HarvSFC Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Sacha Tavolieri gets a lot wrong to be fair. Lavia was sold many times before he finally went to Chelsea. Edozie was sold weeks ago to Strasbourg and Brugge. We signed Manuel Benson alongside a host of other random Belgian footballers. This feels like a tactic to speed us up on deadline day. By all accounts we've agreed personal terms with Scienza, and quite some time ago. It's just the transfer fee that is stalling the deal. Heidenheim would of course love the deal to be concluded early today so that they get the time and money in to sign his replacement, so any reports of a "hijacking", and very few deals get hijacked these days may make our side a bit more proactive. 1
Saint_lambden Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago A shame as he looks a brilliant player but will allow Fraser to play in his best position and have Robinson as his understudy so not all bad
SNSUN Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago If we don't get Scienza you would assume the club have some late targets lined up instead. Hopefully we can get it done, we're not exactly skint.

Pretty sure his quote about scoring largely referred to strikers. That was before he made the comment about scoring. 🙂. Are you suggesting to drop Manning for relatively unknown quantity Jellert - for the Derby match?? I think the three UK based newbies make fair sense - but not Jellert right off the bat imo. It’s a high pressure match for players who have been around the block a little. Im not sure, for example, that Jay should start that one either. Better as a last half hour sub and let Fellows Azaz Fraser and co do their thing. They have dealt with derbies before. 1

No I'm saying I'm not sure Still is a giant fan of Manning given his defensive deficiencies as evidenced by the fact he dropped him last time he scored and clearly preferred Wellington. I'm not saying Manning should be dropped, I'm saying it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he was. 3

saintwbu Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago If that Sacha Tavolieri says he’s going to Paris then he’s probably at Staplewood for his medical as we speak - the Belgian Alex Crook 4

If Scienza does land with us rather than Paris FC his dead ball skills (which are probably Manning’s strong suit) might pave the way for Jellert, and upon return, Wellington to be the preferred LBs. 1

He had an injury issue end of last season, but nothing to suggest its a big problem looking at his injuries over last two seasons : I mean a loan is low risk for us anyway, if that knee issue is a problem we haven't commited to buy. 1

You make a fair point, but it should be remembered that Jelert has been playing for Galatasaray so is pretty familiar with high pressure atmospheres. I think that key will be if Still wants to go 4 at the back - he might consider Jelert better suited than Manning in that formation. 4

Hopper Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I do view Scienza as a bit of a luxury signing but boy has it been a while since we've had one of those. Hopefully ze German can get it done.
