Smalls Posted 28 December, 2008 Share Posted 28 December, 2008 Really guys, what would it achieve. He must be one of the lowest paid managers we have ever had, who would come or better still want to come here. I seriously can't think of any. In my opinion we have played 2 really poor home games this season Blackpool and of course Forest. In all the others things just haven't gone for us although I do accept it's the lack of goals that really causing us all the problems but there is no easy solution. WealdSaint Posted 28 December, 2008 Share Posted 28 December, 2008 I'm sure that out there the is a manager who can turn things around on our tiny budget. However, even if Mr Lowe could find him, would he have the guts to admit he was wrong about JP? How would he react the very first time this new manager said "Thanks for the advice Rupert but actually I'll select the team/players to be sold etc."

chivvy1664 Posted 28 December, 2008 Share Posted 28 December, 2008 (edited) Rubbish : Jan cant possibly know the players in this country to get us out of this mess. We are in relegation fight and we need players with fight to get through it not light weight poncy youngsters with no end product. We need to grinding out results. We need the dogs of War not Show Poodles. Sell surman and Lallana to fund these players. Our championship status is more important than anything else. 2 new centre backs one central midfield and One Brute forward. Leon please put your hand in your pocket to fund this even if the others dont. We have a transfer window to put it right. SACK JAN NOW! Andy_Porter Posted 28 December, 2008 Share Posted 28 December, 2008 false economy ftw! we're screwed with this chump in charge. It doesn't matter how cheap he is or how skint we are, the manager is so important. I'd sell any player to fund a new manager, even someone like Kelvin who has been brilliant would be worth selling to bring in a decent Billy Davies type manager. I still think we're a decent club for a CCC manager. We're a big club in this league with a lot of potential and tbh even this season we still have a bigger fan base than the majority of clubs in the league. Everyone is being so nice about him; 'Its not JPs fault... look what Rupert's given him to work with... Rupert interfers...' etc etc... Sorry. JP does not understand this League. JP does not have any consistent team selection. JP does not have a Plan B. I was shocked when I watched him over the last couple of games I went to. Clueless on the touch line, NOT oozing confidence. Defeated by his own lack of decision-making ability. The man can only act when prompted by his aide, whom I'd assumed was Wotte but it was the other ineffective coach (albeit more effective than JP). JP looks broken when he steps up to the touchline. JP has failed. Lowe put in a man who was out of his depth. Nice bloke.... sure. Effective. No. He has failed just as his losing master has predictably failed once more. Problem is.... would you prefer Lowe's next 'coach'? His name I believe is Sir Clive Woodward. No other decent manager is going to come to Saints. Lowe's final coup de grace for Saints may be SCWs introduction - at the very least I believe Lowe will attempt to put him in place instead of JP .... all IMHO of course. What would it achieve having a new manager?....well... Sensible team selections Sensible tactics An ability to change style/approach etc when things are going very wrong (as is most of the time at present) Guidance from the touchline... Lets just roll over, give up and die. What a bloody pathetic post. I guarantee that even with Lowe around, there are dozens of managers who would still fancy a crack at the Saints job, and I see you've also been taken in by the JP is cheap bull****. He may have been marginally cheaper than NP, but don't forget we've added a new coach since then as well. JP may be cheap but he isn't doing it for love. I guess also you din't go to the Watford game, otherwise you will know we had at least 3 bad games, that one was the last I went to, I cannot stomach any more such utter pathetic rubbish touted as exciting football played in the Dutch style. Bunch of reasonaly talented footballers with no idea what they are supposed to be doing, or how to create a chance, even missing 2 penalties. FFS how bad do you think it has to get? In all the others things just haven't gone for us although I do accept it's the lack of goals that really causing us all the problems but there is no easy solution. FFS there is an easy solution. We are narrow and have no width. Make the wide players play on the touchline, if they come inside sombody goes wide. Go for the byeline, get bodies into the box in the mean time. We are undisciplined, when a move breaks down, the players have to bust a gut to try and get goalside, that means sprinting not strolling. Attack the ball wherever it is, instead of standing off and passing responsibility. Football is a childishly simple game, the top teams keep it simple and follow simple guidelines, if the players don't they are out. Jan Portvleit is sending out all the wrong signals, unless he gets his act together we are going down.

Under Weststand Posted 28 December, 2008 Share Posted 28 December, 2008 JP is not up to it & by that I mean he cannot stand up to Lowe & make his own decisions. Sacking him to bring in another puppet is there any point really, as in my opinion Lowe is not going to bring in a Billy Davies type (which IMHO we need) as he would not stand for any interference from Lowe. Lowe has proved over & over again he will take no responsibility for the plight we find ourselves in. Will he really admit his vision is wrong & take decisive steps to put it right. I don't think so, so for all our pontificating unless Lowe will change his mind there really is no point in JP leaving. As sad as that may be that is what we are left with.
