I don’t actually think Middlesbrough have much in the way of evidence aside from a minor breach.

Overall I think they will come out of this with a worse reputation than Southampton.

Not a chance, unless this is all one big hoax (which it clearly is not)

I do wonder whether the club could/should have played this differently with the media. It does seem the whole country’s press is against apart from Nicky Butt and Jon Sopel.

Someone help me out, as Boro went full guns in and got us charged on the 8th, does anything else found after that date get submitted for evidence? Boro's wording on their latest statement might suggest not.

Haven't seen what Jon Sopel said. But he did study at the University of Southampton.

If it was a legal hearing and had been leaked it would’ve been inadmissible.

Boro have played to the press and largely thrown their toys out the pram.

Doubt Gobbo would be allowed to rock up on horseback two days in, with an ex-Saints employee tied and bound in the back of a carriage with a guilty note. If that's what you mean.

This will rumble on for a while. Steve Gibson will still want money out of Southampton for no real reason.

Even if you get a points deduction and the case is closed he’ll be going on about this for a while.

I'm not sure Dragan will shy away from a legal battle with Gibbo.

I reckon you might be onto something. We've all been wondering why the club would do this and if it was actually just a setup.

Maybe it was all staged by Steve and mods to generate site traffic and raise advertising revenue 🤨

Some legal bod on the Boro forum giving his opinion and interpretation of what is known (not the noise) believes we will not be expelled but there is risk for Saints of the first game being awarded 3-0 to Boro, as there is precedent between Celtic and Legia Warsaw which resulted in the same thing, plus a nod to the Swindon situation.

They can’t just change the result of a match thats ridiculous

Agree. I actually think that’s the least likely outcome. If this was happening prior to the second leg, maybe. Not once the second leg has taken place.

I know I'm prone to reading too much between the lines sometimes, but would the club really be posting a tweet like this today if they thought there was any chance of us getting kicked out...?

Still can’t get my head around this farcical position we have gotten ourselves into. It’s like an episode of Ted Lasso.

I think Saints could have done a better job of controlling the media. They’ve let the Boro side have a clean run at this and it’s turned into a hysterical pile on. I have a reasonable amount of faith that the panel will comprise people smart enough to not like the outside noise impact their decision but the reaction has gotten completely out of control.

I think we're in the clear.

£500k fine, three points (suspended) and a penalty to Ipswich.

I doubt the club's social media team have been directed to do much other than to act as normal.

Is that based on any info or just pulling out random numbers like most commentators.

Hopefully get a few of his Serbian "mates" over to "have a word" with Gibbo.

Could add to the evidence that we knew exactly where Boro were going to play that ball out of defence. And that they were so unfit that Flynn would be able to catch them up after giving them a head start.

Same as Boro releasing news stories about players being not fit for the final.

The kids call it manifesting.

We and they are willing want we/they want to happen.

Apologies, should have put a wink next to it. But wouldn't be surprised if that's what we end up with. Bloody Ipswich.

Whatever the outcome of this, whether we are guilty or not and to what extent if we are, I have to say I fucking hate it and it has badly tainted what should be an enjoyable time following this club.

Latest reports from Jason Burt actually suggesting Boro have no evidence of us doing this to any other team. Which can only be good news.

Great, then we go after them for defamation of character. They are awarded the first leg 3-0, they get what they want. For ungentlemanly conduct (for trying to influence the hearing and sentence) and defamation we are awarded the second leg 4-0. Job’s a good’un!

Where? Not on the club's website or X account. The local paper did, but the paper isn't the club.

Wait until you find out Saints stayed at Rockcliffe park , and did their special training after Boro had finished theirs 😇

Where did we stay for the away league game at Boro?

I might be missing something but if we have to stay in the Championship get docked points and get a massive fine we could be looking at a large number of players leaving plus the possibility of Emery as well not encouraging

Why would more players leave than would have left anyway?

Why would that happen? If we get a points deduction, it won't be a massive one. Even if it was -6 for example, that wouldn't stop an automatic promotion chase, let alone a playoff one when 8th gets you into the playoffs next season.

If anything, we'd actually lose more players after a promotion as we'd need better players to have any chance of staying up!

It has, but I think that actually works in our favour if we have something substantial to fight back with. I’m hoping the reason we are keeping our powder dry is because we have a bigger gun than they do. It doesn’t do us any favours to get into a slagging match before the hearing either. Better to be grown up and professional rather than childish and petulant.

(Unless Boro get their way in which case I hope Dragan kicks the shit out of that snivelling  little bastard “Gibbo”).

We don't have to control the media. All that matters is the EFL and their committee.

I disagree. We've kept our powder dry and allowed Middlesbrough to run themselves ragged. You've only got to read the BBC thread to see how public opinion has moved away from them. Sure, some ex players and journalists have strong views against us, but that's largely designed to get us biting imo. The best thing we could have done is keep quiet, prepare our case, and speak once the outcome is known.

Any PR agency worth anything would have been advising us to do exactly what we have done. You can tell that some people on here haven't had to do crisis management.

Curious they used the number 115.

Man City have 115 charges pending, they're the biggest cheats around. Maybe the Saints social media team are saying that cheats do prosper :smug:

The "1 week to go" post by the club and silence over the past 48 hours from the Boro client journos suggests to me that all parties know the outcome, or at least what it isn't. Hopefully anyway.

From today’s Sunday Times…

Interesting and worrying… so the FA could pick up charges against us after the EFL commission. Also worrying the EFL have the power to review phone/text records… (but wouldn’t they have already done that if the deadline is Tuesday?). Increasingly thinking we’ll have someone else at the helm next season, even if temporarily. IMG_0693.thumb.jpeg.7fb4ac05041eeddd3642a924b144d9cd.jpeg
