Pearce loan extended until end of Jan.

I don't understand why it's such a short term loan though? Unless there is a rule that were trying to work our way around, I don't understand why we haven't either signed him until the end of the season or just said thanks but no-thanks now?

It shows how far BC have come on in the last few years... but also how far we have fallen :(

BC fell a lot further than we have done so far since their days in the top flight, they have also recovered from a worse financial situation than we have so far faced. BC may not be a huge club, but Bristol is a much bigger city than Southampton (twice the size, th biggest city in England) and potentially could support a top flight football club, its just that it tends to be more of a rugby city.

Good news about Pearce. I think the OS hints at why it is only another month, he is here as cover for Killer. Suggests the Club expect Killer to be fit by end January at current rate. Think Pearce is the only other potentially successful loan other than Cork. Even Pearce has not been an unqualified success, but does have the potential to be good at this level, and is a threat in their area.

BBC explains what happened with John, there was an informal agreement to extend the loan if it worked out, and clearly that is what has happened. Think we have treated last season's top scorer rather shabbily, but nothing surprises me with Lowe in charge.

It's a sad day when we can't even compete with the likes of Bristol City (no offence intended)

Especially when we really, really need a proven goalscorer NOW

to avoid relegation...

Come on Rupert convince the bank that we need, no MUST have

a decent finisher if revenue is not to fall further after our

entry into league one.

Waiting to see what we get in in the way of offers for our players before putting in a permanent bid perhaps?

This sort of thing did cross my mind. Or perhaps waiting to see if we are able to keep hold of Cork for the season? Do we need both? I'd say yes for cover, but it does make you wonder what's being discussed behind the scenes.

Good news, but would have been happier to read it is for the whole season, considering that he has probably been brought in for cover for Killer yet his next relapse is probably already in the post...

Perhaps they have given us up until the day before the transfer window closes to decided if we want to buy him.

Perhaps we have a block on any new contracts past that date.

With Bristol being bigger than Manchester, I think it can cope with having the Gasheads as well.

Manchester is Englands third biggest English city, Bristol the 6th. I agree that Bristol should be able to support two clubs, but neither have a huge following. Ever since I was a kid (and probably for years before that) people have been going on about the potential of BC, but it has always come to nothing.

Pure speculation. This is Lowe being tight-fisted again.

Pure speculation, maybe his parent club had a say in the loan agreement, just a thought which you will probably overlook and blame Lowe, Wilde, saints uber fans, happy clappys and anyone else who doesn't agree with you or your posts. I'm quite happy he is staying until the end of January and hopefully we can keep him for the remainder of the season but like you I know nothing about the terms of the loan.

I beg to differ, though it does depend how measured:

It is because he is here as cover for Killer. It just about says as much on the OS. Hence it has been extended until Killer's likely (or unlikely) return to "fitness". So stop speculating as to the reason and tearing metaphorical lumps out of each other.

Strange it is until 30 Jan when we have a fixture on 31 Jan.

Perhaps it is to allow Reading to sell him on 31 Jan if they get a good offer.

Killer? Sadly he will never be fit again.

It appears you are speculating as it mentions absolutely nothing on the OS as cover for Killer.

But the Manchester link says the population is 458,000 pop, so who knows.

I'm all for keeping Cork and Pearce but why the **** are we talking of keeping Smith and Robertson who are both arse. Surely if Saga and Dyer are coming back there is absolutely no point.

amen. Smith is weak, a bottler and I don't want him pussyfooting in front of me for the rest if the season. As for strikers perhaps we do need numbers. Robertson is not the answer though.

How on earth you can turn that point into an anti Lowe slogan is beyond all belief - talk about bitter and twisted you moron. Pearce has been poor lately and certainly NOT a proven player at this level. Give the Lowe thing a rest for a minute mate and take stock of the real situation. The jury is most definately out on Pearce and we would plain stupid to sign him longer term until he has proven himself!!!!!!!!!!!! Get a life and talk logic and your posts might command more respect !!!!

Logic ? We have the weakest defence in the CCC. Pearce represents an improvement on nothing...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Perhaps an extension of only one month was nessessary, could he be part of any deal with Reading for Surman, therefore leading to a permanant contract.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4010894.Reading_leading_chase_for_Surman/

Would be happy with 1.5m plus Pearce. Would make sense anyway, Reading must not really see Pearce as part of their plans and we could really use him.

Looks like Coppel is going to play his reserves again hence Pearce's recall. Great opportunity for Lancashire against Manure but we need to get someone in doubke quick for the rest of the season. ****tu at Bolton wouold be great but way out of our reach. Anyone got any other suggestions. Davenport seems to be available again at WHU.

I still remain optimistic that Baird may return.

Baird and Perry with Skacel and James at fullback, that has to be smallest back four in the history of CCC football. We need to get some height in. 6'3" Danny Livesey from Carlise would be a decent target.
