SaintsBarry74 Posted Monday at 17:33 Posted Monday at 17:33 They're nearly at full strength and still have something to play for. Derby... We're coming for you.
OneMrsWallace Posted Monday at 18:02 Posted Monday at 18:02 I wonder what Pep will 'learn' from us this time round 😅 City 3-0 up at half time then ease off to win 4-0. I'm an optimist.
sockeye Posted Monday at 18:03 Posted Monday at 18:03 (edited) Their horrific autumn run feels like a lifetime ago now. I think they'll finish second in the league. Unfortunately we have no chance. 0-3. As an aside, the squad relegated in 2022-23 would normally fight for their lives in a 'shop window' game like this. Remember when we knocked them out of the cup two years ago? No chance of any such result with this season's rabble. Edited Monday at 18:07 by sockeye 1
AlexLaw76 Posted Monday at 18:03 Posted Monday at 18:03 I reckon a couple of the no hopers will put in a decent shift…. Against top opposition of course 0-4
Holmes_and_Watson Posted Monday at 18:58 Posted Monday at 18:58 If we're still paying Russ, can we get him back to shake Pep's hand before the game? Normally, rerunning Nate's self indulgent masterclass video v City would be enough. But I worry our team might be in something of a slump, and need that extra edge. 2

Barton Saint Posted Monday at 19:31 Posted Monday at 19:31 Going to be a very hard watch this Saturday might be even more embarrassing

When we last played them, didn't Pep say we were the best team City had played and he could learn a lot from us? And then City went in to freefall and realised what we were doing was absolute bollocks!! So now they're playing more positive football again and this could be anything. If Rusk persists with this idea of keeping the loss to a minimum, 0-4 seems about right.
Pamplemousse Posted Monday at 19:49 Posted Monday at 19:49 If I hadn't have already purchased (non-refundable) train tickets I'd seriously consider not going. The players don't turn up most weeks so why should we?

They were doing well at that point, so even the chance of dropping 2 points was seen as a Martin masterclass by Pep.
St. Ciervo Posted Tuesday at 02:19 Posted Tuesday at 02:19 I am sure our players are just happy to be there. Tourists the lot.
Wade Garrett Posted Tuesday at 05:37 Posted Tuesday at 05:37 Haaland and Grealish will probably get a run out. It won’t go double-figures because they’ll feel sorry for us at half-time. Hopefully, Rusk will pick Fernandes in front of Smallbone. Why don’t we go 4-2-3-1. Ramsdale KWP THB Bednarek Wellington Downes Big Les Dibling Fernandes Sulemana Archer Can’t be any worse than that 5 at the back shite. 1
Doctoroncall Posted Tuesday at 06:00 Posted Tuesday at 06:00 The only reason they may not thrash us is having the FA cup final the following week. So a training session would suit, players get a run out and only four goals conceded against our five at the back well oiled defensive structure. 1
Turkish Posted Tuesday at 06:05 Posted Tuesday at 06:05 (edited) Match week 35 in the English Premier soccerball league and it’s Southampton Saints v the citizens of Manchester I for a sneaking suspicious this is the week when it all comes together and in front of the US global tv audience the saints are unable to crush a 18 year record held by the county of Derby meanwhile derailing the Citizens bid to finished only 15 points behind the reds of Liverpool. im gonna predict a 1-1 tie and proof once again the English Soccerball league can produce some almighty shocks! Let’s go Southampton Saints! Edited Tuesday at 06:18 by Turkish 5
Football Special Posted Tuesday at 07:06 Posted Tuesday at 07:06 It will be another reminder of why I won't miss the Premier League Full house, expensive tickets, half and half scarf wearers everywhere hoping to see City's star players. Game a waste of time as a contest. We did only lose 1-0 away from home in a game where we could have got something, recall Tall Paul having a good chance with a header at the back post. Pep then gave Russ a big hug and heaped praise on our brave manager at the time, no doubt he'll use the pre match press conference to criticise Saints for sacking him. Prediction 0-3 1
tdmickey3 Posted Tuesday at 07:07 Posted Tuesday at 07:07 A 3 nil defeat is the best we can hope for but if they fancy some shooting practice for the cup final it will be more
CylonKing Posted Tuesday at 07:33 Posted Tuesday at 07:33 2-1 to Saints. Heard it here first. What's that Nurse? Back to my room now. OK. 2
Andy Hill Posted Tuesday at 07:34 Posted Tuesday at 07:34 Can’t be any worse than last weeks pathetic effort.
CB Fry Posted Tuesday at 08:50 Posted Tuesday at 08:50 Will be a performance where they all bust a gut and try their hearts out for 75 minutes but lose 3-0 anyway. What they needed to do was try on Saturday against shit opposition, not go all out for the noble defeat against CL level opposition.

suewhistle Posted Tuesday at 10:18 Posted Tuesday at 10:18 I was telling my friend that Saints had a home match this Saturday but momentarily couldn't remember who against: "Can't remember who we are losing to this week" were my words..

Saint86 Posted Tuesday at 10:26 Posted Tuesday at 10:26 could be a 0-9 incoming here, they need the GD to catch Arsenal.

Andrew Watson Posted Tuesday at 11:06 Posted Tuesday at 11:06 As many as City want to score, with our lot unable or unwilling [ Fernandes and Ramsdale apart ] to even try, this could be very, very painful for us fans.
franniesTache Posted Tuesday at 11:38 Posted Tuesday at 11:38 Given we are in our golden period and that the board are doing a magnificent job on everything except for recruitment and managers i think it'd be foolhardy to expect anything other than a home banker here. So Saints 9 Man City 0 seems the obvious choice for a prediction. We are all so lucky to be watching such a golden era of the club, the best in our history and no doubts
coalman Posted Tuesday at 11:43 Posted Tuesday at 11:43 Surely we should be calling these "Saints vs Other Team mismatch thread" these days?
John Boy Saint Posted Tuesday at 12:14 Posted Tuesday at 12:14 1 hour ago, Saint86 said: could be a 0-9 incoming here, they need the GD to catch Arsenal. I am amazed, given how our defence seems to have more holes than Swiss cheese, that someone hasn’t taken us “to the f**king cleaners” - (to vaguely quote the opening of Life of Brian)

Killers Knee Posted Tuesday at 12:46 Posted Tuesday at 12:46 As soon as the whistle blows we should start a fight amongst ourselves, get the 5 red cards and accept the 3 nil. 3
