SaintRobbie Posted 12 March, 2009 Share Posted 12 March, 2009 Interesting. One of the world's richest sportsmen and one of the most talented wingers we have had in the England side for many years. I assume he'll want to be closish to London, in the South for Posh and the kids. Perhaps he'll even be looking for a place to park a small yacht? Question is. Has anyone decided to approach him about buying Saints? If not, should we not make an initial approach to him? I think we should. Beckham will doubtless employ a well known CEO. He'll attract capital investment. He'll buy a club that is brandable in the States. He is a successful individual - unlike our current shareholders - and as such attracts winners. We have the infrastructure, family atmosphere (when Lowe is removed anyway) and location. Beckham as owner. Better than Lowe and Askham? What do we think? SaintRobbie Posted 12 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 12 March, 2009 I thought he was buying an MLS team/franchise? According to reports when he signed for Milan he was looking to buy a British team in due course. But even if not, should we not 'tempt' him? In all seriousness this is the type of thing that we as fans should be trying to do. I think its our best chance of improving the situation. Just campaigning to get rid of who ever is the bad guy at the time does nothing to make things better. So if we can find a way to approach someone who can genuinly improve our situation then I think its a great idea. Not sure Becks will have that much interest in us and maybe we might need someone who has a bit more afinity to the club. If Shearer was richer then there would be more chance to attract him than becks for instance. As for any other Billy Big Wallets floating around in Dubai or somewhere? We just need to convince them there could be a way of making money in the area. Surleya we have enough fans that can paint a good picture for us all to sell? SaintRobbie Posted 12 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 12 March, 2009 Mods, please lock this thread or have those responsible sectioned under the mental health act. LOL! Well done Block... this is exactly what I wanted to highlight. If we fail to show imagination, fail to hunt for a buyer or set our sites low and fail to show ambition, we'll always be a nothing Club under a consolidated extra shareholding Mr Lowe. It's time to seek a buyer again. We havent actively looked for one since SISU. Why? Is it because our shareholders are looking to consolidate their holding through administration? Why should we be prepared to roll over and die any longer? Let's find a buyer and move on up.

How many Ferraris will I need to sell over here to be able to afford to buy the saints? Seriously though, there are still people out there stupid enough to buy a footy club and we wont cost anything in the region of what Man City and Chelsea cost so I think its still possible to find someone. Maybe not from Dubai but there must be someone. A For Sale campaign IMO is better than a Lowe/Wotte/Wilde/Crouch/board/Big bad Wolf Out campaign any day of the week. INFLUENCED.COM Posted 12 March, 2009 Share Posted 12 March, 2009 This was banded about some time ago, but with the reported wealthiest men loosing a quarter of their fortune surely those who advise 'wealthy' men wouldn't endorse a football club purchase. I understand the logic behind Saintjays last post in marketing our club on mass, there is a link with posts today, Coldplay drummer speaks to his lead singer who by marriage is part of the hollywood fraternity who then has lunch(a lettuce leaf) with posh and plants the seed, create a consortium job done, easy, no ? sambosa75 Posted 12 March, 2009 Share Posted 12 March, 2009 It's well documented that Beckham has gone on record to say amongst the handful of clubs he used to hate playing against was Southampton because the fans gave him so much stick. I cant see him having positive thoughts about us when it comes to him choosing a club to buy, which would more than likely be Leyton Orient anyway. When Becks was asked about his ambition of eventually owning a football club in some interview, he did actually mention Southampton by name as being the right size/profile etc. etc. etc. (Remember, it was rumoured that his Lady Wife has her own private lift at SMS). I think Jackson took this to mean that it was definately happening and went about trying to work out how he could become the fix it man. Ain't found a ferrari with the keys in yet - I mean - still insured and no speeding/parking tickets.... But hey don't let it mess with the idea of a good story in the Gruaniad The REALITY is that yes, people in debt do HAVE to do a runner as there is no bankruptcy protection here - you get sent to jail for bouncing a cheque and if you are in debt you stay in jail until you paid it off... some property types here have 100k of cash and debts of 100mil. How long they gonna stay behind bars.... so running is the name of the game... and pray you only owe cash to a small bank as all the others use global heavies for debt collection! The club does have everything set up and ready to go after a cash injection. The biggest stumbling block is that the same could be said of many other UK clubs, so while it is possible, it is by no means probable.

This is pure speculation due to one of Beckham's former advisors involved in a consortium looking at Orient. Beckham is not a part of that group in any way.
