Lighthouse Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Leicester at home can only mean one thing; some muppet is going to get himself needlessly sent off. I think it's something like five out of the last seven times we've played this fixture. You'd have to expect the same team, with Downes possibly being preferred to Bragg.
LiberalCommunist Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Leicester are accumulating a nice bunch of yellow cards today. So watch this space!
CB Fry Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Beat Leicester 2-0 and we go above them in the league, which will feel like we really are back. 1

benjii Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Probably a good opponent after today. If we were playing less ambitious opponents they would probably park the bus and then we'd have the moaning "in the mixer" brigade whinging about backwards, sideways bollocks all match. Hopefully Leicester come to try to take it to us.
Football Special Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Back down to earth win a bump after today's big win. Prediction 0-9 defeat. 7
SNSUN Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago After QPR, Wednesday and Charlton, Leicester is Tonda's first real test. Win this and he must be a shoe in for the job, whether it's the right decision or not. Good to see today that the summer signings (Post Downs and Quarshie) are really making their mark. Some more of that transfer decision making in January and it will be a wonderful second half of the season. 1

How was that not a real test? 2
SNSUN Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago They've scored 7 goals in 10 games. We've scored 10 in 3. Keep our goal rate up and we should be ok. Reading Foxestalk they say there were more positive signs for them today though, Begovic in goal was one. We have history with him.

SuperSAINT Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Isn’t the main issue with Leicester that their wingers usually terrorise us?

Yeah Mavididi and Fatawu usually tear us apart. The problem is we've got Manning who makes it even easier for them. Edited 15 hours ago by Harry_SFC 1
sockeye Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I'm still not over the 2-3 from last year. Gotta give it to 'em whilst they're hurting and give it to 'em good.
Pamplemousse Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago If we play like we did today, we win every game. I'm still in shock from what I saw but I loved it. Perfect time to play them. I can't stand them, it's time we won. Revenge for that shite 5-0 loss under that twat Martin. 2

Completely agree on all that, out of interest why is it perfect time to play them? Have they got a lot of players out? It really is about time we got a result against them , will feel weird not making a ton of wonga betting on Vardy to score anytime

I'd be fearful if we had them say just after the Blackburn debacle.

I agree despite the talk of Leicester crisis club in the summer and not spending any money they kept a very strong starting XI Any win for us would put us above them, which would be nice

Saint Fan CaM Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Play like we did today and we beat them. I do have a slight concern - lose Scienza to illness or a January bid and we’ll be mediocre again. Have they received their points deduction yet?
HnycS Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago So 5-1 away to Charlton, I feel revenge against Leicester for a 9-0 incoming. BTW Based on game time body language I really really feel AA is not a fan of Nathan Jones, he played like he would have done anything to win that game. Would love to here the inside view of Nathan Jones time at SFC

Would love to here the inside view of Nathan Jones time at SFC Arma played an exceptional game, like no other he’s produced at Saints. Killer passes, half turns, assists, high pitch pressing, tracking back to defend and the well taken goal at the second bite. Maybe it was a dislike of Jones which motivated him. He and several others have lifted their games since Still's sacking. 1

Yep definitely looks like a proportion of players if not all were not playing for Still. beat Leicester & Millwall & it sends out a message to the rest of the league we are back & on the hunt ! Gk ,Rb & a St sill needed in January if we really wana have a go second half of the season for maybe playoffs. 2
Pamplemousse Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago It's our first home evening game, so I do hope there is a light show before. 1

Surely cost cutting after relegation will save us from sitting through one of those again. Usually just results in Sky Sports zooming in on Dawson doing his silly dance
Football Special Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Looks like it will be a small crowd anyway, Leicester not bringing many down, home sales are low which is not surprising considering it's midweek game live on tv and ticket office decided to make it a Category A ticket price

Ticket, food and drink way too expensive. Add in travel and parking even within and around Soton area and it mounts up. 25, 26k is still a good crowd. Non league attendances have picked up and that's mainly due to season ticket prices, Eastleigh £99 , Winchester City £146 which for some is much more affordable. I notice at both Eastleigh and Winch a large proportion are Saints fans. I've got about 3 seasons left as season holder then when retire won't be able to afford it so membership and a few games.
die Mannyschaft Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Saints 1-1 LCFC, think it may be a bit more defensive strategy and less space. Its one of those worst footballing teams who hack and kick anyone in sight. Expect 10 yellows and a lot of possession.

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Mavididi scored for the first time in nearly a year yesterday so expect him to terrorise us again. This will be a real test for Eckert. Leicester will have seen our game today and there's no way they are going to let us pass it as easily into Armstrong and the other attackers, turn and run. Time to see if Tonda can also find other ways of getting at teams.
S-Clarke Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Their fans are in a similar boat to us, we've all had similar starts to the season (Ipswich included). Very stuttering/stop start, not convincing. Yesterday was our first convincing day of the season so far, Leicester are still stuttering along - but they are winning. The general vibe from their fanbase is that of a negative one. They want their manager out, and they were fortunate to have Begovic in goal yesterday to stop Stoke scoring more than 1 apparently. Could just be fan emotion talking, but I haven't seen the highlights. This isn't the same Leicester side from 2 years ago though, not anywhere near. They're more venerable through the middle without Ndidi and less potent without Vardy up top. Fatawu isn't the same after his ACL apparently in terms of mobility. In addition they'll be without LB Luke Thomas in this one who is suspended, so their thinking is the OAP Ricardo Pereira comes in at LB with Hamza Choudhary at RB. They're gettable, and if our movement is as sharp and quick as it was yesterday then we 110% have the legs on Faes, Vestergaard, Pereira and Hamza & Skipp. There is the potential there for Leo/Fellows/Armstrong to run that 4/5 ragged. 1

Agree. We played with the ball on the ground yesterday, quick and incisive with lots of good movement. We need more of the same to beat these so no high balls into AA and the rest. 1

Still be too much for us 2
Wade Garrett Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago Good test for Eckert. Leicester have some pace and will press the fuck out of our defence. Won’t be able to play it around our own box like we did yesterday. They also have a strong midfield. Will be interested to see how Eckert sets us up. Will he change the shape or style of play to counter them? Will Downes come back in to add some strength to the middle of the pitch. This a real test for Eckert and the team.
