how do you know?

I think all our players would have moved to Kayi Sanda's agent had his contract been higher than THBs

And Gloucester Saint, you're so right about these sodding agents. Admittedly a few years ago now, but at my local club Woking, players on £20k pa would come in with their agent to negotiate their new pays deals. You can just imagine the agent promising all kinds of stuff while taking their 10% cut which the players could hardly afford.

Woking had a rather challenging week. Jermaine Defoe seemed to have had a decent end to the season and they were looking to build a squad for top 8 this season. He walked out along with his assistant, Paul Bracewell IIRC, saying that the job had become an eye opening exercise.

Got the sense they’d fallen out with the DoF but a kick in the teeth for Woking fans whatever the reason.

That's complete bollocks.

You’re usually better than that. Try to stretch your intellect a little and try to explain why you disagree with my view.

Not sure about the spirit side of things but I think Ramsdale would do just as good a job as Peretz. If he wasn't on a bigger salary, of course.

Not sure what you mean by ‘as good a job’? Is that at being a GK or at being part of a group of players that gel? My argument was that the latter is as, if not more important. Having said that, I do think that Ramsdale could quite easily re-integrate himself into the team dynamic, however Peretz experienced last season where a real team identity developed under Eckhert.

Because it's obviously wrong. Most pro footballers play in lower leagues or leagues in countries where players don't earn a fortune. They earn amounts that are easily obtainable to people with decent careers (and who will have much more prolonged earning power).

Well we paid 5 times more than his market value so wouldn’t surprise me if his wages were too

Which is why I said relative to the country they play in - even in poorer countries players earn more than many can dream of. Then there’s players like Mané who earns enough to look after an entire village back in his native country.

Do you know what the average league 2 player earns in the UK? Apparently it’s about £2000/week - in terms of the general demographic, the average pay for ‘Joe Bloggs’ is about £750/week so there’s plenty in the UK who would fall well below what even a lower league pro player earns.

All getting a bit salty between Jody Brown their DoF, Defoe and Bracewell now https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13566844/jermain-defoe-woking-claim-former-england-and-tottenham-striker-didnt-turn-up-for-meeting-and-training-before-shock-exit

Ah, the benefits of the multi-club model continue 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

I thought this guy was going to bide his time and come through slowly.

At least keep them a little longer to get a slightly larger fee.

Seems like a complete waste to even sign him in the first place. Is pretty tiny (from what I recall of the Valenciennes highlights) so probably had to be very good to have the potential to make it here. Unless we have a big sell on, why do we bother?

Because sometimes young players do work out. You'll get more misses than hits, but the outlay wasn't huge for him.

But the misses pile up in money spent.

Shame. I thought big things were expected of him when he signed.

Wasn’t he meant to be the Japanese Latvian Michael Owen ?

You could say the same about our academy. Clearly the finances work out or we wouldn’t be doing it.

The Jelert replacement.

Also, Tavolieri is a very poor source. Has been since Lavia and a multitude of other Belgian players. Seems to have gone French this summer.

Bree is the 'Jelert replacement' I would have thought

Me too, we don't need a 'Jelert replacement', just a bit of fun poking at the Belgian Alex Crook.

Reminded myself that he was the one reporting on Sam Edozie going to Strasbourg for £9m last summer. Oh, we could only dream.

🤣

That would have been some transfer (for us)

Only way that would happen is if Sugawara and Roerslev both leave. Sugawara is likely to go but can't see us getting rid of Roerslev.

From what I've seen of him so far, he's far too safe and/or negative so I would move him on.

There’s a lot of misses in the SR era 😢

Don't get me wrong we had a largely decent window last season.

But in terms of the SR model of buying low and selling high, apart from a few players they have been largely terrible. 😂

Fair to a point but Goztepe have seen some of their Brazilians move on for decent fees. I expect the model would be better if there was a stable premier league club as a possible end point for some of the talent identified.

Speculative on my part but I would suggest a fair assumption. I caveat this with knowing I’m a bit of a champion for the model in principle (if not always in practice!) which I know is not universally popular.

Nope, this is not going to happen and it does not make any sense in more than one way!

I wouldn’t say that’s a multi club model benefit.

They've bought players and sold them on for profit.

Saints haven’t benefited from this.
