Sky is terrible.

I’m amazed it’s not discussed in the media more.

Gary Neville talks over the same stuff year after year about Man United, he’s not wrong, but it’s beyond boring now.

Jamie Carragher, Liverpool through and through, clear and obvious, will be the first to jump to their defence but be the first to attack another team even if Liverpool did the same thing. He fawns over the same shit. Salah could score a tap in and score one goal all season and Haaland could score a goal a game and at the end of the season he’d still pick Salah because of his “technique” or “composure”.

Jamie Redknapp, how is he employed? I mean seriously? I say that with no bias, he just talks bollocks.

The Soccer Saturday pundits are no better. I’ve seen journos produce better tactical insight.

I’m so glad I don’t watch the Premier League anymore.

I miss the days of Tim Lovejoy, Helen Chamberlain in the morning. Then Jeff Stelling, Matt, Charlie, Merson, Phil Thompson for Saturday afternoon.

Maybe it's just me being nostalgic, but you have to say it was just better.

The likes of Morrison and Sherwood on Soccer Saturday is a total WTF - if you can understand Morrison half the time.

Because it was like that for probably the last decade? I’m assuming over one summer and a couple of matches it hasn’t changed that.

Your response would imply it hasn’t 😅

It's okay to admit you watch it and still don't like the people on it.

Perhaps he watched it a couple of years ago, thought it was shite, so stopped watching it. I know I did.

This entirely. There’s more to life than watching wealthy former footballers of varying ability discuss the same topics and teams over and over again.

Jamie Redknapp which one of his pointless punditry nuggets just now.

He described City's new signing, Reijnders, as one of those players you look at and he just looks like a footballer.

No shit.

Yes, responding to another poster about a Sky pundit and talking about the old days is very weird 🤷🏻‍♂️🙄

Okay, my bad. You don't watch any PL football or any of the sky coverage. Good for you :D

Feel for those people paying for a sky subscription. Its desperately bad. Soccer Saturday is pathetic with the level of 'expert' opinion on offer

Don’t understand how Carragher gets away with commentating on Liverpool games. His biased little whiney Scouse accent, fapping away every time Liverpool do something mildly exciting. He shouldn’t even have a job after spitting at that kid.

Not just on sky. Puntits have multiplied exponentially in all sports on all channels, doing nothing except spouting the bleeding obvious, contributing mightily to global warming with all the hot air that comes out of their sometimes unintelligible and inarticulate mouths and getting paid a fortune to do so.

Not a fan.

How or why Carragher is still employed in the media after that disgusting spitting incident is beyond me.

Worse than the Gray/Keys episode in my book.

He's got his own show on Sky this year, he fronts a review show on a Sunday apparently. (if there have been multiple games on a sunday)

Talk about rewarding incompetence. I wish I could be as bad and ill-disciplined in my job and get constant leg ups.

Mark Chapman is probably the best out there currently.

David Prutton could go far, but unfortunately he isn’t a big enough name for Sky to have hosting the Premier League.

Half expect them to call on Joey Barton ahead of David Prutton. 😂

Why would you wait 2 years and then randomly post a bitch post on a saints related forum, when we aren't in the premier league 😂 Did he have a bad dream and need somewhere to vent?

Accumulators (betting in general for that matter) is a mugs game. It's not easier now, and if you think it is, feel free to give us your sure fire tips for next week so that we can all make a shed load.

Back on topic, I agree the new Soccer Saturday cast is pretty awful. I'd far rather just search scores on my phone if needed. Can't stand Carragher. Don't mind Neville too much though. Other presenters are all a bit meh.

The new MoTD presenters cast is pretty solid IMO. Now sure how I feel about Rooney as a permanent pundit, but sure he'll grow in to it.

In context it made sense. There were several posts from a separate thread that was then moved to create this thread.

To those stumbling on this it looks like I created a random thread 😂 But the first post was in response to another poster who shared similar thoughts.

It doesn’t bother me, Sky is shit, gone are the days of Soccer Saturday when it was fun to watch.

My point was that I hadn’t watched Sky pre/post-match PL analysis for a few years now; but you get off clips pop up and they try to regurgitate the same drama and stories over and over again.

EFL coverage is a lot more fun, more varied, different guests and pundits.

BBC had one of the best pundit teams of Linekar, Shearer and Wright on MOTD.

Over X amount of goals across a number of games is always a good one, especially if it’s teams that like to play out from the back (Russell Martin, Frank Lampard etc), and with that generally come fouls because the opposition gets frustrated.

I like to go for stuff like that. 😊

only words i feel moved to add is Karen Carney.

I dont pay for sky so not sure if she is on there but fucking hell she is absymal.

I think it was Alex Scott who absolutley made the blokes with her look stupid with her anlysis and how much she knew about each player, the tactics etc, she was legit, carney is not.

Yes....it's very strange situation. I hate virtually everything about the EPL....yet all I want us to do is get promoted from a division that I enjoy being in. Inexplicable!

Since being down in the championship last time, switched from the Athletic, which no longer had a dedicated journalist for Saints info to NTT20. Far, far better presenters and content and get to know the two other leagues as well.

Never had sky so nothing to miss.

I caught the last bit of the Liverpool / Bournemouth game and, like Russell Martin emerging, blinking, into the bright lights of the PL, was surprised by what seemed like even higher levels of pace and power.

I've said before I pretty much turn on and off for the match. So, I only catch the odd minute of punditry, as I'm shutting it off.

In that game, the alleged racist certainly seems to identified himself while doing it. So, good it was isolated, easily picked up, if true we won't be seeing him again at a match, and there was lots of support from players and staff.

One guy doing it is one too many. But I get why the minutes of presenter-with-serious-media-trained-face and her incoherent comedy pundit side-kicks seemed disproportionate in length.

They had a Jota tribute to get to and, at 2-2, we're lining up, like the Beeb, a "This new guy really isn't like the Messiah Klopp, and look how much they've spent!" story.

My understanding is, and not from anything they said, is that the match was stopped and the racism protocols initiated.

And, although Neville and Carragher offered nothing of interest, and the tone had been delivered direct from a media workshop, there was a solid feeling of zero tolerance that came across.  A strong message, well worth the focus.

The rest of what I caught, other than Salah's touching tribute with the fans, which they wisely shut up over, offered no insight into anything I'd just watched. So, no change there.

If you thought the Wrexham masturbation was bad last Saturday (I’ve got nothing against their owners, club or fans btw, quite like what they’ve done and how they’ve done it) it was even worse still yesterday with their home game v WBA. You’d think they were playing at the Maracana.

Did my head in all the stuff about Luton and the ‘Kenny’ during their PL season.

One of the commentators today, the main one I think, said Saints are adapting having lost all their big players from last season…

Last I checked only Ramsdale and KWP had gone. I wouldn’t have classed Onuachu or Sulemana as big losses 😂

I'm so sure he's not going to say anything useful, that I can just shut out his noise. So, in a weird way, I don't mind him, as I'd have to learn to ignore any replacement. 🙂

And when you add Peter Drury into the mix, I agree the whole Sky football coverage has gone downhill massively. Drury's commentary drives me feckin mental, and did so long before he got the lead commentator's job from Martin Tyler, who was magnificent IMO. Sky's other commentators are far better than Drury.

He tries too hard with all his antidotes, makes me cringe sometimes. It doesn't roll naturally anymore, you can tell he's trying too hard these days.

His best commentary came in the Wolves 0 - 6 Southampton game when he used to do the ITV Championship coverage.

I quite like Seb Hutchinson, he's prob my favourite commentator right now.

His monologues prior to ko make me want to puke, in fact when i watch a game I mute the sound. Always liked Bill Leslie, I think it was him who did the Sky commentary for the infamous Watford v Leicester last minute Deeney winner.
