)

Knock the whole thing down. Erect two wooden two tier stands & two triangular shaped concrete terraces at either end (one with chocolate boxes above it).

Rename it the Dell. Joatdone.

That would only work if they made the upper tiers come down so low that if you stand at the back of the lower you cant see the whole pitch.

What advantage would there be to the club of altering the Stadium it would cost money and I would prefer money to be spent on the team
