Rilind Nivokazi -  13 goals, 5 assists. 6 foot 2 ( Switz league )

Mateusz Żukowski - 17 goals  FC Magdeburg 6 foot 1 inch.

Yousef Salech - Cardiff. 14 goals, 4 assists,  6 foot 4.

( I've mentioned him loads would be my number 1 target! )

Daniel Karlsbakk - 23 years old, scored 18 goals, 6.4 height. 

An attractive long-term number nine. He is 6ft 4in, only 23 and scored 18 league goals in 2025. He attacks the box well, can run behind defenders and has more movement than a traditional tall target striker. He could initially compete with Larin before becoming the first choice.

 

Samuel Adeniran

At 6ft 4in, Adeniran supplies genuine power, box presence and channel running. Ten goals and four assists in Austria show that he can contribute as both scorer and facilitator. He would be a useful direct alternative when Southampton cannot play through pressure.

 

Ibrahim Diabaté

A powerful, hard-running striker who scored 18 goals to win the 2025 Allsvenskan Golden Boot. GAIS describe him as physical, hard-working and capable of running in every direction—attributes that fit Eckert’s pressing and transition football. 

 

Philipp Hofmann

The best pure target and link striker on the list. At 6ft 5in, he can receive direct passes, win aerial duels and bring Southampton’s attacking midfielders into play. His 12 goals and six assists show the creative value of his hold-up play.

My recommendation would be:

Nivokazi – best combination of affordability, physicality and immediate suitability.

Żukowski – highest ceiling and the most exciting stylistic alternative to Larin.

Karlsbakk – best long-term development signing.

Salech – most Championship-ready, but probably the worst-value negotiation.

Adeniran – sensible physical alternative at a manageable price.

Diabaté – affordable upside gamble.

Grodowski – useful, inexpensive squad depth.

Hofmann – short-term option only.

If Stewart re-signs, I would concentrate on Żukowski, Karlsbakk or Nivokazi, because Southampton would need youth and a future first-choice striker—not another veteran target man.

 

 

Salech at Cardiff would be my choice, cracking player.

Saw him a couple of times last season as a mate is a season ticket holder there. He seems to think around £7m would be enough

We’ll have to wait and see what the fee is once it becomes reported. Based on the Azon reporting and the Dobbin signing we’re clearly happy to spend £7m-£10m on supplementary players. But there were rumours of Spurs wanting £15m-£20m for Lankshear, so let’s see..

Ipswich also gave Delap quite a low release clause. £30m. They only ended up making a £10m profit on him.

They have a net circa £16M coming in, which will be in installments as per the Rodgers transfer. So assume £4M per year for the next 4 years... So they can likely outbid us should they want to drop it all on 1-2 players.

Article I read last night suggested £10m but with Spurs having a large sell on, and option to buy back. 
 

Although I suspect we could match the bid and wages the one thing Middlesbrough can probably make a better offer on is being a regular starter whereas with us the likelihood is sharing the role with Larin.

I don't know. As shown last year, Tonda is pretty good at rotating a squad and everyone getting a fair crack of the whip. 

It'd be a shame for Lankshear to go to Boro (good opportunoty for him I'd say), he looks like the kind of player that we should be targetting. But hes far from proven at this level. 11 goals across 2 seasons (all be it at struggling sides). 

£10m feels reasonable, but anything north of that, feels like a huge outlay for what would in reality be a risk.
