A rival is someone you are of similar ability to and you want to surpass. I don't consider the likes of West Brom, Coventry, Boro, Norwich or whoever else rivals for that particular season - because we had an extreme amount of financial muscle and better players on average than everyone except Leeds and Leicester. Ipswich of course were also rivals in practice because they ended up performing at a comparable level to us.

In regards to your remarks about the unbeaten run giving the opportunity for us to reach the play offs, obviously if you pick up points consistently you will be in the mix at the end of the season. But the trouble is that we were (afaik) aiming for automatics, and if we weren't then we should have been. We had the squad for it. If we had not been unbeaten and instead lost more and won more, we would have been in a better position. It takes 3 draws to equal a win, and doesn't help your GD much either.

That’s disingenuous. He was at pains to stress how much the game meant to the fans and everyone at the club and talked about how they have even had club legends coming in this week to drill it home even further to all the new recruits, of which there are a lot. It’s obvious they all know how much it means and know how important it is to win on Sunday.

Now 'Breezy' has moved on, who have we got left whose nickname (the one they actually get called by the staff, none of this Loch Ness Drogba nonsense) is known? 

I know Martin had one for everyone, but Still seems more selective on whom he bestows the honour.

Summary.

• Love being here, it is really good. Infra at the club is just great. It is very exciting

We'd have been better just appointing a manager with experience at this level. Pretty confident that Dyche or Wilder would have us top 6 at this point. From what I've seen so far we'll be lucky to finish in the top half of the table.

I have some concerns. Nothing more than that yet either, and the new signings look a cut above the turds which floated in the PL toilet pan, Fernandes apart. 

But I’m just not seeing a pattern of play regardless of formation and Mousinho set up better today on 10% of the budget which our better quality cancelled out second half. Then the last 20 mins is the Alamo to retrieve the situation. And if we’re going direct, then we needed a far better target man than Damion Flippin Downes. The tactics do not work with Archer, who played well, and AA.

That’s where I am, but want to see more of a pattern of play emerging earlier on in matches. Bar Watford we have wasted the Championship first halves this season which limits the scope to put a winning run together.

Depends on the points gap.

Only have to look at the September era of the Martin thread of when we were last in the Championship for him to be called to be sacked after 4 defeats. Even he made the playoffs. We won't get anywhere chopping and changing managers every 5 mins after losing...*checks* one game this season.
