I don’t think it is too bad. Think only one game for South American countries. Nice to see back in Europe and Morocco will be ok. Problem now so large one country won’t have the infrastructure I guess

So glad the Argies lost. They deserved nothing more than humiliation. Good riddance to Messi too. Living here in the US, you hear nothing other than talk about Messi. He was completely anonymous today and needs to retire. 

This world cup has been a big, politicized mess. A few good games, but mostly hyped up, Americanized shit. The England v Ghana game that I attended was one of my worst football experiences. Utterly shit, soulless stadium in the middle of nowhere with the worst atmosphere imaginable. Tourists everywhere who are only interested in the "decibel meter," counting down to kick off, selfie sticks and collecting the cheap FIFA junk in the fan zones to flog on eBay. Having lived here for many years, I still despise the way they try and change everything to the American way and expect everyone to be grateful they did such a "great job."

Here's to another 60 years of hurt!

England probably wouldn't have beaten Spain, final would have been less violent though. Awful reffing but that's one of the stand out points of this WC.

Final 10 games of last season at SMS when Saints were flying, you had more limited sides visiting whose game-plan / chance was to kick the shit out of our players. You could gauge that if the ref carded an oppo player or two first 20 / 30 minutes the game would settle down quickly and allow football to be played, no card the visiting side would get emboldened and ramp it up. Many games in this world cup have felt like that, especially those involving the Argies.

Two things I would like to see post World Cup.

It felt like the football was the sideshow to it all last night, the entire thing was built around the pre-match concerts, half time show, full-time nonsense and Argentina's dirty tactics. The match was a distraction to all their corporate Americanised bollocks.

This is why I hate American owners taking over English football as they are right now, like the Wrexham lot, as you see the same nonsense being brought into the English game. Football is about football, not concerts, fireworks or light shows.

The right team won last night, has there ever been such a poor showing as Argentina showed? They didn't even try. All they wanted to do was foul and throw elbows at people. They had no intention of playing football and I'm so glad they didn't win it.

Spain played the better side, clearly, but christ they were boring - very predictable and slow.

Overall the World Cup is what we all thought it would be, Americanised nonsense. But it hasn't been 'all bad'. You've still got the Cape Verde story which was great, England winning at the Azteca in the early hours of the morning and - although very much an anti climax, our best finish since 1966 and some sort of medal. So it's not all bad, but sadly it was all punctuated by the Americanisms and Celeb culture more than the football overall.

p.s - How much did Ronaldo and Ronaldinho get paid to do that?? I felt sorry for them, it looked terrible.

I hope in time people will remember the Mexico-England game as much as if not more than the semi-final exit. That was a bona fide classic of a match and for me the game of the tournament, which showed how exciting international football can still be if played right. A truly great England performance given the environment they were playing in and everything that seemed to be against them on the night.
