Some interesting mock ups there. Certainly like the third kit option c) sky and navy halves, reminiscent of the 1980-4 away kit in those colours

Thank you - I honestly get the p**s taken out of me a lot due to my design work and art - but I have genuinely designed team shirts and they have been used in British League competitions by some big clubs within that particular sport. I used to love doing this - then AI came along.....

That back is hideous. Looks like a Sheffield United kit.

No doubt loads of other clubs that wear stripes will carry on with a striped back.

What the fuck is our obsession with plain backs??? Other clubs have stripes all the way round.

Majority of fans don't have a name and number so it looks ridiculous like in that picture above.

Stripey back , black number …

how hard is that to sort?

Even if you have it on a plain rectangular background it doesn't have to be huge, just slightly bigger than the number and then give the number a red or white border depending the colouring.

It's not ideal but I've seen worse. I am the matchday announcer at Fareham Town and a couple of seasons ago Blackfield & Langley (I think) rocked up with green numbers on green shirts for a Wessex League fixture. As you can imagine it was quite tricky identifying the players 🤣

Yeah, lots of other clubs also spy on other teams training too. Let's not upset the EFL with stripes.

Fairly sure we expected to be playing PL footy so need a plain back where the name and number goes? I actually think on the players with the name and numbers printed it looks better to have some stripes on the back than none at all, like our yellow away kit this season.

As we haven’t been promoted, it’s a shame we can’t just have a full striped back but these things get planned well in advance. Think the new shirt looks pretty decent tbf.

Somehow they’ve made it worse.

Either do the whole thing or not at all.

Have to wonder what is wrong or up with our people in the Commercial Dept or wherever to fuck it up like this.

For me it’s stripes or not at all (“Stripes mean Stripes” ffs.)

If it isn’t front and back then abandon them altogether and go for r/w halves, quarters, or Keegan era. (Sash for occasion or anniversaries).

Think Brentford and Bournemouth have managed to keep striped backs haven’t they ?

Looks Cheltenham or Exeter to me

I don't disagree with people who want stripes front and back. But when the red panel is filled with the name and number plus I guess a back of the shirt sponsor the effect will not be so bad

And that's the reason they don't do Stripes front and back. It's because they want you to buy the name and number to make it look less shit.

Bournemouth do look like they got away with full stripes:

Brentford had a partial striped back:

I remember Sunderland having to have those strange squares on the back this season for their numbers, which made me think it was no longer a European completion requirement and now a premier league one.

Newcastle have always had just the partial stripes. Agree full stripes looks much better.

You say “got away with”. Is there actually any stipulation from the league over this ?

As for the patches on the back, this seems a bit of a throw back to another era. When I first started following football (late 60’s) some players would have a white patch and number on the back, others with just a black number. The team would be a mixture on the same day. Seem to recall Newcastle would also often have a patch on the back.

Seems there are some PL restrictions but I think the colour of the stripes and number are a defining factor to ensure the names and numbers are visible enough. English football and their vague rules, bit of a theme of late!

Black numbers on red/white stripes seems as clear as you can get I’d have thought.
