And this is the whole point. When Lurch had a defence and big Vic plus Morgan S in front of of him he seemed the best thing since sliced bread. When they went and we played a different system he looked very ordinary.

I feel Wood is decent, especially in this league where you need brave physical defenders

On the back of their performances in the shirt I'm just not sure I rate THB much further ahead of Wood but his price tag will be much higher.

If it freed up funds to look at the 9 (pending other outgoings) I think I'd give it a sniff.

I dont get the hype of THB and so if we could claw in what we paid £20M or a little more then surely would be good.

I agree, he has a tenacity about him and is one of those old school, dive in front of a shot type defenders.

I feel he has the potential to make errors that give the opposition scoring opportunities, though.

We had about 4 prem quality players. The rest weren't even great for the championship.

Id read this about him, exceptional shot stopper but prone to a clanger, which I guess is why nobody higher up the divisions have taken a punt on him

Hardly sneaky I forgot about Ramsdale. How is it wrong? THB wasn't good enough be a starter, Manning isn't  a prem player, neither is Fraser or any of our strikers. Downes wasn't, ugochukwu debatable but probably not. Ramsdale, kwp, Dibling for half a season and Fernandes were.

In fairness I agree our premiership recruitment was horrendous, we’d be left in the lurch by Wilcox, somehow decided we didn’t need another DoF and threw too much autonomy at Martin

By the looks of it, getting this team set the way we have now and keeping £80m of the sales profit is exceptional work and hopefully, all being well, sets us up to attack next year

Would be a shame to lose THB at this late stage. He has been promoted twice in a row and very good at this level. Pretty sure we would want well in excess of £25m which would surely put off any buyers unless they are totally desperate (that will be West Ham then...)

If It’s West Ham I’d add another £5m minimum for exactly that reason. They are desperate and panicking.

He is great at this level, but we have quite a few CBs especially if we're imminently returning to 4 at the back. For £25m I'd definitely cash in especially since he's too sluggish for the PL.

We are extremely lucky that we struck it lucky with Fernandes and that Dibling came good. Without them this season would probably have been much more painful as we didn't have many more sellable assets.

I don’t think Saints would entertain an offer from West Ham for any player at the moment, unless they’re paying massively over the asking price to the points where their pants get pulled down.

I wouldn’t be against selling THB for anything more than we paid for him. I’m not convinced that he’s a quality Premier league CB. He may grow into one in time but may be best to cash in now and reinvest.

He did travel. He was named in the team 75 minutes before kickoff. Ruled out through illness since arriving at the stadium.

Rangers couldn't afford him.
