TheSoundman Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago We've signed a great deliverer of crosses and a tall strong presence to get on the end of them in the last 24 hours. What's not to like? We can also get Leo off the right footed shot at goal free kicks. Manning and JWP over a central free kick 20 yards out. I wouldn't want to be that keeper LOL. 3

Will be interesting to see if Larin's presence in the box 'coincidentally' renders JWP's corners better than they were previously perceived to be by some... Edited 3 hours ago by trousers 2
SNSUN Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago When he scores his first goal on his return, and kisses the badge, I may have to grab some onions so I have an excuse. 5
madge Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago If he was 33/34 years old I’d be like .. not again, but he’s only 31, plenty of his career to go. And reports suggest £800k which is staggering. Think this is great business. Need a couple more in the door yet though.

The skills of Henry and the speed of Theo is what I was told 2 years ago, and I spoke to someone else about 6 months ago and the kid is still going strong for Saints. PS @Pilchards who was this?

Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I was a little on the negative side of JWP’s return, however there have been some good positive points made alongside a staggering good deal if £800k is correct. So now, I’m thinking let’s see what he brings - if he’s an abject failure I guess he’ll be joining Lallana in the youth coaching setup. I’ve met the lad and seen first hand the charity work he put in when at Saints the first time and he’s a long way from being a skate. Welcome back James and good luck. 5
Ex Lion Tamer Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Pros: I think he'll be a great player at this level Two year contract is shorter than I expected, minimises risk Cons: I forgot about that corny golf swing celebration
a1ex2001 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The one game he played for us at this level against Sheffield Wednesday he looked far too good for this league. He has been plagued by bad management ever since but I still see him as being better than most of the midfielders in this league and hopefully his love for the club will inspire him and others! 2

Whoever that turns out to be, I really hope the wally comparing a child’s skills to Henry was not involved in their development. Ridiculous messaging setting the lad up for failure. trousers Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The major negative of JWP rejoining for me is that we won't be able to use the highly amusing "Free kick in JWP territory (even though he's no longer with us)" bants on match day threads anymore...
Convict Colony Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago havent watched any interview but i hope the first question was "did you really call Nuno baldie at Notts Forrest and that is why he refused to play you."

Ha... I liked that he compared Nuno to his grandmother though... "I've been very strong in my beliefs about who I am as a player and as a person, regardless of whether my Nan was the manager or it's Nuno."
Suhari Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Pretty pleased with this. Key thing for me is that we get him a bit further up the pitch than he was at times for us in the past. Just watched a goal highlight reel which is a reminder of how effective he can be arriving late into the box, or hitting the target from just outside it (aside from free kicks of course!) Be nice to see some cross onto Larins head from deep too. Welcome back JWP. Edited 2 hours ago by Suhari 1

Winnersaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I was wondering how this place would react if say Boro, Wrexham or similar bought a player who has played for England, was 31 and apart from one game had played his entire career in the top flight for £800000. 5

Good point well made 👍 And isn’t injury prone.

I assume given your advanced years and the fact that your wife left you you'd find something like that a challenge without one of these

I think his "default" position will be one of the central mid 2 but there's also a shout to have him playing right back or right wing at times.
saint michael Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’m never convinced about a player returning but whatever we think in terms of whether he will bring success, he will definitely give his all to the club and might just be able to give the youngsters confidence around him. Here’s hoping. Welcome back James.
