Nothing has changed in my mind, we keep the best manager we've had in a decade. As long as the players are happy to continue playing for him and the club. I'm sure some of them will use our rule breaking sins as a reason to get a move, but I'm also sure they would have been making the same decision had we failed to get promoted. Had we got promoted a couple would still have been fancying their chances at a bigger club. Regardless, who stays, how we strengthen is another conversation. We need a good manager and the appointments SR have made have been shockers, even Russell Martin only managed 27 wins and he got us promoted!

Well, there are rumours that several Italian clubs (including Milan & Juve) are keeping tabs so maybe it's worth holding onto him and maybe getting a wedge if compo. Every little helps and all that!

We could get a fake manager in (a placebo manager if you will) that pretends to be our manager, but really we keep Tonda on, stick him in the Sammy Saint costume and have him linger around the fake manager on match days dishing out the advice. Nobody will ever know.

Ha... Great minds and all that.... When this first kicked off I did ponder if any FA sanction ends up just applying to first team activities, then chuck him back in the U21s and surreptitiously wire him up for training and match days... Not that I'm condoning cheating of course.... :)

Still no, if the players want to play for him that is (and he isn't banned).

If the above happens and he makes a genuine apology then let's crack on and prepare for next season.

There seems to be a lot of heart over head going on with this topic (who'd have guessed football fans could be passionate and irrational, eh!)

As much as I would like to keep him on for his ability, his position is simply untenable given everything that came out of the hearing. 

It's not so much the fact that he was breaking rules. It's more that he wasn't clever enough to do it without getting caught, and that cost the club the chance of promotion. 

There's no way he could possibly survive that in any other industry.

That’s the thing though, this isn’t any other industry - Football is probably the industry to be in if you want previous transgressions to be forgotten

Yep, definitely heart v head for me.... I started off listening to my head, but now my heart has taken over.... Or is it the other way around....?! :)

Football isn’t like any other industry. It’s corrupt as fuck from top to bottom. I was definitely in the Tonda out at first but i say I keep him, fuck everyone else

Fuck it, I am going to shift to Tonda IN. 

He shouldn't given what he is central to regarding the lost opportunity, which has given us 1 season in a stronger league to get it right, or we are down for a generation.

But, my faith is Sports Republic to remotely get it right is at around 1%

Or football club, in England at any rate. As you say, the FA enquiry will make it untenable and he will be the EFL’s price for closing the book on 25/26.

If we'd been fined like Bielsa's team was, I doubt the question would exist.  Despite the shit show, he got the players playing.  Deep breath.  Get them playing again and fight!

True, plenty were expecting a fine though.  I don't think any of us or anyone in the football world expected sanctions to be this harsh.  It was the harshness that got us all hysterical rather than the offense itself imo.  The spying was a ridiculous error but an easy one to correct.  If we push on in the same way we finished this season we've got a good season ahead imo, with Tonda.

But we are biased and generally have no clue (as reality has demonstrated). There were plenty in the footballing world demanding us to be severely punished/kicked out, we just ignored or mocked them

Couldn’t agree more. There isn’t any integrity in the sport, anyone that says that I’m afraid is a loser this day and age. Long has gone those days, this is the sport. We either ride with it or get left behind.
 

If the players are happy to stick around with Tonda at the helm, I’m all for it. Siege mentality. Fuck the rest. 

We wouldn’t have even been in this position if Tonda did not work a miracle to get us to the play offs to begin with.

I am all in. Being the nice club gets us no where.

seems like a really good manager and players enjoy him and agree with the narrative to tell every other motherfucker to fuck off, happy to be the bad guy and win.

Regarding the spying thing he probably thought everyone's doing it hence telling the intern to get on with it.

Maybe Tonda is right and loads of teams are doing it but we were only caught by boro and ispwich/Oxford we weren't until we were compromised by the comms of ex employee.

Who knows what other spy's lurk out there

Hasn’t it been proven that in the 1992 olympics that Ben Johnson got banned for 6 of the 8 finalists were doping but never got caught. Carl Lewis who was the golden boy of USA athletics had got in trouble just before the Olympics but got away with it somehow. Everyone cheats but not all cheats get caught. Many get dismissed as just trying to gain an advantage

Exactly, it is all about bending the rules in your favour and, the big one, getting away with it. You are only a loser and cheat when you get caught. Those that don’t try, well.. then they are just losers because the rest are cheating! Whether that’s on the pitch or in the books.. it all goes on! None in my eyes is worse than the other. 
 

Until everyone else starts playing fairly, why the fuck should we?

I originally said no. Still don't expect him be there going into the new season. But if the remaining players are ok with him and he can hit the ground running, as others here have said, a big fuck off to everyone, I'm happy with that. Would actually love that. I think. Today.

I don’t disagree, but he also brought this club, players and fans together more than anyone has done since Nigel Adkins* and for that I’d give him a second chance. 
 

*winning games of football helps a lot obviously.
