Loved the mentality - polar opposite of midweek and large parts of the 24/25 and 22/23 seasons. Need more of it at the club.

I have a feeling JWP would have helped Bragg second half as well.

Inside the first ten minutes you could see he was an immediate upgrade on Stephens. 

Shouting from the off, dictating plays and passes, winning duel after duel and mopping up loose balls.

Nothing fancy, just basic stuff.

But he was immense. Easily an 7-8/10 debut. Very comfortable.

Really composed debut. Could use another one like him so Wood and Stephens are squad players. We looked immediately better with him in the team in the same way we looked immediately better when Peretz replaced Bazunu.

Loved the way he moved the ball quickly when he won it back and how he kept tight on his man to make it awkward for the attacker.

The stream I was watching had the Millwall commentators and they were full of praise for how Schlotterbeck dealt with Coburn.  Sounded like they had rarely seen anyone get the better of Coburn physically and thought Kevan had completely bullied and nullified him.

Following his impressive debut this is a signing that really excites me. I haven't seen the whole game but the positivity of the comments on here make me think Keven is the real deal. He is clearly a big physical centre back who can handle the type of striker he will face in the Championship. The fact that he was able to bully Coburn, one of the toughest in the division, emphasises this fact. Also he was clearly talking and shouting from the first minute so good signs that he will develop into a real leader.

We have not had this type of centre half for a long time and he could join the legends of the past such as Killer, Toby, Fonte and VVD. These sort of players can turn an average back four into a good one just by their presence. I'm hoping Keven is in the same mould. It's obviously very early days for his Saints career but my gut tells me he is going to be special for us.

Going back to his leadership attributes I wonder whether he might be given the captain's armband sooner rather than later. If he turns out to be an absolute rock at the back it would be great to see such a man mountain leading out the side and, seeing him at the head of the team in the tunnel would give our opponents pause for thought.

He'll probably have a nightmare on Tuesday now 🙂

Yes, I rate Coburn and if we were looking for a CF from this league he’d be a good option.

Seemed a good tussle between him and Keven. Thought Wood did quite well when needed as well. But worth remembering that Coburn and the CB (not sure of which at the time) had one moment in second half where they were wrestling with each other a bit, and had he gone down a penalty might have gone their way. As it was he got a shot in and Peretz made a good save.

I think he's a bit of a magnet for the ball, never shy's away from it and always competing for it - often comes out on top.

Need guys like him, head on the line sorts. I think he's a really decent progressive ball playing CB too, some of his passes on the ground to split their midfielders were on point.

Had two shockers tonight but some of his passes into the midfielders/forwards were great. Very much needed because Stephens and Wood just pass the ball between themselves 90% of the time.

Agree. Gives me Jos Hooiveld vibes. Good with his left, bit clumsy with his right and gives you some heart in mouth moments. But full-blooded, gives everything and will get his head on the end of a few set pieces too

4 games in, not even been at the club 2 weeks and he’s probably one of the first names on the team sheet already.

Last night was his best game, already shown he is more than up to the physical demands of this league, can play Tuesday/Saturday, can compete with the physicality of big strikers, can organise, can score, is a leader, already gesturing to the crowd to gee us up, can pick a pass

And I’ll say it again, unbelievably, here’s not even been here 2 weeks!!

Seems an exceptional signing at this early stage and If he’s the Harwood Bellis Replacement, then I think we can consider Hardwood Bellis replaced!

£3m seems insane value for money given the extortionate prices of the summer window.

to get a spine of Peretz/Larin/JWP and Schlotterbeck this summer for a combined £12.5m might be some of the best transfer business this club has ever done

It would have been nice to have Kevin and THB in the same side, but finances ruled otherwise. 

I think that he is a step up on THB, maybe  because of his experience. This shows particularly in physical battles and general leadership. 

Best Centre Back we have signed in ages. The only ones that have been any good since VVD are Bednarek, THB and Salisu.

 Proper defender and leader at the back the type we've been crying out for since Van Dijk and Fonte left. We've spunked probably over 100m on centre backs since and not got one. He looks a great signing, obviously its a different level than Premier league but for the money and the sort of player he is it's a great signing. He reminds me more of Michael Svenson than Holiveld. I think he's much better than big Jos was.

Yes was a strange one. Had been linked with Man Utd at one point - possibly only by his agent though - in the press before we signed him.

Pretty average but always thought he could have done more with as you say a better CB alongside. Putting him with Bella- Kotchup did neither of them any favours. Another one who just disappeared for months on end. 
 

Don’t remember too many clubs lining up for him when he left. Certainly didn’t become the £50/60m sell on we’d hoped for.

Salisu (apparently) played 68 league games for us in the three years he was with Saints; he's played 39 for Monaco in the three seasons since. Doesn't really feel like he's kicked on ... barely even kicked off.

I think Bella Kotchap was the closest thing we had to Van Dijk after he left, just a shame he turned out to be a complete weapon who couldn’t be arsed. The night we beat Chelsea at St Mary’s he was absolutely flawless, looked like a man against boys. Loving big Kev so far, I know to some people defenders should just be able to head it and kick it, but having a CB who can actually pass the ball makes such a difference in the modern game.

Christ, some memories- perhaps it’s mine - are fading or playing tricks on us. The two you mentioned are chalk and cheese.

VVD was a Rolls Royce of a player. That was evident from his first game, great defender who glided around the pitch with ease. Bella-K and Salisu were like cart horses, and even then best sent to the glue factory.

Shame about ABK, obviously had potential. You don’t get in the Germany WC squad at 22 without having something about you. But equally Germany with the likes of ABK in their squad don’t get past the group stages.
