I mean he managed to get dressed in a kit, but that’s the extent of his contribution. However, his lone deal is absolutely pointless if SR manage to either not sign a proper CF or sign another dud. I suggest you do not hold your breath! There's no evidence he did it himself. There's no way those shooting feet accurately got into a pair of socks and then boots, without help. 3

Willo of Whiteley Posted January 7 Posted January 7 (edited) Guido Carillo was like Pele compared to Damion Downs. He was that poor and ineffective. A very low bar. #TheSportRepublicWay Edited January 7 by Willo of Whiteley 2

Wade Garrett Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Is this what happens with data-driven recruitment? Maybe we should get people that know the game to go to matches and watch players rather than lock a load of nerds in a broom cupboard with a few laptops and an internet connection. 1
AlexLaw76 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 That air shot from 1 Yard out against Wrexham was a beauty. one or two posters tried calling it as an assist lolol 5

Someone on there compared their squad value with ours and surprisingly ours is higher. So unless he does something incredible while on loan, expect to see him back in the summer.

Ali Dia nearly scored when he came on, which Downs never did 😂 Carrillo - Downs - Juanmi The trinity of shit.

He nearly scored against Wrexham. Could have defined his whole career in English football had he got his foot to it.

Downs some how missed the ball completely from 2 yards out when it seemed easier to score 😂 1
leeham_69 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 For anyone interested (not many), he started for Hamburg, played 78 minutes, the team lost and he was the lowest ranked player on fotmob. I want him to do well so they want to keep him permanently. I was just curious so I thought I'd share, and look forward to now forgetting about him for the rest of the season. 3

That is the average rating (and goals/assists) so far this season of the players that started the last game. The guy who got sent off got a worse rating in the game, but Downs was still shit, and second worst with his 5.32

I am not across fotmob, I was just trying to see what minute he got subbed and saw that graphic so chucked it in. Thanks for clarifying! 1

Nah, don't do Juanmi dirty like that. Far bigger fish to fry. Probably a genuine one where we didn't give a young player long enough to express himself. A goal every 4 games across 180 La Liga appearances really suggests it was an us problem. 6

John Boy Saint Posted Sunday at 10:35 Posted Sunday at 10:35 My German mate was at the Hamburg (his team) v Gladbach game yesterday finished 0-0 despite Hamburg his message to me: “You were right, please take back this Damian Downes before the season ends! Yesterday Hamburg at home against Gladbach (0:0) he squandered chance after chance. Hamburg played really well with 23:1 shots on goal, but couldn't score....” In all seriousness - whilst thinking back to Danny Wallace when he went to Utd - for such a young man who has made the USA team, got bought by us for decent money to suddenly look nothing like his potential, feet getting into kerfuffle. Maybe people around him need help to have a deeper dive into his wellbeing. 2

He's never started a game for them and probably never will, now they've had a look at him, as they do practically every young US player who's playing in Europe. 1

I read that he left due to homesickness rather than footballing reasons. Anyway he cost £5M and we recovered most of that when we sold him. 2
AlexLaw76 Posted Sunday at 13:07 Posted Sunday at 13:07 He is progressing. Rated 6.3 on FotMob yesterday Win/Win
